Some marketing exec has decided that PSN will be SEN (Sony Entertainment Network) from 7th Feb.
Can see some marketing exec thinking this will make us forget about the downtime while "increasing synergy across the Sony brand to make me forget about my worthlessness as a human being". |

The difference in processing power between a Wii and a PS3/360 is a different thing. Also, the thing about the way MS forces 720p to increase available power isn't true. Halo 3, for example, renders at 640p and that image is simply upscaled and output at 720p - that process of upscaling is not demanding. That's the point I was trying to make - outputing at 720p doesn't put pressure on anyone because the hardware was built to output at it. What resolution will the WiiU screen be? |

Naughty Dog reveals some new details about The Last of Us for the PS3 with the promise of multiplayer being added and more details involving the story.
In terms of the story, the game starts out with the main character, Joel, and his daughter escaping a military safe zone. The military controls all the safe zones and executes anyone infected as their first priority. The infection, similar to Resident Evil, mainly occurs in urban or highly dense areas with any area not controlled by the military seen as a hazardous zone. Naughty Dog also hinted the story is set up to prevent sequels or cliffhanger endings but did not rule out the potential of the game becoming a series. The gameplay itself is a bit heavy on the escort style but while Joel is the main playable character for the game, it was teased in previous announcements the daughter can be playable in certain segments of the game. In terms of multiplayer, the studio confirms the game will have some sort of online multiplayer but as of right now they are just tossing and working on ideas. The main focus is on working the single player portion of the game with the multiplayer to be added in last. Quote:

A potential sequel for Psychonauts could become a reality after earlier today Notch and Mojong studio, developers of Minecraft, offered to help fund a potential sequel if Double Fine agreed.
While they don't have enough money to fund the whole game, they would be offering enough to help jump start the development while Double Fine searches for a larger publisher to help fund the rest. The biggest issue besides funding is Double Fine can't just start working on the game right away due to the company breaking down into smaller development teams a few years ago as part of the company's restructuring plans. The plans allowed for more smaller games to be made at once with the main focus on XBLA and Kinect type games. It would take some time to reorganize the whole company back into one large team to actually work on the potential sequel. http://kotaku.com/5882961/minecrafts...ts-2-a-reality http://kotaku.com/5883179/psychonaut...l-could-happen ____________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) The next Medal of Honor game will be revealed on March 6 during this year's GDC expo according to a statement sent by EA. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...vealed-at-gdc/ 2) Following in the footsteps of South Park getting an RPG game, Family Guy will also be getting an RPG game which will be browser-based and follow the free-to-play model. http://www.screwattack.com/news/fami...-rpg-announced 3) According to a few rumors and potential job openings, the third game in the Star Wars Battlefront series might be in development with Sparks Unlimited as the developer for the game. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...n-development/ |

Wonder if they are going to finish the version that free radical started. It was almost finished, so it seems like the practical route.
I hope so because the idea of a space battle and ground battle going on at the same time, and being able to traverse between both in real time is fucking orgasmic. |

Activision reveals more details about the upcoming Battleship game with the game having first person shooting levels and the game itself is a very loose interpretation on both the upcoming movie and the classic board game from Hasbro.
Universal Pictures and Double Helix are helping out developing the game with Double Helix doing most of the actual development. In terms of storyline, the upcoming movie is more futuristic and sci-fi based while the game itself will barely follow the movie's own story. The game will have a completely different character be controlled who apparently isn't on the same ship the movie follows. Quote:

Basically involved the future direction of the company since both sides want to go more "casual" to help out with development and costs. The company is favoring going heavy on mobile games while Jaffe wants more browser-based games and keeping the big budget games.
The company itself is shrinking a bit by around 20% once the whole thing is done (laid off and people leaving with Jaffe). I think the future of Twisted Metal also was a small reason considering Jaffe is done with the series while Sony or the company might look into more games or DLC content. |

Double Fine and Tim Scaffer held a public online fundraiser with the goal to generate around $400,000 within a month as part of their plan to fund a classic Point-and-Click adventure game as their next project.
While the genre itself is no where near as strong as it was during the late 1980s and early 90s, Schaffer wanted to relive part of his past development with a brand new adventure game in the classic point-and-click style. The goal was to set the development of the game to around 6-8 months and a release date of late 2012 for Steam. Knowing that they wouldn't be able to bring in a big publisher to help fund the game, they decided to hold a public fundraiser on Kickstarter. The initial goal was about $400,000 in 33 days. The end result ended up having the goal surpassed within a day as the initial amount was raised within hours and the first day shattering the all-time record on Kickstarter for both amount ($600,000+) and contributors (16,000+). As of the time the report was updated, over $1 million was raised so far. It is also assumed the large amounts in both funds and backers is related to the news days earlier of Notch and Mojong willing to help fund the development of Psychonauts 2. This could have convinced people to help support that game's development by over-donating so the leftover funds are used to help develop Psychonauts 2. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/double...ure-game/3973/ _________________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Microsoft announces Kinect Star Wars will be released on April 3rd and confirms the dancing mini-game will be included. http://www.screwattack.com/news/kine...l-release-date 2) Killzone 1 has been delayed indefinitely after missing its original release on the PSN Store as a "PS2 Classic" title with no official reason given. Rumors are stating both Sony and Guerrilla Games instead will be giving the game an HD treatment (either alone or as a set) to help justify a higher price tag than the usual $10 for PS2 games on PSN. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...-indefinitely/ 3) Square-Enix is holding a special sale on Xbox Live's marketplace which lasts from now until next week with the majority of the content being DLC for Deus Ex Human Revolutions and the Tomb Raider series. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...box-live-sale/ |

DOTA 2 could end up being delayed from its original release as Blizzard has sued Valve over the rights to the series with a court date set in the near future.
Blizzard is claiming Valve's use of the name and the MOBA style (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) is in violation to their exclusive association used in the Warcraft series. Quote:

Epic Games reveals a some of their plans concerning the Unreal 4 engine during this year's DICE convention with the main part being the engine will debut this year.
The first game to use the new engine will arrive later this year although the studio did not mention if it will be another tech demo (ala Samaritan last year) or an actual fully developed game. The earliest the current project could be shown would be at GDC (Game Developer's Conference) in March but most likely would be debuted at this year's E3 convention. Quote:

Based on a rumored leaked list, Ubisoft's 2012 game lineup might have been revealed with at least the guarantees of another Assassin's Creed and Just Dance arriving this year.
Also leaked was which games Ubisoft will be providing for the potential Fall 2012 launch of the Wii U with no ports of older games listed. A new Prince of Persia designed for the Wii and 3DS appears to be one of a couple of surprises in the rumored list. Quote:

A couple of Assassin's Creed related news tonight with the date for Assassin's Creed 3 revealed and another DLC pack set for AC: Revelations.
Ubisoft reveals Assassin's Creed III will have a release date of October 30, 2012 with plans to provide the biggest hype and marketing launch in series history. Very little details were revealed but a third assassin will debut with his or her story tying up the rest of the current storyline arch. Enzio and Altair will not be in the game but Desmond is expected to be involved a lot more as a playable character. Ubisoft also mentioned the next DLC pack for Assassin's Creed: Revelations will be a single-player only pack focusing a lot more on Desmond his first person puzzles. A special edition of the game called the "Ottoman Edition", rumored to be arriving later this year, was leaked by a few retailers before being pulled down. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/assass...tober-30/3985/ http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...tion-incoming/ ________________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) The Origin version of Battlefield 3 will be given away to those who pre-order Mass Effect 3 regardless of which platform the game is pre-ordered for. http://www.screwattack.com/news/deal...ct-3-pre-order 2) Project Draco for Kinect has been renamed to Crimson Dragoon and will also include online multiplayer modes which will be revealed at a later date. http://www.screwattack.com/news/proj...nline-features 3) THQ reveals the pre-order bonuses for Darksiders II with a different pre-order depending on where the pre-order is made. Double Fine revealed some new details about the classic point-and-click adventure game who's funds were generated on the Kickstarter website.
The game itself will not carry any DRM restrictions and is set for release on the PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and certain Android devices. The game's budget will also be increased to create a larger game than originally planned with voice acting and more languages supported for in-game text. Anyone who donated $15 or more to the project will receive a beta invite which will occur on Steam and revealed at a later date. Notch from Mojong also updated his status of potentially helping with the funding of a Psychonauts sequel by stating he will meet with Tim Schaffer during this year's GDC convention. He also wanted expectations to be adjusted for the potential sequel to prevent too an overboard in hype in case the project doesn't get done for his and Double Fine's sake. http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...psychonauts-2/ http://www.screwattack.com/news/doub...ll-be-drm-free _______________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Based on recent patent findings, Nintendo was planning to add in 3D capabilities to the Wii U tablet before recently deciding to drop the idea in favor of keeping the HD visuals for the tablet. http://kotaku.com/5885584/nintendo-f...i-u-controller 2) Journey was revealed to be the first title available for Sony's upcoming "Spring Fever" promotion on PSN with the game costing $14.99 and has a release date of March 13. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/thatga...xt-month/3990/ 3) According to Ubisoft's recent earnings call to investors, Just Dance has shipped 13 million copies so far, 6 games are being expected for the Wii U's launch, and the Assassin's Creed franchise generates around $200 million in yearly sales. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/tidbit...ngs-call/3988/ |

I bought Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box on a whim yesterday for £15. I bought it because I got my 360 for vanilla Burnout Paradise and thought I'd rebuy it as Ultimate so I got all the DLC because that's what I had heard the Ultimate Box was.
Got it home and turned it on and it only has bikes and some party mode, every other DLC isn't there, I still need to buy it. Why call it "Ultimate Box" and talk about it having everything when it doesn't actually have everything? I wanted to drive the DeLoreon . I probably could have just rebought the vanilla version for £10 cheaper if I knew all this. |

The best thing is that a lot of the content in Ultimate Box is free.
It could be worse, you could have bought the PC version... You can't even buy things in the store in that anymore. |

I've seen nothing that's free exclusively for the Ultimate Box. As far as I'm aware, all I got was the basic game, the Party mode, bikes and some other small tiny thing called "Cagney" which I'm guessing is a car or something.
I see they put a police car on the box art but Cops & Robbers isn't included. Neither are the Toy cars, even though there is what looks to be a colourful little truck in the background of the cover, in a slightly different style to the other cars. It looks a little "squished" like the toys. I bought the film cars for the DeLoreon but in no rush for the rest of the DLC. As far as I know, everything I got with the game is free anyway except for Party mode. There was an update called Burnout Paradise 1.9 that was about 1.2GBs but I thought everyone got that. It's small things like extra jumps. |

While Rocksteady crushed any rumors of them working on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, it appears Activision is working on a new game in the series.
The news was revealed during the currently showing Toy Fair expo in New York which showed Activision having plans to release a Turtles game in 2012. It appears Activision has acquired rights to the series after Ubisoft dropped their license and THQ disbanded their kids division which held rights to the cartoon series. Nickelodeon was also revealed to be collaborating with Activision on the game which means the game's source will be from the recent 2003 Turtles series and not the classic 80s or comic book series. http://www.giantbomb.com/news/activi...mnt-game/3992/ ______________________________________________________ Daily Recap: 1) Hulu Plus arrives as a new service channel on the Wii with a future launch expected for the 3DS.
