The Perks Of Being A Wallflower 7/10
|
Riddick - 1.5/5
Bad editing and a rehashed story killed this. |
But what about Starbuck boob? :(
|
I'm better off watching her in Longmire or repeats of Battlestar Galactica.
|
Paul - 7/10
I don't know why I did not watch it before. I enjoyed it a lot. |
Stranger by the Lake - Cool, stripped down french thriller about this homosexual guy who goes to this lake where gay guys "cruise". He witnesses this other good looking gay guy kill someone but doesn't say anything. I liked the atmosphere, but this probably featured the most graphic gay sex I have ever seen, including a close up shot of a dick being jerked off and ejaculating everywhere. Still a good movie and a subtle commentary on the dangers of desire and sex, I guess. 8/10

The Thing(2011)- 7/10
The original is my fav horror movie of all time, so already this movie had a a lot to live up to. It does a pretty good job. The CG effects were better than I thought they'd be, but they still don't compare to the original. It's still good, but without Keith David and the Rus' memorable characters, and Carpenters classic cinematography, it's not quite as good. It also doesn't add anything to the story besides detailing what happened to the swedes. Was hoping that as a prequel, we'd learn more about the creature itself. Though I understand that the lack of intel on it adds to the scariness. As a fan, I still really enjoyed it, and I rev omens it to fans of the original. |
Go fuck yourself auto correct.

you should read the book :shifty:
|
The Story Of My Life : Part 1 - 0/10
|
Platoon: 8.1/10
|
Oz the Great and Powerful - Alright. Really camp and cheesy. Enjoyable in some parts but a bit flat overall. Thought the whole Theodora turning into the wicked witch scene should've been such a huge deal, but the character was pretty underdeveloped for it to have any impact. Still not a terrible film though, but nothing special either.
|
This is The End - 8/10
Pretty enjoyable and funny. "Laughed out loud" at one point in the movie, which I usually do not do. |
Riddick - 7/10.
|
X-Men First Class - 4 out of 5
|
Iron man 3 4.5/10
Pretty disappointing really with some redeeming action sequences. Unbelievable in the thought that not even captain America came to lend a hand. They built the universe they should at least make it realistic enough. |
Knowing: 6.6/10
Not bad. |
Elysium - 7/10
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Felt like they did an awesome job as far as the VFX are concerned. The dude from District 9 and A-Team was bad ass. Couldn't help but think of Tazz Dan during the screening. |
The Iceman - MichaelShannonIsStillTheFuckingMan out of ten
|
Moneyball - pretty sweet. No clue about baseball but that didn't really matter, really enjoyed the film. Should've just had John Henry play himself though, nobody can match his coolness

Machete - 3.5 out of 5
|
Men In Black 3: 8/10
|
Yes Man - Mostly shite. The book its based on is a million times better. Have you read the book? You should read the book.
|
I second that you should read the book. I literally laughed out loud on probably a dozen occasions.
|
Iggy can't read though, he's been faking it on the forum for years.
|
Got in a lot of movie watching on my flights to/from London.
42 - 7/10 (I liked it but it didn't really seem like there was ever much of a conflict in the movie; yeah the racism etc but I never really "feared" that anything was going to happen to Jackie through the movie) The Internship - 9/10 (love Vince Vaughn so hard) Hangover 3 - 4/10 (had a couple laughs but overall same old story) Silver Linings Playbook - 9/10 (E-A-G-L-E-S) Iron Man 3 - 7/10 (it was good, liked #1 the best still) |
MoneyBall
9/10 amazing movie for this time of year. |

Sandra Bullock channels Isaac Clarke and Ripley's persona minus aliens after all that bus driving over 50 mph for a bomb, beauty pageant plus, hacking computers really put to good use in this movie. The only enemies are space station debris and dealing with dead cosmonauts. It was Veritcal Limit, Speed, Apollo 13, and Dead Space feel to it.. It's about time she deserves a break from the crapola buddy cop comedy shit. 8/10. |
Gravity - 5/5
Alfonso Cuaron, you sir are one helluva visionary. I bow to you. |
Now You See Me - Dumb movie that people kept recommending to me. It was okay at first but then it switched perspectives to the pursuers and it got awful. The twist reveal was really stupid (Woody Harrelson driving a bus) and then there were non ironic ideas about magician guilds throughout history and I just wanted to die. This seems like a movie that dumb people would find "clever".
Prisoners - This was pretty good, kind of reminded me of that movie The Ghostwriter where a paper back thriller is elevated by really good direction/cinematography. I was hoping this would go in a Zodiac like direction but all of the movies ideas are kind of thrown out in favor of plot. Good movie though and I really liked Jake Gyllenhaal. Leviathan - Cool experimental documentary where the filmmakers just put cameras all over a commercial fishing boat. Interesting and original aesthetic that makes something pretty ordinary look like science fiction. |

9/10. 25 yrs and he's still scaring the shit out of kids... The heroine is actually Chucky's daughter in real life considering Brad is the voiceover of him and they share the same last name.. Would've been a nicer twisted ending where father and daughter are now partners in crime ... Woman in a wheelchair gone insane under the influence of Chucky. And that backstory origin of Chucky as a serial killer befriending the heroine's family was a bit contrived but still, I liked it better when he was just some unknown stranger killer that has no history except he likes voodoo stuff and strangling people.. It was a better movie than the last one although Jennifer Tilly's cameo was a bit of self parody. Oh well, Chucky's still got it and we're still friends to the end. My only gripe with The Curse of Chucky movie is SPOILER: show Extra ending after end credits btw will probably open up a sequel for it. |
You think Chucky is better than Gravity?

More of the same and what's worse than men ass raping a woman in this one? Answer: SPOILER: show The 2nd is just as extreme gore stuff as the first one, like balls being squashed, tased and ultimately slicing both of them, the guy's face being drowned in the dirtiest toilet full of shit and slicing abdomens open. 7/10. |
Gravity - Pass.Pass +

Gravity - 8/10
The AMC IMAX screen was utter garbage. The one back in Mass was a massive screen along with impressive sound and buttkickers. |
The AMC IMAX I always go to is really nice

I didn't expect Roxer to like Wes Anderson.
|
Fantastic Mr. Fox is good. Maybe even pass.pass good. Royal Tenenbuams I saw like half of in high school. Might watch it sometime this month since it's on my mind.
|
Royal Tenenbaums is my favourite Wes Anderson movie as of yet.
|
Rushmore - 8/10
Digitizing my entire physical movie collection was a very good decision. It eliminates the need to slip in a disc and pausing / playback is better. I get to control what I would like to keep and I can delete the rest. No warnings, trailers or menus to bother me. |
"a lot more better"

Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel - I'd seen half of it a few years ago and had always meant to try and find it on DVD or something. Some braud recommended it to me the other day and I was like "oh yeah!" so downloaded it. Fun and enjoyable, doesn't take itself too seriously.
The Adjustment Bureau - Really liked it. Love Matt Damon. Love Emily Blunt. |
The Expendables: 8/10 PASS
Movies like this are disregarded by most people, but when done with the verve and enjoyment which this film obviously was, they are great. |
Ball of Fury: 2.4/10 FAIL
Drek |
Dazed and Confused - 7/10
|
Machete Kills: 8.5/10 PASS
If Mel Gibson had more screen time this may have approached "10" territory; he seriously was that fun. Just as advertised, it was pure carnage and mayhem for an hour and a half. |
The Crow - 6.5/10
Really enjoyed the movie. I did not know that Brandon Lee was Bruce Lee's son and he died while shooting the movie. |
The Great Gatsby - 6/10
Leonardo DiCaprio was amazing as always. I feel like I should read the book as many have stated that the film strays away from it. The movie deserves to be watched on Blu-Ray or IMAX 3D. |
I am in the middle of watching The Great Gatsby. I don't know why. It is very bad. Maybe even fail.fail bad. Yeesh

Thor 2 - 8/10
I quite enjoyed it. I haven't seen the first so I can't compare the two, but I liked the humour and so forth. I really should see Avengers Assemble, as Iron Man 3, this film, and Agents od Shield; all reference events to it, and I feel that I am missing part of the story. |
how did you already see thor 2?

Last Vegas - fail.pass/pass.pass
It is like an old man's The Hangover, except I have not seen The Hangover so I don't know if that's true et. al. I thought a few parts were funny but I couldn't tell if I was being affected by the movie theater setting or the crowd around me laughing. A few subtle things that I liked though so whatever. Near the beginning this lady turned around and told me and this Mexican girl to stop talking when we weren't really being loud and I just looked at her and started to laugh and was gonna ask her what her Final Four was but then my Mexican friend apologized and saved me from that. |
This Is The End - Pass
Hangover 3 - Fail |
I only watched half of The Lone Ranger so it gets 1/2 fail/pass.pass

Watched all the Saw films recently. I'd seen the first one when it first came out and I remember thinking it wasn't too bad. Wasn't awestruck by the series or anything but it wasn't as terrible as I've always heard it made out to be. Probably better than most other horror series' since it's actually got some solid continuity throughout.
A lot of pointless gore and some terrible acting though. The last one especially. Feel like the story on the whole could've made a solid tv series. |
The Internship - 8/10

Indie Game: 7.5/10
the two guys who created Super Meat Boy were cool, but the other two guys who created Fez and Braid were typical hipster douchebags. Decent documentary though. |

Monsters University 3/5
It was a good movie but to me just seemed to try a little hard into getting laughs and the storyline seemed a little rushed to me. White House Down 2/5 entertaining action movie but thats about it. Not much of background on any characters other then some one liners that they mention in passing conversation |

Thor 2 - 9/10.
What can I say, I'm a sucker for MCU. |
Monsters University - 3/5
I enjoyed it but it didn't feel like anything special. |
Thor 2 - 6/10
I watched it for Loki. I did not enjoy the movie much. |
Prisoners - really good. Was gripped in the story from start to finish. Might be Jackman at his utmost best.
The Mist - Probably as good of a stuff jumping on people film as you can get. Limitless - was alright, decent enough watch but it didn't seem to fulfil its potential. Story seemed to just drop off about two thirds through Cowboys and Aliens - found it really boring which I was surprised about. Was expecting to really enjoy it even if it was just a fun action film, but it just all felt really flat. Taken 2 - it was aight, nothing special though. Didn't really add anything to the first one. Completely forgettable really. |
