Ant Man - 4/5
A little slow to get going, but came out good in the end. Paul Rudd held his own rather well. |
Black Swan: 5.3/10
Fucking overrated. |
Ex Machina - 8/10
|
Pixels - 6/10
Enjoyable, worth a rewatch. Some of the jokes fell really flat |
Ted 2-5/10
Meh. Some of the jokes were funny but overall it was an underwhelming, overly long experience. Felt pretty unneeded. |
Adore - 1/10
|
Trainwreck was a solid 8/10. Had a waiter come to my seat and give me popcorn and soda. Cool. Went the first night it was in theaters.
|
Would be so annoyed at someone bringing my thngs in the middle of the movie.... go away... I am trying to immerse myself in a movie....
|
Minions...8/10 Hilarious.
|
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation 7/10
Solid outing. |
Interstellar: 3 out of 5
To long. Ham fitted yet confusing message. Seriously what was the main theme? Science is a noble endeavor pursued by jerks? Don't trust authority? Love and gravity will will conquer all? The worst thing about relativity is I stay the same age and the chick's keep getting older? The movie was beautifully shot and there were some tense moments. But I was begging for it to just end. |
About Elly - Really good Iranian movie about a girl who goes missing on a beach during some group outing. When I heard the plot I thought it would be derivative of an Antonioni film, like it would just be beautifully shot scenes of people staring. Instead there were lots of twists and turns and it subtlety critiqued the patriarchy of Iranian society.
Jurassic World - Surprisingly enjoyable. I thought I was going to hate the I-Rex but I like that they made him a heel dinosaur who just kills mercilessly. The characters were a bit shallow and nothing about the film was spectacular but nothing was offensively stupid either, fun movie. Ted 2 - Pile of shit. |
ant man - pass

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation 7/10 - was good. I think I liked Protocol more.. But gotta admit of the hot-ass Brit shilling agent. Tricky bitch.
The Scarehouse - 9/10. Sorority Row meets Saw. All kinds of disgusting from forcing a woman eating her own stomach after being flayed alive plus using a rib to loosen the ropes. |
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 6/10
|
Ant-Man: 8/10.
Was a bit slow to start but was pretty alright. Still don't know what to think of Paul Rudd.... Movie reminded me a lot of the first Iron Man movie, but not as good. |
Face/Off - 8
Was pretty decent, Travolta plays a bad guy well. |
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 8/10
Was Tom Cruise as fuck, a couple parts kinda had me scratching my head but overall fantastic |
Mr. Homes 4/5
|
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - Good movie, I thought it was the best paced of all the MI films, it lacked some of the highs of the previous films(like when Cruise climbed that tall building in Dubai) but it avoided the lows and third act problems of the those films. I also like that despite there being five of these films there is very little in terms of back story or character development, It's like everyone knows people just want to see Tom Cruise do cool shit and that is what he does. No pretensions to these movies.
Trainwreck- Pretty overrated I thought, I guess because Amy Schumer is the "it" comedian right now critics had to make this movie a big deal. I find her funny but I thought she was not that good as a leading actress... but it might have been because of script problems. First half was funny and seemed to channel her comedy and point of view but then it morphed into a standard romantic comedy mixed with the worst Apatow indulgences. Cena was good though. |
The Man from U.N.C.L.E 5/10
|
Mi55ion Impo55ible - pass.fail
|
Feel like I saw another movie recently too
Why bother seeing movies/participating in life when you can't even remember them |
Stoker 7/10
|
Stoker got be worked up in my pants.
Straight Outta Compton - 6/10 It was long. |
Lincoln 7.5/10
|
Amira and Sam - 7/10
|
The Man from U.N.C.L.E - 2/5
I had really high hopes for this. Guy Ritchie struck gold with Sherlock Holmes, but this not so much. Hammer & Cavill didn't jive well together as Downey Jr. & Law did. The supporting cast of nobodies didn't work, either. Maybe a sequel could fix things? Or maybe just leave it alone? I don't know. |
|
Straight Outta Compton 6/10. I already knew the whole story, so it was nothing new.
|
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - 9/10
absolutely loved it |
Might go see that one... was undecided because I have heard "mixed things"....
|
Everything about the movie just screams "this won't work" but I found it surprisingly enjoyable.
|
I have the hots for the Ex Machina actress who's in the movie.
|
Prob go see it... dunno... not like anything else I really want to see comes out until November...
|
Ugly - 9/10
It has been a very long time since I last saw a gritty Indian thriller film. It's currently streaming on Netflix. |
Legends of the Fall 7.5/10
|
Wrestlers vs Zombies - 5/10
The movie is bad but it's one of those movies that it's so bad, it's good. But it's only good if you watch it with friends like I did, as it makes the movie funny and you can all have a laugh at how bad and cheesy things are. If I had watched it on my own, the rating would be lower. Also, there are a lot of wrestling references which some of my friends didn't get. For example, the term "jobber" was used and one of my friends thought it was hilarious and asked "Did he just say jobber? What the hell is that?". Some friends also thought it was funny when Piper hit a zombie over the head with a coconut. They didn't get the reference and thought it was one of those "silly random B-movie things". There are a few bad mistakes, such as Roddy Piper's T-shirt constantly changing colour. In one scene, it when from white to blue and back again, about ten times. The main villain has the worst Irish accent of all time. It kept changing from Irish to Scottish. Also, Shane Douglas is a dick throughout the film. And.... SPOILER: show The Raid 2 - 7/10 I enjoyed it, but it was more "plot heavy" that the last one. I did enjoy the fight scenes though, but it did feel like it was quite slow to begin with. |
Hitman Agent 47: Meh. Although I liked the body armor being injected to feel like a bit Terminator-ish in it. Some say this was a bit like Absolution cos of the plotline.
6/10. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNuQSYkVEAAoo0e.jpg been on a Nightmare on Elm Street marathon on DVD to pay tribute to the late Wes Craven. I love them all. :( |
Theory of Everything 8/10 I guess. Kinda disappointed he didn't have his helicopter wheelchair like in the Simpsons.
|
Kingsman: The Secret Service 9/10
One of the most purely fun movies I've seen in a while. Picked it up as a rental and spent the whole time either laughing or silently cheering. Vaughn is a damn genius. |
American Ultra - 6/10
Dear White People - 6/10 |
Mission: Impossible:Rogue Nation: 4/5...I thought it was fun for what it was
|
Jupiter Ascending - 4/10. It was like Guardians of the Galaxy without the fun, the Matrix sequels with extra exposition, a healthy dose of Masters of the Universe, and a couple of cool Fifth Element-esque creature designs.
|
Hot Girls Wanted (2015) - 5/10
Not that good. Seemed really rushed, like it was someone's freshman "short film" or something that they quickly put together. Idk... Some interesting parts I guess. Bottle Rocket (1996) - 8/10 Good... Funny. |
Mad Max: Fury Road - I dunno, it was ok, don't see what all the fuss was about though.
|
Let's Be Cops - 6/10. I can see why people would hate it. But I laughed a couple times, which is about all I ask for out of a comedy. It'd get a better score if the plot was better, but I was entertained enough to keep it above the halfway mark.
|
STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON - 8/10
bye Felicia |
The Man From UNCLE - 6/10
|
We Bought A Zoo - Sunday afternoon fodder, 6/10
|
Terminator Genisys-5/10
Big jumbled mess. One action set after another while uninterestingly retreading and erasing the existence of the previous films. John Connor idea was kinda neat but he's just another lame duck bad guy. Hope this is it as they're getting progressively worse. Emilia Clarke clutching her breasts nude was the best part of the film. Age of Ultron-7/10 Entertaining if not a bit forgettable. Lots going on made it seemed a bit over stuffed. Too many characters. Ultron was kind of rushed into and was the typical meh marvel bad guy. He was cool but everything seemed so fast paced. Worked with the first one sinc Loki already had a film to develop him. Not so much here. Also, second wave of the team feels like a step down. Overall it was fun. The language gag with Cap and the hulk buster scene were most enjoyable by me. |
The Visit - 7/10
Wow! M. Night Shyamalan actually pulled off a decent movie. Maybe it was the audience in the cinema hall. |
Sinister 2: Not much panache as the 1st but a decent thriller until it turned into Children of The Corn-ish plot ending. 6/10.
Asterix: Mansions of the Gods - 7/10. This comic series is totally underrated.. A bit funny at times. :p |
Do The Right Thing - 8/10
|
Divergent 7/10
Insurgent 7/10 |
Rush 8/10
|
The Machinist 8.5/10
A rather off-kilter film. |
Stop torrenting so much El Vaq!
|
Watching stuff on Prime, chief.
|
Man Up - 8/10. Solid British rom-com. Made the flight thoroughly entertaining.
|
The Room. 10/10
|
@TheFraze You're tearing me apart, Lisa!
There's a small independent cinema in the downtown area that was showing it. Good stuff. |
Finally saw Guardians of the Galaxy 8.5/10

Anomalisa - Cool stop animation movie from Charlie Kaufman about a guy who is depressed and everyone looks and sounds the same to him. It kind of feels like one long scene more than a movie but I thought it worked really well and it was very funny and weird and even touching at times...so a Charlie Kaufman movie. I think I liked it more than Synecdoche New York.
8/10 |
Oh damn that came out...
edit: oh at TIFF... cool |
Saving Private Ryan - 10/10
|
First time, Dave? Really?
|
I never seen it....

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - 10/10

Can't believe that you saw it for the first time. It's like the most "hipster" movie of its time.
|
Dare I compare it to Garden State.
|
National Lampoon's Class Reunion-7 outta 10
The second NL movie. And it bombed. Pretty funny. And a neat kind of spoof of the then red hot slasher subgenre |
Time Lapse-7/10
Movie about three friends who find a giant Polaroid camera that takes pictures of the next day. The characters didn't seem legit friends but it's a pretty clever time travel movie. Thoroughly enjoyed it. |
Black Mass - 5/10
|
Everest 6.5/10
The Reader 8.7/10 |
The Reader was interesting.
|
The Cabin the Woods - 9/10

The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials - 7/10 Not as good as the first one... seemed "all over the place".... Still "ok" I guess.... Just seems "weird"..... |
Macbeth (2015) 8.5/10
Some heavy shit, man. |
Haunter - 7/10
You're Next - 7/10 The Day - 3/10 The Purge: Anarchy - 7.5/10 |
The Martian 9/10
Go see it. |

http://www.flickeringmyth.com/wp-con...er-600x852.jpg This movie has feminist 3rd wave message all over it: Rape culture via street harassment, cat-calling, pedophilia rape and taking justice in to her hands instead of reporting to the police.. This is gonna trigger some feels to it.. lol. Quite enjoyable gory stuff too: Cutting off dick while sucking it and biting.. Bruutal shit! 9/10/ |
Edge of Tomorrow - 3/5 Typical Tom Cruise film, lots of running, shooting and explosions.
Birdman - 2/5 Not a terrible film, but pretty boring considering all the praise it got. Sightseers - 2/5 Obscure film, knew nothing about it in advance. It was alright. Let Me In - 1/5 See Birdman. |
The Martian 9/10
Very good movie.... If you're expecting some alien sci-fi thriller.... then you obviously know nothing about the movie you are about to see. |
The Martian - 8/10
|
Sicario - 4.5/5
|
Super - 3/5 Good film, but the Kick-Ass comparisons are inevitable, and KA is much better.
8 Mile - 4/5 Never cared about this when it came out, thinking it as "an Eminem film", but finally got round to watching it and really enjoyed it. From Paris with Love - 3/5 Nothing special, but good, fun action movie. John Travolta was entertaining. |
Sicario 8.7/10
|
Paranormal Activity - 2/5
After hearing so much about how scary it is, I finally got round to seeing this, and thought it was a load of bollocks. Boring, and wasn't scary at all. |
Saw 'The Visit' earlier. Better than I expected it to be since it's an M Night film. I like found-footage movies and I would rate it as decent. Not great, not terrible.
Since it is an M Night Shyamalan film I figured there would be a twist, and there was and I guessed it before it was revealed. Worth watching if you've 90 minutes to spare. 3/5 SPOILER: show http://www.impawards.com/2015/posters/visit.jpg |
Marvelous - 3/5 Was alright. "feel good" kinda movie. But boring at times.
Nightcrawler - 4/5 Really enjoyed this, interesting plot etc. Nothing more to add really. Been watching too many movies lately. Need to do something more with my life. |
