I thought Supermax sounded pretty cool actually.

I dunno, Supermax just seems like a cheesy B-Movie to me. Something you'd see John Cena star in or something.

Of what? An ancient Krypton? We're good and ready for that. The New Gods mythology? That's a whole new beast.
$10 says this idea won't get to preproduction. |

Come on, Marvel has a monopoly on the 'Supervillain as a cloud" gimmick.
Darkseid is gonna be a tree. |

Mongol as a villain for Superman would be pretty cool.
Just update the story where he uses the plant creature to hypnotize superman and make him think he's in a dream world would make a great movie. You would have to find a way to do it without Batman, Robin & Wonder Woman but I think that could make a great movie. |

Nixing Batman, Robin, and Diana from "For The Man Who Has Everything" would be a fairly easy task. Now what do you do about the riots anti-adaptation freaks will ensue?

Show them Superman Returns. They will either realize this story isn't so bad, or run in fear and forget why they were rioting.

Oh it wasn't that. We can do Doomsday without the JLA. In fact, Doomsday could be used as plot device to usher in the JLA to movies. I mean, what would make Superman suddenly think of bringing together a team of heroes? What would inspire Batman, GL, Wonder Woman to come together? His near death would do it.

Green Pastures Ahead:
With Wonder Woman rolling out, DC Animated next DVD feature is none other than an origin story for the Green Lantern! Bruce Timm says it's coincidence that the live-action film is picking up just as the next animated film is revealed. The DC Animated series has delivered Superman, Batman, JLA, and Wonder Woman features so far (though you can argue the Batman anime 'culture project' and the New Frontier adaptation doesn't count). I'm noticing a trend, it seems Bruce and his team are making movies that elaborate on elements that were scarcely presented during their DCAU run. We got a proper Doomsday battle, a full Wonder Woman origin, and now a GL story. It's a shame these universes aren't connected. |

By the way, the Wonder Woman movie is surprisingly pretty awesome. Not as great as New Frontier was, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

With the late Micheal Turner's past relationship with DC, this nice piece of news lands here. RIP Turner, I'll miss your petite babes.

Green Lantern's Tone?:
Producer Donald De Line: "It's going to be a series of big stakes and big action, but it absolutely has a sense of humor," he replied when asked about the humor quotient of the movie. "I think people accept real life, even with really serious situations, with humor as part of that situation, as we experience in life, you have to have that. That's how people cope, so they've done it so well in these other movies. I think that people are absolutely ready. It doesn't have to fall on one side of the fence vs. the other." The entire context of this convo isn't revealed so I'm only guessing that the last line is some sort of allusion to The Dark Knight's depressingly dark tone. Other than that it's good to see they're taking GL to the 'feel good' range, unlike those ridiculous chats WB has had over Superman's tone. |

Every once and a while news comes around that makes my day. I'm talking news so good you have to ask the source if they're bullshitting you just so you don't fall from your nerd-high. The last news that I wrote with a geek-trip smile on my face was Sam Jackson's return as Nick Fury in a bunch of Marvel films. This piece of news gets me just as giddy.
"Batman/Superman: Public Enemies" Gets Animated Film: DC's consistently strong slate of animated movies will deliver an adaptation of Batman/Superman's first arc, "Public Enemies", which is one of my favorite comics of all time (seriously). It's relatively recent as far as great comics go (regarding the warrented belief that all the best 'hero books' came out years ago), but it is a great read. I have read it front to back on several occasions and bought it up on this forum when I spoke about a possible Batman/Superman movie. Pick it up, it's good fun - that is if you can stand Leob's overuse of thought boxes and Ed's quasi anime partially deformed art style. And yet, both of those elements make the book great fun. Currently, the Batman/Superman series is shit, but the first arc is well worth an animated feature. I am stoked for it. And hooray for DC Animated for moving at a pace WB can only dream of. Perhaps Bruce Timm and his team should be running the live action side of things. Last edited by Kalyx triaD; 03-15-2009 at 09:03 PM. |

Green Lantern will commence filming in September in Australia. I will try to get in contact with an Aussie who'll get some exclusive bits of anything during that time.

Toh S'annataz:
Smallville's never short on guest superheroes and Zatanna makes her debut in the episode "Hex". In the above pic she's seems to be leaving Oliver Queen hanging, or perhaps she gets kinky like that. Never a fan of Zatanna myself but if she's that hot in live action let's make her a recurring character. Also, Paul Dini is fapping to this pic right now. |

Agreed with the poster above. DC's animated movies tend to outdo their live-action films. Its actually quite frustrating when you think about it. But then again, not really.
