The Perks Of Being A Wallflower 7/10

ClockShot 09-10-2013 04:05 PM

Riddick - 1.5/5

Bad editing and a rehashed story killed this.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-10-2013 05:07 PM

But what about Starbuck boob? :(

ClockShot 09-10-2013 05:13 PM

I'm better off watching her in Longmire or repeats of Battlestar Galactica.

Paul - 7/10

I don't know why I did not watch it before. I enjoyed it a lot.

mitch_h 09-13-2013 05:56 PM

Stranger by the Lake - Cool, stripped down french thriller about this homosexual guy who goes to this lake where gay guys "cruise". He witnesses this other good looking gay guy kill someone but doesn't say anything. I liked the atmosphere, but this probably featured the most graphic gay sex I have ever seen, including a close up shot of a dick being jerked off and ejaculating everywhere. Still a good movie and a subtle commentary on the dangers of desire and sex, I guess. 8/10

Fignuts 09-14-2013 02:37 AM

The Thing(2011)- 7/10

The original is my fav horror movie of all time, so already this movie had a a lot to live up to. It does a pretty good job. The CG effects were better than I thought they'd be, but they still don't compare to the original.

It's still good, but without Keith David and the Rus' memorable characters, and Carpenters classic cinematography, it's not quite as good. It also doesn't add anything to the story besides detailing what happened to the swedes. Was hoping that as a prequel, we'd learn more about the creature itself. Though I understand that the lack of intel on it adds to the scariness.

As a fan, I still really enjoyed it, and I rev omens it to fans of the original.

Fignuts 09-14-2013 02:39 AM

Admit it: you touched yourself during the gay sex.

I didn't have to. 75% of the people at this screening were gay.

Corporate CockSnogger 09-19-2013 11:21 AM

Oz the Great and Powerful - Alright. Really camp and cheesy. Enjoyable in some parts but a bit flat overall. Thought the whole Theodora turning into the wicked witch scene should've been such a huge deal, but the character was pretty underdeveloped for it to have any impact. Still not a terrible film though, but nothing special either.

Pretty disappointing really with some redeeming action sequences. Unbelievable in the thought that not even captain America came to lend a hand. They built the universe they should at least make it realistic enough.

The Internship - 9/10 (love Vince Vaughn so hard)
Hangover 3 - 4/10 (had a couple laughs but overall same old story)
Silver Linings Playbook - 9/10 (E-A-G-L-E-S)

Sandra Bullock channels Isaac Clarke and Ripley's persona minus aliens after all that bus driving over 50 mph for a bomb, beauty pageant plus, hacking computers really put to good use in this movie. The only enemies are space station debris and dealing with dead cosmonauts. It was Veritcal Limit, Speed, Apollo 13, and Dead Space feel to it..

It's about time she deserves a break from the crapola buddy cop comedy shit.

Gravity - 5/5

Alfonso Cuaron, you sir are one helluva visionary. I bow to you.

mitch_h 10-06-2013 02:08 PM

Now You See Me - Dumb movie that people kept recommending to me. It was okay at first but then it switched perspectives to the pursuers and it got awful. The twist reveal was really stupid (Woody Harrelson driving a bus) and then there were non ironic ideas about magician guilds throughout history and I just wanted to die. This seems like a movie that dumb people would find "clever".

Prisoners - This was pretty good, kind of reminded me of that movie The Ghostwriter where a paper back thriller is elevated by really good direction/cinematography. I was hoping this would go in a Zodiac like direction but all of the movies ideas are kind of thrown out in favor of plot. Good movie though and I really liked Jake Gyllenhaal.

Leviathan - Cool experimental documentary where the filmmakers just put cameras all over a commercial fishing boat. Interesting and original aesthetic that makes something pretty ordinary look like science fiction.

9/10.

25 yrs and he's still scaring the shit out of kids... The heroine is actually Chucky's daughter in real life considering Brad is the voiceover of him and they share the same last name.. Would've been a nicer twisted ending where father and daughter are now partners in crime ... Woman in a wheelchair gone insane under the influence of Chucky. And that backstory origin of Chucky as a serial killer befriending the heroine's family was a bit contrived but still, I liked it better when he was just some unknown stranger killer that has no history except he likes voodoo stuff and strangling people.. It was a better movie than the last one although Jennifer Tilly's cameo was a bit of self parody. Oh well, Chucky's still got it and we're still friends to the end.

My only gripe with The Curse of Chucky movie is
SPOILER: show
when he played Hide the Soul with the little girl, how come we never get to see his spirit transfer over her body?
What gives? Oh well, dolls live longer than humans I guess.

Extra ending after end credits btw will probably open up a sequel for it.

I read in some interview of the director saying that his plans for a sequel takes place after that ending but you never know.
SPOILER: show
Chucky never dies easily
in the movies. And I still don't get the part of
SPOILER: show
the little girl who played Hide the Soul with him.. And he never accomplished the feat. It seems offscreen that we don't know if she's infected with his spirit or not.

Hence why I said there needs to be a sequel to explain that.

Answer:
SPOILER: show
Another fucking woman who's a mom to these sick ass rapists and she endorses raping in general and she's married to her former rapist who also rapes the heroine.

The 2nd is just as extreme gore stuff as the first one, like balls being squashed, tased and ultimately slicing both of them, the guy's face being drowned in the dirtiest toilet full of shit and slicing abdomens open.

It is like an old man's The Hangover, except I have not seen The Hangover so I don't know if that's true et. al. I thought a few parts were funny but I couldn't tell if I was being affected by the movie theater setting or the crowd around me laughing. A few subtle things that I liked though so whatever. Near the beginning this lady turned around and told me and this Mexican girl to stop talking when we weren't really being loud and I just looked at her and started to laugh and was gonna ask her what her Final Four was but then my Mexican friend apologized and saved me from that.

Watched all the Saw films recently. I'd seen the first one when it first came out and I remember thinking it wasn't too bad. Wasn't awestruck by the series or anything but it wasn't as terrible as I've always heard it made out to be. Probably better than most other horror series' since it's actually got some solid continuity throughout.

A lot of pointless gore and some terrible acting though. The last one especially. Feel like the story on the whole could've made a solid tv series.

Limitless - was alright, decent enough watch but it didn't seem to fulfil its potential. Story seemed to just drop off about two thirds through

Cowboys and Aliens - found it really boring which I was surprised about. Was expecting to really enjoy it even if it was just a fun action film, but it just all felt really flat.
