WWE RAW Weekly Thread
Since raw isn't that popular and a lot of people quit watching and posting about it, instead of a weekly thread this is the new 'ongoing' thread for it (ala SD thread).
|
just jacked off. Looks like a month of jacking off on Monday nights. Thanks for reminding me!
|
What time does AEW come on guys?
|
wednesday at 8ET/7CT on TNT
|
WWE probably has something very shenanigan worthy in store for tonight's triple threat #1 contender's match considering they've never used the "sudden death" tag line for a #1 contender's nor triple threat match before.
|
This Elias vs. Jeff Hardy feud might be the dumbest feud of the year in WWE. Elias knows who ran him over months ago and even teased its Sheamus but yet still doesn't care and somehow thinks its Jeff instead despite him not being a red head
This Symphony of Destruction match also quickly went down the tube in terms of quality. |
Yikes at the back of Jeff's head smacking the steps from that Swanton Bomb to the table on the outside. Why the hell was the table placed that close to the steps to begin with.
Match itself was average at best. For a feud ender, didn't seem like WWE cared that much since they had some dumb 24/7 title stuff going on at the same time early into the match. |
Retribution still in the very unsalvageble tier as a group.
Took like 3 distractions just for Slapjack to be able to beat Ricochet and one of those was done by Dana Brooke who was yelling at Ali at ringside. |
Based on that Miz TV segment, guess Sheamus really did randomly turn face when he gave Drew that sword a few weeks ago despite also still acting heelish towards the other peeps on Team RAW on the side.
The amount of recaps and videos on this show so far really feels like Vince and Creative half-assed tonight's script even more than usual. |
 at that ropes botch by Lana and Nia.
Lana pulled down the ropes way too early making her look really dumb since Nia wasn't anywhere close to being near the ropes and Nia wasn't even running towards her. Then Nia somehow decides to just run though the ropes anyways making her look equally as dumb. |
just saw that on twitter...not watching and it sounds like I haven't missed anything
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">WTF is Nia doing █♂️ <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WWERaw?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WWERaw</a> <a href="https://t.co/9da7RtuDPN">pic.twitter.com/9da7RtuDPN</a></p>— david lawton (@lawtondavid1) <a href="https://twitter.com/lawtondavid1/status/1333596773261193216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 1, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |
That was the only good thing about that women's tag match.
Your not missing much since this show is trending heavily towards worst of the year tier. I've been playing games on my Switch while watching tonight's show almost right from the start since its been that dull and meaningless so far. |
Cedric Alexander vs. Xavier Woods was pretty good despite the abrupt ending. Match felt like it was about to hit that next gear or had a couple minutes of juice left before it suddenly ended.
|
 at the production botch for the Phenomenal Forearm spot.
Either someone in the back was way too late to switch the cam shot or blew the surprise for the ending since Styles setting up for the move wasn't meant to be caught on camera. Match itself was pretty good. |
 at this commercial for this week's Smackdown advertising that Corbin was screwed out of his match last week against Murphy.
|
 at Mia Yim getting rid of her mask after doing just 2 moves in the match. Don't blame her since that mask always looked like it was a bit too loose on her face.
:| Dana beat Mia. |
Drew McIntyre has a great body. I wish that was my body. Might be my 2021 goal.
|
 at Styles talking trash to Drew while getting carried away by that very tall bodyguard of his.
Main event tag match was pretty good despite that lame DQ ending and Miz being made to look even dumber than before with that cash-in attempt. If the idea was to get the case away from Otis because he didn't look believable or worthy then Miz has looked even worse based on his booking as its holder. This week's show was barely watchable overall. |

Man, I don't think I've enjoyed one Miz TV segment this year.
|
That's because Miz sucks.
|
Why do they show a slow-motion replay of Riddle kicking off his flip flops? Dumb
|
Quote:
|
Miz had a similar situation to Jericho this year I think. Was meant to spend a big chunk of the year away from TV on other projects (Fozzy tours for Jericho, TV/ambassador work for Miz) and of course COVID shelved everything.
|
Can't believe they unmasked Reckoning, the El Santo of the Raw Women's division.
|
Retribution did not make the cut
|
Triple Threat was v good
|
lol has Morrison ever actually hit Starship Pain?
|
lol AJ talking shit while being carried away
|
I haven't watched WWE since after Mania. I honestly miss it a bit but not the product that I've seen for the last 5 or so years. I mean lets all be honest its been getting worse and worse since the Invasion. But really the marker for the decline for me was all of the greats retiring. Which of course was bound to happen. I guess that truly aside from Roman they haven't created anyone that draws my interest. I do wish I could see a compilation of the Roman/Uso's story because that seemed to get a lot of praise and was probably pretty good but there is no way I'm going to go through all of the shows t took to get to the finish.
|
I have fond memories of the time period right after the first brand split, but when I tried to do a Network rewatch I realized that man, Raw was still awful, it just seemed tolerable because I was in middle school at the time.
Heyman-era SmackDown still holds up though. Switched it to a SmackDown-only watchthrough and was better off for it. |
According to Fightful, the script for last night's show was only finished around 25 minutes before it started.
Part of the reason was due to Vince as usual and the other part was some stuff that was "beyond their control" like Bruan's injury since the main storyline for the road to TLC was supposed to be him vs. Drew for the WWE title. Quote:

Card and preview for tonight's RAW. Also the last one at the Amway Center before WWE heads off to Tropicana Field.

Not sure if that game show parody Firefly Fun House segment was either the dumbest or the best out of all of Bray's skits this year.
|
What’s the best thing about Raw these days?
|
Oh sweet, a 20 minutes ladies match.
|
Quote:
Storyline-wise, like nothing despite RAW having an extra hour to work each week with unlike NXT and Smackdown. |
 at WWE adding in fake crowd noise to this recap video of last week's Drew & Sheamus vs. Miz & Morrison match.
|
 Dana pinned Reckoning again.
This Retribution storyline and booking utterly sucks. Only saving grace is all the laughs its been providing because of how bad its been. |
 at Drew breaking part of the stage tron with that pretty amazing toss of the MitB case.
|
Kofi vs. Shelton was pretty good.
Think they legit did the finish that was supposed to happen a couple weeks ago since it involved the same two people and led to the same post-match promo from Hurt Business about wanting an immediate rematch. Only difference was this time it was a singles match while a couple weeks ago it was a tag match. |
Drew McIntyre & Sheamus vs. The Miz, John Morrison, & AJ Styles handicap match was very good I guess.
Was zoned out of the match early on since this whole show has been mostly nothing so far and there is still 50 minutes left to go. Sheamus accidentally hitting Drew with a Brogue Kick and Drew chucking the MitB case at the stage earlier have literally been the only really interesting stuff about tonight's RAW so far. |
 at Drew and Sheamus beating up Pat Buck because he tried to break up their brawl.
|
So is Riddle's new gimmick of him being someone who's insufferable to be around?
RVD wasn't this lame as a pothead character as Riddle's current character has been. |
This Orton vs Bray/Fiend feud is soo dull. Didn't help that tonight's Orton vs. Bray match was a typical boring Orton style match and it ended in a no contest via Fiend's lights out shenanigans.
Highlight of that match was the commercial break bit by Bray. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">lol Tom got jacked<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/WWERaw?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#WWERaw</a> <a href="https://t.co/CNjg9NG48t">pic.twitter.com/CNjg9NG48t</a></p>— GIFSkull III (Backup) - #njbosj #njpw (@SkullGIF) <a href="https://twitter.com/SkullGIF/status/1336156816103727105?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">December 8, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> This week's episode was very skippable overall. Seriously considering taking a mini-break from RAW at some point soon since these shows are barely worth sitting through. |
In fairness, you're about the only person not taking a break from it at this point.
|
Card and preview for tonight's RAW:

Safe to cross out Styles name from the winner's list at this Sunday's TLC show.
Sure WWE didn't go the lazy route of having Styles wrestle and beat Drew on the go-home show but the way he beat Sheamus and the post-match attack was typical WWE style go-home show booking treatment done for someone losing at a PPV. |
Hurt Business vs. Jeff Hardy & New Day was very good.
Really think WWE has been playing the same 5 second loop of background crowd noise for these ThunderDome shows for some time now. Gets really annoying to hear once you notice the same exact pattern going on and on during matches because of how very short the clip is. |
 at Lana beating Nia in a singles match.
Nia and Shayna haven't won a single match in this Asuka & Lana feud since it started. Think they are 0-4 now. at Asuka taking her sweet time to save Lana. Waited till after Lana's leg got obliterated by Nia and Shayna to show up. |
Guess the Jaxson Ryker and Elias pairing really is a thing now for RAW.
So what was the purpose of punishing the other guys in the Forgotten Sons for as long as WWE did if in the end Ryker was brought back to tv as if nothing happened. |
 at Miz & Morrison beating Keith Lee.
Vince really did turn Lee into just a typical WWE style lumbering big man wrestler instead of the more athletic and faster moving big man guy he was in the indies and on NXT. |
If there was ever a segment this year that was channel changing inducing bad, that Firefly Fun House segment easily takes the cake.
Up there with "This is Your Life Bayley" and "Old Day" for worst WWE segments in recent years. |
 Retribution actually won a match for once.
Sure the match itself was whatever in terms of quality and full of shenanigans that Ricochet almost managed to overcome but a win is a win. |
Another loss in a row for Shayna & Nia since they started feuding with Asuka & Lana except this time it involved Shayna losing to Dana via DQ.
Lana getting written out of TLC because WWE booked themselves into a big corner for the Women's Tag title match is a bit hilarious and sad at the same time. |
Orton really has a random fascination with wanting to burn stuff if Bray is around.
Tossed Bray into a box after ambushing him in a dark room backstage and then lit it on fire but whatever murder plan Orton had backfired after the Fiend suddenly popped out of it. |
This might be the most NXT commercials WWE has aired during RAW in a long while.
Like 4-5 so far even though its just the same 2 commercials being repeated. Usually NXT is lucky if they get at least 2 commercials per week on RAW. |
 at the random epic music being played in the midst of AJ Styles' promo because Drew's WWE title was being raised to the ceiling ahead of their match at TLC.
This week's go-home show was somewhat average in the sense that the first half was pretty good even if not that much actually happened while the second half was mostly terrible until the main event segment with Styles and Drew. Only really interesting thing was that main event promo and attack segment at the end of the show. For 3 hours shows, WWE really does give very little reason to bother watching RAW if you missed it or stay interested if you do, especially when the show hits its lull point since it can easily last for like half a show. |
Holy shit this show sounds atrocious.
|
Card and preview for tonight's RAW:
Quote:
|
Wait until Raw's rating is better than Dynamite's from 5 weeks ago!
|
Not even 8 minutes into the show and Charlotte already teased she wants to go after Asuka's RAW Women's title.
|
Whelp WWE going right back to the Legends well to prop up their struggling RAW ratings since a Legends Night themed show just got announced for 2 weeks from now.
|
 at Asuka saying Mandy and Dana's team name should be "Sexy Muscle Friends"
WWE not holding back at all in plastering Charlotte all over tonight's show. Opening promo segment, on commentary during this #1 contender's women's match, and just announced to be in a tag match later against Lacy & Peyton. |
Quote:
|
30 minutes for a promo segment and tag match that made the #1 contender's look like a bunch of nobodies in the end.
Why even have Nia & Shayna win the match if the whole purpose was for Dana & Mandy be the ones standing tall in the end and have the real stare down moment with the women's tag champs. Nia & Shayna didn't even do anything heelish to trigger the post-match attack beyond just looking at Asuka & Charlotte. |
 at R-Truth photobombing Hurt Business' photo shoot.
|
Trying to watch RAW but I'm not seeing any big changes in tone or quality so far
|
Anything notable happened in the last 30 minutes or so since I missed it all?
Last time I'm bothering wasting a ton of time replying to any ratings stuff in the AEW thread since its just been spinning the wheels for any real discussion there. Completely regret ever responding to a drive-by style post by Noid since that triggered the whole headache of a discussion there. |
Going to assume this Alexa's playground bit is that conflicted rumored "dark adult content" USA Network wants for RAW ... or just someone in creative being on crack when they wrote this Orton & Bliss segment.
I'm leaning more towards crack. |
HOLY SHIT this commercial of Drew and Cena beating up 2020 is amazing lol
|
Quote:
|
They broke up the Iiconics for this
Fuck everybody |
Quote:

Guess WWE suddenly remembered the Women's Tag champs can cross brands and even more Charlotte cramming on shows about to happen now.
Only actual team SD has is the Riott Squad so I guess that's the challengers for this week's SD show. |
Quote:
|
6-Man Holiday Street Fight was pretty good overall despite it mostly plodding along until the final 5 minutes or so.
If this week's show was meant to be WWE's response to last week's record low numbers, then it was a huge swing and miss. Felt no different than any other RAW in recent months in terms of quality nor even showed any real signs of starting to change for the better. |
LOL "Raw Legends Night" in two weeks featuring Flair, Hogan, Big Show, Torrie Wilson and many more. Right on cue, just in case you thought WWE might actually do something creative for their ratings woes.
|

That's the point, nothing WWE does matters because they have no fucking quality long term plans/goals, let alone even any quality short term ideas/plans that will matter a month afterwards. At least AEW is trying things that are at least short term interesting/entertaining and that might but might not make an impact long term. WWE's "long term" plan is to do a half ass build to WM by bringing in "some legends" every week or two that won't be around two weeks after WM and their role in WM will have no impact 3 months later because they'll still be more over than anyone on the current roster. |

He makes the show unwatchable. I get sea sick watching it.
|
Bored and decided to tune in. Hurt Business has only one good talker. Matt Riddle is being treated like a dumb cool stoner a la RVD and he wasn't very good on the Mic.
|
Angel Garza doesn't have matching gear and boots and shitty finisher.
I like the piped in sound. |
AJ Styles with a backstage interview and is now headed to....an interview segment with Miz.
|
Why is Miz explaining himself to Styles? Are they friends?
|
Why would you apologize for trying to win a world title lol. This segment is silly.
|
McIntyre doesn't look intimidating in a quilt. And this segment and stupid Christmas story thing with the dumb babyfaces is stupid.
Sheamus and Keith Lee are obviously idiots, as is Samoa Joe, for creating drama are Lee was kicked into Sheamus. |
Mustafa Ali looks like wish app Roman Reigns. Always gotta other 2 sizes up off this China sites.
|
Is retribution supposed to be like a mad max group?

Quote:
Their ridiculous looking masks do give off Mad Max villains vibes though. |
Lmao BLM. They look bush league.
|
3/4 of a bottle of Jag....Alexa is amazingly cute...
|
Interesting how aj's "bodyguard" has yet to actually do anything besides be an oversized Jewellry stand.
|
Alexa...on a swing...only thing that mattered.
