Rate the Game: Week 152
It's spooky season again! Does this mean that the bowl will shine some of its mercy on us and let us tackle some spooky games for this month? Probably not, but nevertheless, we must persist! How about for starters we take care of last week's Jet Set Radio and find it a spot on our leaderboard? That sounds good, right? It apparently passed a lot of us by, but for those who did play it, we had quite a range of reactions to it. Ultimately, how does it fare?
Ouch. Spot number 135 is a rough one, any way you want to slice it. Jet Set Radio gets a 2.75 overall score and finds itself a home on the low end of the list. And we were on such a run! Well, maybe we can kick start another streak of well-received games. How about it? For week number 152, let's see what we'll be dealing with.... Yeah, here we go. Alright, so this week we're travelling back to our PC history and examining one of the platform's more recognizable names. It's first-person shooting and multiplayer chaos at its finest...or maybe not. Let's take a dive into Unreal Tournament! With the rise of competitive online action, did this game have enough muscle to capture your attention and praise and be worthy of being one of the top titles of the PC library? Does it have enough to separate itself from the Dooms and Counterstrikes of the world? Let's hear what you think. Until next week.... No matter what may happen to me, just remember Lzzy Hale gave me the bedroom eyes... ...again. |

I played Unreal Tournament 3 on a friend's copy for the Xbox 360, but this one passed me by as Quake 2 and 3 were taking up my online PC gaming time.

Voted never played it but in reality I played a handful of few matches at most.
Now if this was Unreal Tournament 2004, it would get a 4 to 4.5 for a score since I enjoyed that one a lot and was the first UT game I ever played. |

I probably should have picked the original game, but I remember this one being more prominent. It was right up there with stuff like Quake 2, Rainbow Six, and Starcraft.

Ouch, things aren't looking good for this entry. It's looking like I'll have to do a new one for the week if things stay on this course.

Peak arena shooter multiplayer for me. Halo never quite grabbed me the way this game did. Only reason it doesn't get a 5 is that it just had its basic multiplayer modes and nothing else.

Assault sounds like a neat early version of what was Invasion in Halo: Reach. I remember a lot of these games at the time, especially Quake 2, were experimenting with different forms of game types. Stuff like Capture the Flag and King of the Hill were top. It sounds basic now, but back then it was pretty revolutionary.
