Let's talk about Jey Uso
What do y'all think?
At one point seemed to me like he was "for sure" in line to be a world champ after Roman finally lost the belt. "Main Event" Jey Uso had spirit, heart, grit, and a rough angry edge to him. However, now I feel like he has gone too far into a cartoon caricature with the cringey "yeet" stuff, with the plastic-y ring gear and sunglasses..... pretty much lost all of his "edge". I don't know if I see this version of Jey Uso being a world champion ever. It is over as heck for sure, but dunno... just feels like a step down in his character. Of course, in this modern age with two world titles and things like Money in the Bank, anyone can be a world champ "ready or not"..... so who knows.... Quote:

I think it's one of those things that was "in place" before other situations came to be. Remember, the Bloodline story is (allegedly) something that was outlined to reach for years and years. Jey was supposed to emerge to be the hero from all this... but then you have other things take place like Cody and CM Punk re-appearing, talent like LA Knight getting over in a way unexpected by WWE, Randy Orton being able to get back in the ring, being able to sign both the Guerillas of Destiny and Jacob Fatu, and even Bray Wyatt passing away.
As such, Jey went from being an obvious choice to try to make "the face of the company" type guy, to someone being lost in the shuffle after the Meltzer catchphrase happened repeatedly. He *could* still be slotted to be that guy if a lot of bullshit takes place like how the RAW landscape changed with Punk, Drew, and Rollins all getting hurt... Priest kinda feels like he got the "next man up" treatment out of neccessity. It could have been something as simple as deciding to have Judgment Day on Smackdown that could have seen Jey be that guy right now. |

His “acting” is really good. When he whips off those glasses and mean mugs, he’s got the intensity and all that. But the whole “Yeet” thing is a bit cringe and I don’t love his ring work lately. I’d like to see him in a feud with someone who isn’t in the family. Damian Priest doesn’t count.

I hope this wouldn’t be for a while, but heel CM Punk could get something out of Jey Uso.

I'm shocked the Usos are doing this well on their own.
SHOCKED. |

I could see him beating Damien for the belt.

I hope Jimmy Uso comes back with a new gimmick. We’ve seen Surfer Jimmy, now it’s time for Crow Jimmy.

He certainly seems to be going for being an over character who moves a ton of merch instead of a serious contender. That is fine BTW, but he has to get serious again at some point, or he runs the risk of being stuck as super over midcard guy.

The idea of either of them being a credible singles act seems silly to me

I had thought so too, but Jey really set himself apart and I could have believed him being world champ. Now, not so sure.
Pretty much agree with xrod.... he's got a ceiling on him now as a popular merch mover with an over character... but one that would need to get serious again should he want to get past that ceiling. |

I liked Jey Uso’s interactions with Bron Breakker this week. They have a good aura when they face off.

I don't watch week to week so I don't really care about "ruining Bron's momentum" or whatever.... glad Jey finally won a title... feel like you can only go around calling yourself "Main Event" for so long without ever actually winning when it matters. (Not that the IC title is "Main Event")

Bron is phenomenal. His gimmick is that he is the jock who talks a big game but doesn’t realize how far left he has to go. He can afford to lose. You’re right in that your babyfaces eventually have to call a shot and make it. Bron is fine. |

Solo Sikoa is so underappreciated. He is excellent at what he does.

But maybe you aren't referring to his matches or this match in particular. |

I thought this was 100,001 replies honestly lol. But I got thinking about Solo because the Jey/Sami friendship stuff is STILL paying off. I’m interested to see what they do with Jimmy too.
