How much do you think the size of many of today's heels hurts general interest in the product? I just watched the clip of Owens and Strowman from Raw. Psychologically, it just doesn't compute to me. Character-wise, I get that Owens is a shit. But what sort of threat is he? Strowman doesn't look good beating him up and Owens doesn't look great looking like a cowardly piece of shit. The narrative from the storytelling ignores all these elements. It treats everybody like they're the same size (except for when Braun needs to be called a "MONSTER!"), and everyone works like weight classes aren't a thing.
Bobby Lashley and Sami Zayn are another example. Zayn is great at talking and he's incredible in the ring, and yes, he makes a great obnoxious jerk. But how is him working with Bobby Lashley convincingly believable? Every time these big-ass dudes go on the defensive covering up from these heels who hit all their shit on them, I wonder if Joe Average in Alabama is sitting at home going "What the fuck is this shit?" It reminds me of those video games from DC, where the Green Arrow can somehow hang in there and hit 8-hit combos on Superman or some shit. |

Like, if Vader were in the WWE today, he would chase a heel Ricky Steamboat around the ring, and then Steamboat would kick him as he came in and be in control with a chinlock and stomps for 10 minutes as Vader struggled for air.

That is such a horrible looking spot. Like why would he stop mid-stride and jump in the air? So dumb.

Watching a 98 Raw. Sign in the crowd:
"Sable can't wrestle, but I'd like to see her box" Incredible. |

Sarah Logan bothers me. I mean, besides anytime gives her a mic.
Her mannerisms are odd to me. You know how in wrestling games when you do stupid shit like give Undertaker the entrance of Trish Stratus or some shit? Yeah, she seems like a female reskin of Trevor Lee, and I can never unsee that anytime she stomps her way down to ringside. |

Whoever does Sasha's makeup should be fired. Because this is a rare moment of WWE Television where she doesn't look like a horse. |

Sasha looks physically great in those segments. She didn't come off as great, but disregarding all other context.

I'd be surprised if AJ/Rusev headlines the show. I imagine it will be Roman/Lashley, since that is the main WWE storyline. It's also possible that Team Hell No closes it.

Apparently ROH's Jay Lethal is currently dealing with sexual harassment allegations from a former co-worker in the company.

Lol, Cody Rhodes took a good dig at Triple H on Twitter. Suggested that Deona take one step forward during the photo op, because he likes to make people look short. Fucking great.

Wasn't Extreme Rules supposed to have a 5-way match for the Raw #1 contendership? And now it's just Lashley vs Reigns? Was there storyline reason for this change, did WWE just randomly change it or am I imagining the 5-way match?

I just saw a promo from a "dark" Johnny Gargano in NXT. I haven't been able to put my finger on it, but something about him just means I can't take him seriously. I put my finger on something today. He looks remarkably like one of my goofball friends. I never noticed it during his matches, but I noticed it when he was trying to act. But I don't think that's entirely it.
Something feels really "crafted" about everything he does. I like that the guy puts effort in, and that they are trying all these different things with him, but there's just something "Dolph Ziggler" about his promos, where it sounds like he is trying to cut a good promo. Content-wise, I liked this one, to an extent. His breathing got weird and creepy, and it's obviously he's trying to force these emotions out, and at least emotions are coming out. But it just feels so...goofy. He finishes the promo by saying: SPOILER: show I'm nit-picky with the guy since everyone seems to love him, but more and more he just rubs me as a dude trying really, really hard to be this heavyweight presence that he's not. |

The theory is that they are trying to babyface whoever goes against Brock because Brock is *boo* leaving the company *boo*. That's all very cute until you realize the company have heeled themselves time and time again, the belts don't matter, the new belt has been with Brock for a majority of its existence and no one buys it for a fucking second. And it all goes out the window the moment Brock does show up to defend it. He's only a pussy that won't fight until he does fight. Then he's the big fight fighter. It's so fucking stupid. It's a bunch of dudes acting like high school girls who struggle wrestling The Miz and Sami Zayn coming out and trying to land cool disses on each other -- one of them in protective gear -- and saying Brock doesn't care, boo-hoo, until he walks over and beats them up. |

And it always reminds people that Brock gets to call his own shots because he is so far above everyone else in terms of cred. They try and spin it like they are hard-working or some shit, but it always comes out like "please like me just because I'm here."

I feel like they COULD (in theory) build Lashley as a badass hero if he were to take the title off Lesnar before he runs off to UFC. Probably gonna try an underdog story with Reigns finally "overcoming the odds" no one cares to see him overcome and beating Lesnar though which will be hilarious.

The story going around is that it's going to be Reigns, but I don't know why they'd have Reigns beat Lashley this early on. Plus, Lashley was reportedly told the plan was to get Brock at SummerSlam. It doesn't really make sense for Vince to not deliver on that. And, in theory, Lashley beating up Reigns should have positioned him perfectly for the title shot, because everyone likes to see Reigns get beaten up.
But they've dont Lashley no favors. Working with Sami Zayn in Chicago. It didn't even dawn on me how dumb that was until I saw it. Crowds generally wanted to be polite to Lashley, but that was a major faux pas. They've done the lame sister shit, they've had him talk and he's flubbed his lines. If there was a chance to tap into his size, legitimacy and whatever charisma exists when he's just being himself -- it feels like it's gone. I expect the crowd to completely shit all over Reigns vs. Lashley at Extreme Rules. I feel like Lashley is done. Not in terms of a push, but in terms of him winning people over with his current presentation. |
