Update on the current state of the UK scene:
There is a new promotion called "Fight Forever" and their inaugural Champion is Flip Gordon. Super bleak. |

I just find them annoying when they are in every match I see. I don't like seeing everyone work the same in any style.

I get the 19 count spot though. That's started cropping up elsewhere too. For some reason, I associate Ambrose with the labored 9 count spot. Felt like he was doing that every match for a while. Quote:

I didn't really start watching wrestling until 1998. I dabbled in watching WWF on Saturday mornings but we didn't have cable until 1996. My cousin wrote for his high school newspaper and had to cover Wrestlemania 14 for it. So that's basically when I got hooked. So I'd say Undertaker vs Kane (due to the mystique and the backstory) and clearly Michaels and Austin.
But the one match that hooked me into watching every single week every single hour for the better half of 15 years was HHH and Rock SS 98 for the IC belt in a ladder match. I know that there are so many matches before this but still. |

There wasn't a singular match. It was the whole package that got me into wrestling in '91-92.

I can't really put my finger on a single match. I already watched wrestling a little bit at the time, but it wasn't a big deal to me or anything. But 2 things changed that for me: The formation of the nWo got me started down the path to fandom and then the feud between Raven (THE FLOCK!) and Kanyon.

Was always a fan on and off but fandom cemented by Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect at Summerslam 91. Really that whole PPV.

Undertaker/Mankind Boiler Room Brawl is the first match I remember ever watching, so I guess it would have to be that one....

The first wrestling related memory I have was from the first time I saw Royal Rumble 1994. I'm not sure if I watched it live (I would've only been two so I doubt this, I'm assuming I was around 4 when my dad rented the vhs.) But I vividly remembered all the heels dominating Taker, I was mesmerized by the green shit coming outta the urn, I assumed that's what people turned into after they died. I was amazed by the post match speech from inside the casket.
And if that wasn't enough Bret Hart was my favorite wrestler and he heroically co-won the Royal Rumble. I was hooked. Stopped watching around 2003-4 but once again became hooked one night in April 2007. Was on the phone with my best friend because she would always call me every night and talk about nothing. I was flipping through channels and saw Raw was on. At the time I'd always check it out but normally change the channel after 5 minutes. This time John Cena was wrestling Shawn Michaels in England. They ended wrestling for like an hour and I just remember my friend getting annoyed with me because I wasn't paying attention to anything she was saying because I knew I was watching a classic. That hooked me in until about 2014. The product just became too unbearable even though all my favorite indy wrestlers are there which is really ironic. I still go to WrestleMania and some of the shows that weekend but really that's just as an excuse to go on vacation and see my girl from Mexico who comes up to see me during that week. Hopefully the move to Fox will change things and make wrestling fun again. |

I can't even pin down a wrestling memory that got me into it. I was born into a family of wrestling fans. I just remember Hogan in general. I do have a pretty clear memory of Flair-Steamboat from WrestleWar '89 though.

Oddly enough, as a kid in the 80's, I was all about Hogan/WWF but all the matches I remember watching live are NWA/WCW.

Someone sat there and made video of him seizing. That's sad. I hate the world.
Hope he recovers and that it's nothing too serious. |

Sorry to disappoint all four of the guys here that read my 2002 ramblings every Sunday but there won't be anything from me tonight as I've been out of action today with a really bad cold.
My day has pretty much been spent sitting on my couch doing absolutely nothing apart from watching repeats of Friends, as there is never anything on TV on Sunday's during the day and that was the best thing that was on. So Vengeance 2002 will most likely be getting watched next weekend when I'm hopefully at 100%. |
