And how has YOUR January been? Amazing how we're already wrapping up the first month of the new year. Hopefully you spent it enjoying all those lovely Christmas presents and you stayed warm while doing it. We're ready to kick off this week's edition and close things out as we head into February. Last week we took a look back at Nintendo's Punchout! franchise, namely the NES edition that sported the man himself, "Iron" Mike Tyson. Although how amazing would it have been to get a wrestling game in the same fashion with the likeness and inclusion of "Iron" Mike Sharpe? Anyway, ponder that over while we take a look at the final score for Punchout!.
Apparently, Little Mac and his quest to reach the top of the world of boxing filled with colorful characters (to say the least) was endearing enough to earn high marks from all of us. Never bet against the little guy, I suppose. Punchout! breaks through the glass ceiling and claims a spot in the elite top ten with a 4.6 score, just making the number 10 spot and kicking Super Mario Bros. 2 out of the running. You all felt it was a strong contender and as a result, Little Mac takes his place among the great champions.
But can he, too, be dethroned? Is this only a temporary status? What's next in line that could pose a threat? Let's do this, bowl!
Thanks a lot, bowl. Well, well, well, it looks like we need to dive back into hell. More accurately, it's hell coming to Earth and the only solution is a lone, mute badass and a lot of guns...and a chainsaw. id Software graces us once again with its presence as this week we take a look at the sequel to its monster juggernaut of a PC game. Load up your double-barrel shotguns and let's get to blowing away demons. It's Doom 2! Doom was a phenomenal hit back in the nineties and the sequel looked to continue its legacy. But how did it fare in your eyes? Is Doom 2 a worthy follow-up to the original? Is there enough fire in its pits to rocket it to the top? It's all up to you guys. Rate to your heart's content (only once) and let's hear what you have to say about this game. Until next week!
No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes...
