This is one of the things that sticks out to me watching Memphis wrestling. The heels gets a beatdown long enough to get heat, and then a bunch of faces, led by Lawler, would come in to save a day. Sometimes it's just Lawler himself, but it gets a bigger point across. Poor sap in the ring getting his ass kicked but he's a good guy, and people don't want to see the good guy get hurt. And when Lawler comes out, it says to the audience that he sticks up for the little guy. By leading a charge, it says to the audience that he is the kind of person every other good guy looks up to and they'll back him up because of it.
That does more than declaring yourself the Big Dog or having "good matches." Wrestling is a visual medium. Show, don't tell. Wrestling as an Athletic Performance will always make less money than Wrestling as a Morality Play. |

Vince and co. do not understand the basic premise of show don't tell. Every promo is exposition. It's infuriating.

It's not only exposition, but it's often redundant exposition. I noticed it a few years ago, but Seth Rollins cut the same promo on the same show twice, and to get to that point they didn't need it in the first place.
Plus, it's often exposition in the form of an inauthentic, pantomimic soliloquy. People don't trade zingers like they try to get their talent to. They all look like fucking losers. Give me someone foaming at the mouth that is less concerned with being verbally articulate and more concerned having some actual fucking pride in themselves. |

Exposition is sometimes necessary but should always be used sparsely. It's the very definition of telling instead of showing... or even worse, telling and showing as a way to tell the fans the reaction you want from the.

Does he even say that he's cheating to win? Isn't it closer to "Yeah, I got my ass kicked. I don't know why I'm getting another shot, frankly I don't care, I'm just The Big Dog and I'm ready for a Big Fight."

One of the biggest problems with WWE is that they look down on the intelligence of their audience. They think kids are stupider than they are, and can't attract them, so they end up doing on the nose exposition with a bunch of 38+ men. |

WWE has literally forgotten that the idea of a fight is to win it without getting beaten up.

Or when they do get involved, it just comes off as trying to get some cheap cheers than the big face star being concerned over the wel-lbeing of his pals. Reigns has been an offender of this in recent years. |

They have so many continuity problems. Kurt Angle is a glaring example of this. They make him out to be the biggest fucking idiot as General Manager.

They forget that your babyfaces have to do likable things and that just acting as if a babyface is a babyface isn't enough.

More time has passed between Brock Lesnar's WWE return to present day (6 years, 3 months) than between Brock's last match before going to UFC and his WWE return (4 years, 10 months).
Seems weird that it's been that long. Mostly because the product has felt the fucking same for nearly the entire time Lesnar's been back and, frankly, probably a couple of years before that. |

Andrade "Cien" Almas is the fucking man. Zelena Vega is amazing. Almas is who I would eventually have dethrone AJ, but not for a few more months.

I've been watching a shitload of wrestling today. More than in a long long time.
Not whole matches, though. Top Ten lists like "Top 10 most embarassing repackages" etc. |

Rusev?
WWE just needs to get fully behind him to build up his star power more since he already has the crowd invested in him. Had Bryan not been relegated to tag stuff, he would be another great choice to dethrone Styles now. |

Now I started watching matches.
Taker vs Hardy in a ladder match. That's interesting. |

No but Macho Man once tried to pin someone during a Rumble. Then again Macho Man also once eliminated himself during one as well. Might have even been from the same Rumble.

Joe could do it. I'm fine with Styles taking it into Mania against Bryan though. Almas can beat Bryan for it.

If Styles takes the belt into WrestleMania, he will surpass Shawn Michaels, CM Punk, Randy Savage, Brock Lesnar, Triple H and Bret Hart in total days spent as WWE Champion on the way. They make for interesting story beats as you march towards whoever wins the Rumble and challenges Styles.

I could be wrong, but he may have had knee surgery recently, accounting for the lack of size on his legs (what with not being able to train them).

Yeah at least in recent years, that seems to be the growing trend.
The ties between football and wrestling go back decades with several good players in the past going into wrestling because it paid better or was easier to make the big bucks. Then you have others like the Rock who were decent or good at the college level but never went beyond it prior to becoming wrestlers. |

Ernie Ladd is usually the one that gets mentioned the most but supposedly Dusty Rhodes was good enough to be coveted by NFL teams but turned down offers to go into wrestling instead.
