Currently playing Magic 2013. Gotta unlock one card per deck, beat Bolas round two, and win an online game to hundred percent it. Then gonna try and finish off the 2012 one.

Also working on Minecraft achievements. Got two left there.

NoJabbaNoBogRoll 08-02-2012 09:39 PM

There is a chance I'll bump Trine 2 up to a 9 if I'm blown away by the multiplayer. Excellent game.

I've gone back to owning and now, once again playing, The Elder Scrolls IV: OBLIVION Game of the Year Edition. Can't believe it's been like 5 years since it came out. Best main story of the entire series to date, IMHO, but who knows? If they ever do TES VI, maybe it will actually be compelling instead of MEH like TES V was (in the sense of the storyline, not the overall experience).

Back To The Future
Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
Half-Life 2
Fallout:New Vegas w/ all DLC
Fear 3
Prototype 2
Left 4 Dead 1/2

Gave Up:
Diablo III-- Took me till the Steam Summer Sale to wake me from that nightmare of a grind fest where I turn up with nothing. I stayed loyal that whole time, but refused and will always refuse to pay Real Money at the Real Money Auction House.

Games I've Beaten in 2012:

Saints Row: The Third - 86
Ultimate MvC 3 - 80
Mortal Kombat - 85
From Dust - 75
Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition - 60
Skate 3 - 82
Back to the Future: The Game - 70
Gears of War 3 - 76
The Simpsons: The Arcade Game - 56
Mass Effect 3 - 86
Payday: The Heist - 70
MLB 12: The Show - 83
NBA 2K12 - 79
Deadly Premonition - Fuck You
Goldeneye: Reloaded - 9
Street Fighter X Tekken - 42
Bastion - 90
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Trilogy Collection HD - n/a
Resident Evil 5 - 70
Dungeon Defenders - 78
Resistance 3 - 53
Dark Souls - 95
Lord of the Rings: The War in the North - n/a
Bunch of Heroes - fair
Alien Swarm - good
Magicka - great
Jamestown - really great

I saw a bunch of the co-op games I haven't beaten a few days ago that have been in my steam library for ages and thought I might try to beat them but fuck it. They're fine games but there are finer games out there. Magicka is pretty great but I'm not so hot with m+k and the controller config is a bit weird. Jamestown is good too but I don't like how the campaign is laid out. Lack of online co-op too. Great soundtrack though.

Might try to dive into some of these HIB games that I've never gotten around to.

Working on: Borderlands DLC, The Walking Dead, DYAD, Dear Esther, Terraria, Trine 2, Super Meat Boy, Soul Calibur V, Metal Gear Solid Collection, maybe Portal 2 co-op (forgot I haven't touched it for 360)

LoDownM 08-05-2012 06:34 PM

Beat in 2012 - Rating
Assassins Creed: Revelations - 2/5
Mass Effect 2 - 5/5
Mass Effect 3 - 4/5
Modern Warfare 3 - 3/5
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - 4/5
The Witcher 2 - 3/5
Trine 2 - 3/5
Dragon's Dogma - 3/5
The Amazing Spider-Man - 5/5
NBA2K12 - N/A
Warriors Orochi 3 - 4/5
The Walking Dead Eps 1&2 - 4/5 for both.
Sniper Elite V2 - 2/5
Sleeping Dogs - 3/5
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - 5/5

Sleeping Dogs - Good game, liked the story and driving around Hong Kong. Combat was kinda slow tho, and while driving around Hong Kong was nice, I would've liked a better fast travel feature.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron: Might just be me loving Transformers, but the only complaint personally that I have is not being able to play Grimlock till the second to last chapter of the game :(

Emperor Smeat 09-04-2012 03:37 PM

Games beaten in 2012:
Sonic 2 (XBLA version)
Call of Duty Black Ops
Portal (Xbox 360 Orange Box version)
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword
Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey
WCW/NWO Revenge
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow

Felt a lot shorter overall than the only other handheld Castlevania I ever played (Harmony of Dissonance) but not as confusing to get around besides 2 spots. The souls system works out great but the use of magic seals to end boss fights became frustrating once the seals got more complex.

Probably going to get around to beating Portal 2 and replay Majora's Mask as my main games for now. Currently on a hiatus with Metroid Prime 3.

El Fangel 09-04-2012 11:45 PM

Red Dead Redemption (replay)
Mass Effect - Hiatus
Dark Souls - Hiatus
Civilization 4 - Engulfed

Games I've beaten so far in 2012:
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Journey
Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne

Was so hard, took me forever, got the shittiest ending, nothing happened. Have to spent 20 more hours beating the optional dungeon I guess

Ultra Mantis 09-15-2012 05:55 PM

I ended up with the "Human" ending because all three reasons are batshit insane. The endings all suck except True Demon. Fuck that optional dungeon though. Damage floors everwhere, random boss level enemies every five steps, random warps, hardest three bosses in the game. You can't even win against the last boss unless you specifically clone a party with a specific skill from a monster that costs an insane ammount of macca. I pretty much gave up on that as soon as I beat Dante.

El Fangel 09-15-2012 05:57 PM

Red Dead Redemption, been developing a fan theory for it.

The demon ending? Where they're just like yo... you're a demon, that's about it, alright. That's the one I got. I felt the same way about all three of the reasons. I got to the third kalpa of the labyrinth and I don't think I ever got past the part where Dante chases you around and shoots at you. What level were you in when you finished? My main dude was in 85, then the others were like 80-84.

Also I somehow fused the Fiend Trumpeter towards the end of the game, and the last skill that he learned was a move that instantly killed the enemy with the lowest HP percentage, even if they were at 100%. It was so helpful in that fucking final dungeon.

OssMan 09-15-2012 06:05 PM

I think I'm gonna try to finish the labyrinth because of that one move, and I also got a Chakra Elixir which seems to be a never ending MP rejuvenator, so why not

OssMan 09-15-2012 06:07 PM

I actually wanted to realize the reason of the Manikins

El Fangel 09-15-2012 06:22 PM

What game dat?

OssMan 09-15-2012 06:43 PM

Nocturne

True demon is what you get for finishing the kalpas. Regular Demon is the worst ending, but the reason endings are all generally underwhelming too since they dont actually show you anything of the new world. My demi-fiend was about 74 I think, Kagutsuchi took me forever because I was using mainly phys-null demons and relying on Daisoujou to heal me every turn. Luckily my party had all the buffs / debuffs so i didn't get absolutely murdered. Must have been in that battle for 40 mins at least though.

That would have been a cool option, that part in the promised land was absolutely brutal. All the real humans were such dickheads.

OssMan 09-15-2012 07:42 PM

I didn't even get to face Kagatsuchi. It just told me that the world can't be created by a demon and then it went to credits. The longest fight I remember was Noah, Isamu's god who kept changing his resistance. I got the hang of it after a while but he had so much HP.

Pintint 09-16-2012 01:57 AM

What a bunch of bullshit, you can't progress in the labyrinth after you create the Tower of Kagatsuchi. So I beat Dante in the third kalpa and then literally was stuck there with no way to progress nor return to the vortex world. Couldn't even watch the peephole scene.

El Fangel 09-16-2012 08:40 AM

Sold Modern Warfare 3, bought Fallout: New Vegas.

Pretty excited for that.

OssMan 09-16-2012 08:44 AM

The Last Story

OssMan 09-16-2012 10:46 AM

Future criteria for playing "current gen" RPG that most modern games do which makes me hate them:

- Battle systems that require more than 30 seconds of tutorials
- Massive towns that you get thrust into and have all different types of stores
- Complex equipment upgrading systems

I can't deal with these. I just started playing The Last Story and it's guilty of all three. The only games I ever settle down with are ones that pretty much need no explanation.

Ouch. I made a backup save before I summoned it just in case I ever felt like taking on the last two kalpas / finishing the Jack Frost minigame. Wouldn't want to go through the entire thing again.

Pintint 09-16-2012 07:15 PM

Final Fantasy 13, just started, maybe 20 minutes into the game and I find it pretty terrible so far.

OssMan 09-17-2012 01:14 AM

Lyrics:

I am Heaven above and outside you!
I have your back to the wall!
Survive the fall from grace!
Drink of the wine of the wrath of God!
One more god rejected! I am Heaven above and outside you!
One more god rejected! I have your back to the wall!
One more god rejected! Survive the fall from grace!
Thou wilt not oppose the wrath of God!

Surprising, considering FF 9 and 10 were great. Haven't played 12 though...
But this barely feels like a FF game so far...

Ultra Mantis 09-17-2012 06:23 PM

It never feels like a Final Fantasy game and if you don't care for the story / characters then you probably won't like it at all. I didn't think it was horrible but it's not even comparable to anything from FF6-10.

Pintint 09-17-2012 07:46 PM

hehe, good thing I waited until it was 19.99 to buy it then.

El Fangel 09-17-2012 08:26 PM

Haven't played anything since the first 10 mins of FFX-2

El Fangel 09-19-2012 07:32 AM

Since this seems to be the general discussion thread, Is a playthrough of Fallout 3 needed before New Vegas to understand the story.

Ultra Mantis 09-19-2012 09:31 AM

Nah, it's a completely seperate story. There's a few minor references to the previous games in various sidequests but thats about it.

El Fangel 09-19-2012 09:37 AM

Thought as much, Thanks.
