Split

3.5/4. Really enjoyed it. Nothing terribly fancy, and I'm glad we never went to the "is he faking it?" territory that would have been a huge drag. That last scene was unexpected and really really cool. If you haven't seen it and plan on it, I hope you haven't read the spoilers. It isn't a normal M.Night "twist" like (barf) The Village. Has nothing to do with the main movie.

The Fate of the Furious - 3/5

Some of the other entries are better than this. But, this was good.

Blonde Moment 04-22-2017 11:11 AM

The ReZort- 7/10
Nice little zombie movie that does pretty good with the budget given

slik 04-23-2017 12:42 AM

Phoenix Forgotten - 8/10.

It felt like a love-letter to the late 90's, so authentic. A true gem in the found footage ocean, er, desert.

Ezra 04-23-2017 04:47 PM

The Founder - Good movie. Keaton, as always, just dominates. You definitely have to feel sorry for the McDonald brothers for not getting the royalties for their invention and design. Yeah, the million a piece set them for life but it was still a bit harsh.

4/5

Kong - I know a lot of people I know didn't like this movie but I enjoyed it. An all star cast with good effects made for a nice action flick. Looking forward to see how this monster movie franchise rolls out.

3/5

Seanny One Ball 04-25-2017 12:08 AM

War On Everyone - 8/10

Very very funny. It has the style of those amazing Irish comedies that keep appearing out of the blue.
If you like Perrier's Bounty, The Guard, Calvary and that awesome Irish Stag weekend film you will love War On Everyone.
It rivals Seven Psychopaths for hilarious dialogue.

Wanted to see Fast and Furious tonight but was 10 minutes late to the theater so I checked this one out. I really really liked the movie but it definitely has flaws. Chris Evans is really good in it. Didn't really have any expectations for it since I really didn't know what it was about at all, but it was a tearjerker for sure

the movie was great. john goodman was great. the 2 other actors were great. The ending was kinda meh. But the build was great.

road doggy dogg 05-03-2017 09:24 AM

I really liked that one. I thought the ending felt 'tacked on' as well. I get that it's part of that "universe" or w/e but I thought the movie would've been stronger without that part.

Seanny One Ball 05-05-2017 02:28 PM

It was a completely independent script that was bought by the Cloverfield franchise and had the shitty ending added.

It's not a great film anyway. It reminded me of that dreadful movie "The Divide" with Michael Biehn.

slik 05-05-2017 11:12 PM

I'm just glad they put a stupid cat in danger and not a nice little doggie.

Seanny One Ball 05-16-2017 04:07 PM

I rewatched Alien and Aliens recently and the first one blew my mind all over again. The bit where Ash goes mental/malfunctions is mental. The third one was pure ass but killing off the kid and Michael Biehn immediately was probably the main cause of that.

This was not a comic book movie. This was a Will Smith movie. His fucking speeches and stupid oneliners. Does he have a "I need to say the movie title" clause in his contract?

And fuck's sake, they all became friends, or even according to El Diablo "family". I like cheesy, but that was just cringeworthy.

I liked Harley Quinn, though. Especially her ass.

Not a Star Wars fan, not a fan of sci-fi in general, but this was actually really good.

Frank Drebin 05-20-2017 05:42 PM

Alien Covenant: 3 out of 4

Solid entry. Gives a handful of answers I guess. Setting up more movies but still good. If you like Alien and/or Prometheus you'll like this.

Seanny One Ball 05-24-2017 05:14 PM

Star Trek Beyond - 8/10. I thoroughly enjoyed the story, the action (that sequence at the end had my head spinning with terror, I hate heights) and Karl Urban was fucking great. He even made me laugh. I have loved these last three Treks so much more than all of the Star Wars and other Treks. I hope they do a couple more someday.

Seanny One Ball 05-24-2017 05:23 PM

Suicide Squad - 6.5/10. I was surprised how well made this was. Will Swith and Margot Robbie restored my faith quickly and set the standard well. I was not into Leto's Joker at all. Jared Leto is an amazingly talented twit.

Getting burned out by 13 Reasons Why. Still have 3 or 4 episodes to go and the characters are really starting to wear on me. The explanation of why everyone is acting strange is painfully slow and then it still makes little sense.

I'm not sure it needed 13 hours to tell this story like it was fucking Game of Thrones or something. I'm still going to finish this, but it's going to be a grind even though everyone keeps telling me how brutally amazing the end is.

The movies plot/message at its core was very good. An honest look at the nature of modern war. The failing are the characters. None were remotely interesting least of all the protagonist. I would say the worst part of the film was brad pits performance whuch might be a first.

Yes. Its a comedy, though the only real joke in it is the nature of modern war, which would be funny if it werent true.

All of the structured jokes as just plain bad, mostly due to the uninspired characters.

Sepholio 05-30-2017 05:37 AM

Savages. 7/10.

Enjoyable action flick with a decent story. Generic though. Also uses a cliche fake ending swerve that I'm tired of now. Still overall a good watch.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell no Tales: 5/10

Ugh. I REALLY wanted to like this movie. I love the Pirates franchise, I'm a huge mark for it. But this one just seemed like a bad Pirates parody movie. Jack Sparrow has been Flanderized so much. Fuck, the entire cast has been. Henry was basically a carbon copy of Orlando Bloom, and the busty chick was just a poor man's Keria Knightly. The whole movie felt like it was going through the motions. I get it, that's kind of what this entire franchise is, but it felt especially egregious this time around.

Lock Jaw 05-30-2017 11:00 PM

Yeah...... Henry and Busty Chick both very much felt like Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly "budget friendly replacements"........... Both were not very good......

I too am a big Pirates fan. I thought the action sequences in DMTNT were on the whole much better than Stranger Tides, but though the story and acting were much better in ST.

Jack has really become a parody of himself. There wasnt much point in really having him in this movie.

Thought the ending scenes were nice.

I need to rewatch this again to really see my feelings on it.

If they make another, I hope its a more grounded film. They have done too many supernatural storylines.

Cool King 05-31-2017 04:50 PM

Event Horizon - 7/10

Lock Jaw 05-31-2017 07:45 PM

The film was being produced as Johnny Depp was going through a bitter divorce from his wife Amber Heard. He was chronically late to the set, to the point where it ate into the schedule as the set often came to a halt for hours at a time. It got to the point where a production assistant was hired just to wait outside Depp's house and announce that he was awake when they saw the lights inside come on.

IMDB "trivia" for the newest Pirates movie......

Wonder Woman-9/10

Landmark film. Diana is strong, confident, and fierce as well as soft, bright eyed, loving and naive, and acts with conviction. Gal Gadot has officially arrived.

Chris Pine was great. The supporting cast served a purpose to further Diana's character, including the villains.

It was funny, dramatic, exciting and action packed. The scene where she comes out of the trenches is one of the greatest comic book scenes I've personally ever witnessed. Wonder Woman arrived right then and there.

This film was everything Man of Steel was supposed to be and more. Hats off to D.C., Patty Jennings and the cast for creating what I think will be the definitive super heroine movie and the equivalent of Chris Reeves Superman when it comes to shaping the genre for female comic book leads.

God I loved this movie and cannot wait to share it with my daughter some day.

In all fairness she was rail thin. To get credit, she busted her ass and went from model thin to looking like an athletic well put together woman. She deserves all the credit on the world for devoting herself.

She seems like a genuinely great person. Which just makes her even more beautiful. That smile tho
