We have a couple of important things in common to do with our love of wrestling timeline-wise. I feel a bit more connected to you and the history now. The Mankind/Taker feud was something I saw a bit of in Canada and it helped me talk my dad into getting Sky(cable) TV. |

I always used to get my mate Keith Munro to tape it for me before Sky.

"Keith Munro" is a pseudonym my mate invented to blame things on and that I use to this day to fill in for names I forget...and other reasons.
Keith Munro cannot be trusted or well liked. |

They say they tried with him. I thought putting RVD into his program with Jack Swagger was a mistake. Just ride Cesaro's crowds reactions and let Cesaro outclass his former partner. I always thought Sheamus would have been a good opponent in Chicago (which is what they did), because Sheamus was a babyface (Cesaro was still a heel, just one with appeal to smart crowds) and you could have had Cesaro outclass him to a great pop. I was not really in on breaking up The Shield, so I think Money in the Bank should have gone to him. What happened was that the Triple Threat distracted from Cesaro, they had to put Sheamus over Cesaro because he won the US Title inexplicably, and Seth was getting MITB. So Cesaro, this apparent world class competitor, lost a lot of steam from the booking too. It didn't help that Heyman was clearly getting notes that changed the directions of his promos from "Cesaro is going to be the guy" to "Cesaro is going to be a guy" to "Brock Lesnar, Brock Lesnar, Brock Lesnar." Ass. So while there are clearly flaws with Cesaro's personality game, I don't think the booking helped him. They don't book to cover up weaknesses in WWE, and they don't book to fostered strengths either. As a result he has ended up valuable, but not someone that is easy to get enthused about. Of course, he will probably get a push in about 5 years randomly and after everyone has totally believed there was any chance of it happening. |

The thing with this shit is that people who are genuinely engaged with the product are probably going to ask this sort of question. "Is Nikki a Raw girl or a SmackDown girl?" Because on the surface, they actually believe the brands matter, because that is what they were told. So there are probably a bunch of earnest people out there genuinely confused as to what the fuck is going on and having that engagement challenged. It's bad television filled with continuity errors and loose ends that never go explained. They actively make this hard for anyone who honestly wants to give them a go. It might seem like a little thing, but shit like that matters. When you make rules, you need to follow them, or at least know how to break them. WWE does none of this. And they expect to win a fucking Emmy? |

According to the Observer, both Pentagon Jr and Fenix are now expected to not be leaving the indies for the WWE till at least 2020.
Before they were rumored to be bolting next year to the WWE but now it seems they are starting to book indie dates again for 2019 after previously being non-committal towards them. MLW already locked them up for all their 2019 events while the situation in Mexico is very much in their favor for staying. |

lol. Actually I think you're equipped for Noid's idiocy. But be warned, he triggers easily. People bust his balls about his ramblings all the time and he just deflects because he lacks the ability to be even moderately self-reflective.

205 Live got bumped again from its time slot on the WWE Network.
Similar to last time, the new season of Mixed Match Challenge is taking 205 Live's regular spot but unlike last time, new episodes of 205 Live will now air before NXT on Wednesdays. Being rumored this might also be a permanent change and not just lasting till the end of MMC season 2. |

If it’s not going live they should record it before SmackDown to warm the crowd up, rather than having a burned out crowd post SDL

Is it me or does it look smaller in terms of height? Doesn't look nearly as tall as the one Shane went flying off a while back, and that's without the ring being there for scale.

In what should is no shock but also tragic news, Vince is said to be the one in charge of the Evolution PPV.

I finally got around to doing my now usual "Sunday Thing" of watching Raw & SmackDown from 2002.
I was supposed to be watching Judgement Day 2002 today but I didn't have time to watch Raw & SmackDown last Sunday so I watched them today instead and will watch Judgement Day on Saturday so I can be all caught up for next Sunday. There wasn't really much to point out or say about the two shows other than they were quite enjoyable. I noticed a big difference in the episode of Raw I watched where Booker T was announced at the new member of The nWo and what Raw is like now, in that in the episode of Raw I watched, the audience was always being given a reason to stay and watch, be it title defenses, appearances from big names or the main one, who the new member of The nWo would be. All the way through the show the audience were being teased with this reveal of who it could be and through the work of some good promos, that you could tell came straight from the minds of the wrestlers themselves, the audience at home were always being told to stay and watch the show. Now, the audience get nothing like this and the WWE's reason nearly every week to watch Raw these days is basically them saying "Hey guys, Roman Reigns is on the show tonight and he's going to beat up all the bad guys, sometimes all at once!". Raw doesn't even have regular title defenses/changes like they used to from around 2002. Anyway, before this evolves into a post I would usually reply to Noid with, the usual bullet points of random thoughts: Raw: • I'm actually quite surprised that Shawn Stasiak had the amount of TV appearances that he did. I've always remembered him being in the WWE and I've always actually kinda liked him, but I can't really remember him appearing on Raw the amount of times he actually did. This episode of Raw even show fans with Stasiak signs. Something that actually made me say "wow" to myself, as I couldn't remember seeing any Stasiak signs when I first watched Raw around that time as a kid. I liked his little crazy quirks he used to do, like his twitching/face pulling that he was doing during his backstage segment with Eddie Guerrero where Guerrero asked him if he's on drugs. It's the little things like that that I didn't really pick up on as a kid. I remember how he use to talk and I always liked that but it's the little things like the twitching/face pulling that really helped and added to the gimmick. • This Raw was the debut of the "A Day In The Life Of Tommy Dreamer" vignettes and those are vignettes I remember extremely vividly. I loved them and I still do. • It's probably because I was a kid at the time but I didn't realise how good Steven Richards looked back then. He looked to be in great shape and it's probably the best I've seen him look. • Finally from Raw, here's a random SpongeBob sighting from the show. SmackDown: • Some random French-Canadian midget came bursting out of a cupboard brandishing a camera, only to tell Stacy Keibler that he was "here with Panasonic's new e-Wear AV Recorder". He kept emphasising the letter "E" and appeared and then disappeared yelling "EEEEEEEEEEEEE!" so I'm assuming he was a character from Panasonic's adverts for the device and that was his catchphrase or whatever? That was obviously edited out when it was broadcast over here in the UK because it's an advertisement but I didn't know that something like that actually existed, so this was the first time I had ever seen it and I just watched it in complete bemusement. • There was an almost ten minutes of constant cheering for Hogan as he stood in the ring, which when it ended, Hogan called the crowd "awesome" and I think that if that happened today, the crowd would have broken out into a five minute "We Are Awesome" chant. • Finally, a sign during Rico's entrance that is one of many wrestling signs showing bad grammar: (Just like last time, it's the difference between "Your" and "You're" that these sign makers seem to have a problem with) |
