I prefer Hansen's lariat as well, for the same reason as you. JBL's always seemed the same -- definitely a nice looking lariat. But there was a certain sanitization about it...it always looked the same.
Hansen's was unpredictable. Sometimes it'd look sort of like JBL's lariat, and other times it was akin to a knockout punch. He'd fucking smack someone... and instead of them taking some massive, showy bump, they'd just drop like a sack of shit. Probably because he actually hit the person and flash k.o.'d them before they could bump lol. Also, Hansen's psychology with the lariat was better. He'd do little things like pull up his elbow pad to make it seem like he'd have to "protect his arm" because he'd hit you so hard. But it was always a great visual and the audience would react. |

At 2:30: Macho: Roddy Piper were you ever on the receiving end of something you didn't want to come your way. Piper: Nope Macho: OOh, that was a quick answer but not sure we got a truthful one right there. Anyone else recall the Roddy Piper Alfred Hayes story? He definitely didn't want to be on the receiving end there. |

Apparently AEW managed to have a segment hit the 1 million viewers mark during this week's episode of Dynamite.
Think that is only the second time that's happened for them since the coronavirus really started to ravage the ratings for televised wrestling.

Seems WWE might be planning to run a tournament for their NXT UK brand whenever they are able to resume shows for it.
Would be called the NXT UK Heritage Cup based on a recent trademark filing. They also filed a similar trademark without the NXT UK tag and possibly for use for non-NXT UK brands. |

Currently watching GCW's Homecoming show since it just started after some technical issues and the ring they are using is tiny.
Could just be the camera angle but the ring somehow looks a tad smaller than the one NJPW was using for their Young Lions series. |

ACH's GCW debit was pretty decent overall.
Not sure it was a wise idea to have a very lengthy and slow paced match in 80+ degree heat though since it did affect the match's flow at times. The Scramble match before it was a much better mix of action and match timing for an outdoor show in that type of heat. |

Mance Warner vs. Chris Dickinson was such a great hard hitting match.
How Dickinson hasn't been signed to a notable big promotion is a mystery since the guy has been great every time I've seen him in GCW. |

This Blake Christian vs. Alex Zayne match has been amazing. They weren't joking when the commentators said it was going to produce a ton of gif moments.

Ouch at doing a Slice Bread #2 spot on a barbed wire board. This death match has been pretty crazy and very bloody so far.

Jim talked a bit about the Mama Cornette character, as she was a real person, but never appeared on camera. He mentioned this promo. I must say, he didn't cut very many of them, but this babyface promo is better than most folks best promos.

at that giant panel of glass covered in barb wire that just got brought out.
Whatever they are planning isn't going to be good at all. Yeup, that spot was brutal. One-man Spanish Fly from the top rope onto the glass that was setup as a impromptu table. |

Considering the amount of light tubes and doors GCW uses up during their shows, wonder if they get a bulk discount on them.
Nick Gage vs. Shlak being a death match since that wasn't listed earlier for the show. However crazy the first death match was, this one is easily going to top it in terms of brutality. |

Ouch at that spike DDT Janela took.
This has been an amazing comedy-based match so far. Janela actually won DDT Pro's Ironman belt. Wonder if he's going to bring it to AEW television. |

he ripped his spandex tights a bit too much for the surprise reveal. Almost pantsed himself in the process. |

GCW World title match was decent. Wasn't really into it after the all the crazy stuff that happened prior in the show.
Only really interesting stuff that happened in the GCW title match was some guy in the crowd shouting out "Why are you so fat?" to the champ and the fork to the wang spot. Show itself was great. Out of the 9 matches on the card, only 2 felt like duds for different reasons. |

Dear Emperor Smeat,
I've noticed that you seem to watch all wrestling pretty much so I have a few inquiries. What is your favorite promotion? Least favorite? Do you only watch new wrestling or do you watch old as well, and how old? The reason I'm asking is because I feel you may be the the purest of all of us. Myself am over saturated with product 100% I'd usually rather watch whatever the latest Netflix hit show is like "Dating on the Spectrum" or "Down to Earth With Zac Efron." I mean when it comes to today's wrestling how many times do I need to see the overly protected suicide dive, and why should I be watching anyone abuse the super kick beyond The Young Bucks? The over choreography of a lot of today's wrestling is what really dampens my spirit. Seeing the red thigh from the slap for the knapp. Canadian destroyer every match.... yeah I know I'm describing the basic Young Bucks or Lucha Bro's match but they are amazing. They are the best of the best. Everyone is is not the best of the best but tries to have a Wrestlemania show stealer crammed into whatever time frame they are given for their match. |

Least favorite - Impact Wrestling. Less so about the actual quality of their shows and more because I rarely felt hooked or interested whenever I'd watch beyond some brief periods. Last time I saw a regular Impact episode was during the Final Deletion stuff and stopped after that was over. In regards to old wrestling, I watch that from time to time. Mainly stuff from the Attitude Era since I have more fond memories of that period of wrestling than other periods. Usually all depends if I'm in the mood for some classic wrestling or if something peaks my interest that was posted or talked about online. In regards to modern wrestling, never really had a problem with it becoming very athletic or spot-heavy for matches since around the early to mid-2000s, I started to enjoy that style of wrestling more than WWE's story and promo-heavy style of wrestling. |

Currently watching GCW's Homecoming Part 2 show although missed out on almost all of the first half because of internet and computer issues. Seems the first half was pretty good and had a great death match bout based on some of the online chatter for the show.

Scramble match was somewhat short in length but was amazing in terms of high flying action. Ton of flips and dives and even had a one-man double Frankensteiner spot.

One of these days I want to go to a GCW show but they usually don't run shows anywhere close to where I live nor have anyone to go to a show with since they either all moved out of the state or stopped being wrestling fans years ago.

Joey Janela vs. Lio Rush is about to happen.
Supposedly this is Lio's retirement match from wrestling. Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 07-26-2020 at 09:32 PM. |

Yikes at Janela almost crashing face first from that suicide dive to the outside.
Extra yikes at Janela getting busted open from the corner post and broken shards of glass on the outside shortly afterwards. |

at Rush taking a spiked Package piledriver and a double stomp with a chair.
Match has been pretty good so far although nothing really special outside of a few big spots. |

Holy shit, Janela is crazy.
Jumped from the top of one of the poles along the boardwalk and not only did he smashed through an impromptu table, he might have also boinked his head on the boardwalk floor.
Match itself was pretty good overall although would have been way better if it was like 5-10 minutes shorter. at the "Fuck Cornette" chants during Janela's post-match promo and praise of Lio Rush. That might have been the best promo I've ever heard from Janela. |

This main event match turned from being a handicap hardcore match to a light tube massacre and death match in an instant.
