The evil eye looked pretty great.
Would scare a child. Hats off to McGregor for doing a pretty good Alec Guinness homage. |

That little bit of Hayden as Vader was also really believable.

Hes not a pacifist either. I feel like if it was anyone else you'd have a point, but we've seen how much death and destruction follows Vader. To allow him to continue that feels to me like it goes beyond mercy, and into stupidity. Kenobi is compassionate and merciful, but also willing to do what needs to be done.
I guess I felt they didnt give me a good enough reason that hed leave him alive, especially after seeing what hes capable of after doing so the first time. Add to that, he flat out says, Anakin is truly dead. So he wouldnt be killing his friend but rather this thing that is just destroying everything it comes across. |

I mean Obi-Wan was Anakin's brother as much as Luke was his son, and Luke couldn't kill him either.
But I agree that the show didn't explore enough emotions to tell that story with the appropriate gravitas. For such rich characters, the writers really made the show feel skin deep. Then it tries with the Wrestlemania moments (Obi letting Darth live) that lack the proper legwork to truly make sense without the appropriate cannon-based mental gymnastics. |

Heroes letting the villain live for the sake their ideals has always been a sticking point with me. A slippery slope, if you weeeeeellll. Its a classic trope. A great one even. But for me, it has to make sense. Once the villain does too much, too often, then the hero sticking to their pronciples, starts to look less heroic, and more selfish.
And again, for me it comes down to Kenobi having already made the choice to spare him once before and seeing the misery and death that followed that decision. I need a VERY good reason why he would choose to make that choice again. But the show didnt really give it to me. |

All that said, I still enjoyed the last two episodes. As a whole the series was okay. Hoping Ashoka is Mando quality. Andor looks a lot more interesting than I thought it would.

You Star Wars fucks will never be happy.
You’re the reason that little fella from the first prequel went insane as an adult. |

Nah, plenty of star wars stuff that I love. More than I dislike for sure.
And the kid went insane because of psycho's who can't distinguish between a real person and a part played in a show or movie. Its a phenomenom that plagues a lot of fandoms and I've never been able to wrap my head around these people's mindsets. |

He was pretty bad though.
No child has ever been as good as Freddie Highmore was in anything. Most kids acting skills are more like Freddie Highmore is as an adult. Something went badly wrong there. He’s now only playing people on the spectrum. Must have used up all of his juice on those emotional scenes as a kid. That or somebody molested all of the joie de vivre out of him many years ago and now all that’s left is a husk that sounds retarded. |

I wonder how much of it was the kid's fault and how much of it was Lucas' dialogue and direction.

Just watched it.... loved the duel...
Overall the series was good. Felt like some of the cool Star Wars comic books they've been doing, but instead of making a comic they said F it, threw a bunch of money around, and did it live action. Even 6 episodes the way a typical comic book arc these days is 6 issues. I predicted from the start that one of the points of the entire series was gonna be Darth Vader flat out telling Obi-Wan that he killed Anakin to justify Kenobi later telling Luke the same thing. Like others, yeah, I feel like they should have had more reason for Kenobi to leave Vader alive this time. Feels like at that point at that moment he should have felt ok ending it. Feel like I want to watch A New Hope again and look for any evidence that Leia doesn't treat Obi-Wan as a complete stranger. |

Why doesn’t Wedge have his own show yet?
The Cantina Band could be the musical act for his talk show. |

obviously screw anyone who used this as an excuse to be racist, but still can we acknowledge that the 3rd Sister is one of the dumbest, worst written characters in Star Wars history?

Same thing when vader force pulls a ship into the ground, then immediately forgets the force powers he just used and lets the other ship go. Just absolute dogcrap writing.

she's not great. also both the black characters having hard american dialects made them feel REALLY out of place. i guess theyre from space Compton. always feel like english and southern are the only 2 dialects that feel right in the setting.

as far as the community being racist most of that is manufactured. its fake twitter nonsense. very little of that is 2 authentic people. and on the rare occasion it is 1 tweet from 1 rando. most though is hate marketing which has proven to be VERY effective.

Honestly, best part was the final battle between Kenobi and Vader. otherwise this series sucked fat balls and was completely fucking pointless. added absolutely nothing to the story of Star Wars .

Luke and Han have non-acents. not rengional at all. leah had like a vaguely regal non accent. it was non with a dab of english. "american accent" isnt a thing btw. its a big place. we have dozens. the thing you mean is "american" is the what the radio used to call the non-accent. also called the neutral accent. its not from anywhere. when a foreigner speaks in "american" they learn a non-accent.
which sounds fine in space films. its generic. same with nuetral-english. southern always works for working class folk in any medium. if youre doing rustic space southern works for whatever reason. really specific accents like cajun or northern-albertan sound fucking weird galaxies away. truly bizzare. you immediately feel the fourth wall shatter. |

Fischer didnt. not initially anyways. her natural speaking voice is much harsher. so softened her voice up for most of her roles. listen to her in interviews or even when she would sing and its a much more masculine voice

Hollywood didn’t invent the generic yank accent, that was probably the South by way of mockery.
The generic Southern accent sounds like it comes from mockery too but then so do all of the individual Southern ones so maybe that’s just how they sound down there. |

I don’t think the Transatlantic accent was a Hollywood invention bud. It caught on there but it was a social thing more than anything.
Cary Grant is the epitome of that accent and most of the best examples will be from Hollywood but that’s only because most widely seen old film is from movies. It was definitely around before films spread the appeal. |

The pioneer of the dialect, William Tilly, literally deliberately taught it to actors as a method to popularize it in hopes it would spread "correct speech" in his mind.

the number of rich coastal elites in america in the mid 1800s is like 50 people. this accent was manufactured into existance chiefly by one mans efforts and rose to awareness culturally specifically through its usage in film. and since youve already established you think wikipedia is an arbiter of truth there's really nothing more to be said on the topic
