Games Beaten in 2013:
Tomb Raider - 5/5 Suikoden 5 - 5/5 Bioshock Infinite - 5/5 Deadpool - 4/5 Need for Speed: The Run - 2/5 Good idea, poor execution. Too many load screens, to long of load screens, you get reset if you get of course by more than a car length, and why is there "make up time" sections when the race is position based EA? Lame game, why can't they bring back the Underground series :/ |
Fan made game Megaman Unlimited is out, if you're into that sort of thing.
I've got it on the DL right now. |

I like that the mission structure is dynamic, vehicles are finite, and that the item spawns are random. Makes it more than just "run to x house and get the bazooka" demigoding (although you can exploit the hell out of the modern pickup truck if you have a decent homebase). But, it also means you can easily get boned by not finding any good weapons or guns for quite awhile... or getting a decent gun but barely any ammo, or a ton of ammo, but not finding the right calibur gun to even use them.
My main complaint, however, is the fatigue and sleep deprivation. I mean, I get what they were trying to do, (not having one person, say Marcus, do EVERYTHING even though he is the Chrissy in this Friday the 13th) and it's a cool concept on paper... but only being able to do like 2 missions then having to go all the way back home and swap with someone who can't carry as much weight when the game arbirarily decides they're sleepy is a pain in the ass. Especially early on, when you don't have many "friends", and you're stuck with like a 3 man rotation (Marcus, Maya, random 3rd recruit). If they're all tired/hurt, you're kinda fucked. Also, the fact that the Y button does EVERYTHING has fucked me over as well. I've had countless times where I'm trying to stealth kill, and end up going "HEY, OVER HERE!" and been ripped apart by the Big 'Un because I was trying to close a door to stop a flood of perpetual spawning zeds I was too tired to fight off looking for that damned watch, and ended up spin kicking out the doorway and getting grabbed. I had scav'd some reall kick-ass shotguns and a decent ammount of large backpacks that game, too. Tragic. |
Contemplated making a thread about this, but I didn't want to be the only poster. What can I say, I'm a sucker for hopeless underdgs.
So... just set up my OUYA. Seems a bit interesting so far, except a couple larger titles like Sonic 4 and Final Fantasy III. Obviously, most of the titles are indy fare. Tried Sonic 4:ep 1 to demo to check the responsiveness of the controller, since I'm already familliar with the game. Feels pretty good and responsive for something that feels almost like an offbrand 360 controller in your hands. Haven't really tested the touchpad outside of the GUI of the system. Not bad, but not great... almost like a cheap surplus laptop from 5 years ago. Haven't tried a game needing it yet, though. Has potential for the $100 spent. I know the upcoming Gamestick is $20 cheaper, but it isn't quite as open (purportedly no room for emu or rooting of any kind, no expansion of memory, wifi only). Hoping it doesn't get completely drowned out in the waves of the "big 3" and go the way of Neo Geo Pocket Color. Need more hands on time with it than the 30 min I've spent playing around with it now. Anyone else get one/try one/care? |
I've started playing Twisted Metal Black with my brother on week-ends in the last few weeks. It's amazingly fun. Just turn off your brain, talk about whatever, and destroy each other's car. Didn't try the single-player mode, but as a multiplayer game, it's pretty neat.

Me and my buddy beat the Halo 4 campaign.
Could it get any shorter. Clocked in at a little over 5 hours. Probably a touch more if you're doing it solo. |

Cheap knock off of Batman combat with boring objectives. Story actually seemed like it was well thought out though but I dunno how it ended. I think I'm about halfway through spec ops. It isn't good. The enemy AI is real bad. The lighting in the game though is very weird/good. Spelunky is amazing. |
Started playing Torchlight 2 last night. I'll most likely come back to it after the Steam sale.

Still good old Borderlands 2. I'm on the final story mission on UVHM for the first time ever, playing as Krieg. Then it's back to Hunters Grotto once I have 96 Eridium to

Awesome soundtrack. Fun gameplay. The "story" aspect to it though isn't great and I'm hoping it's better in the sequel. |
Had to have a 2nd controller with "Guest" acct. and in-game char. to take down The Warrior so its health bar didn't reset every respawn, but still...
Krieg is also the 2nd character I've killed Terra with, and despite him being a Psycho, Terra dropped a legendary Slayer of class mod for the Gunzerker. Only problem? The only other character I've killed him with was Salvador, and Terra dropped that exact Slayer of class mod. FML |

I just started playing:
Assassins Creed II Skyrim Really enjoying both of them quite a bit, never played an Assassins Creed game, II is really good so far. Skyrim is pretty awesome as well. |
Got the GTA Collection and decided to skip GTA 3 since I played it quite a few times already. Starting with Vice City. Probably do SA after that to get ready to come back to San Andreas in GTA V. I've played through SA once or twice but I never could beat the final mission.
|
Just beat rage and catherine. Catherine was surreal and I imagine playing it repeatedly.
Rage....oh Rage.....how I loved thee....until you abruptly ended for no reason and left me like WTF BS. For being a rip off of a bunch of other cool games though it was a pretty damn good game. I'd highly recommend it to people if it didn't have the worst ending this side of White Knight Chronicles. |

Good point. I'm sure I'll end up with that and the Young Justice game eventually.

Preordered it already, yay lego Hulk

Tried Animal Crossing.
Don't have a clue what I'm doing. |
Which AC? Gamecube, DS, Wii or 3DS?
|
This New Leaf one, the 3DS game. I planted a tree, pulled weeds, and sold cherries.
I think I might be playing the game wrong. |
No, that's about right.
|
Though in New Leaf, you're the mayor so you can alter the town and change rules.
|
Just finished FarCry 3 and had a lot more fun with it than expected. Only rented it, but still...I'm seriously having a next to impossible time remembering the last game that made me care about the characters and story 9.5/10.
|
Coughed up the points and bought the add-on to Samurai Warriors 2. One of the few games where if you haven't completed it before you got your 1000 points, you were forced to get said add-on for total completion.
Should have this out of the way before Splinter Cell: Blacklist comes out in a couple weeks. |
Just finished ALAN WAKE, pretty good game, too bad Gaystar owns the Max Payne license now and not Remedy.
