Alright. I'm actually excited this thread is still going. Since my last run here I've gotten ridiculously into DC. I'm making my way through all of rebirth at the moment. Currently caught up with:
Flash Rebirth Batman Rebirth Superman Rebirth Action Comics Rebirth Super Sons Working on: Nightwing (Issue 25 atm) Red Hood/Outlaws (Issue 20) I've gotta say, rebirth has been fucking awesome for the most part. Tom King Batman is a little baffling sometimes because it essentially feels like a romance novel but I cant help but like it more than dislike it. There's valid reasons to dislike it but Tom King is a fantastic writer, IMO. Even when I dont like the stories that are being told, they're always told well. Initially wasn't digging Seeley Nightwing but I think I'm back in after "Nightwing Must Die." Williamson Flash is tits as fuck. Not sure if I'm in with all of the different "forces" that were introduced because it feels like a rehash of the Lantern colors in a way but everything else has been on point. Superman Rebirth was almost life changing. I've never been able to dive into Supes until now but it's been the most enjoyable series I've read so far. I'm going to read all of rebirth, just going to take me a moment. Might not read Batwoman though because I don't want to repeatedly slam my head against my desk. |

Detective Comics Rebirth was incredibly good.
Yeah, I loved Superman Rebirth..... just wait until you get up to where Bendis comes in and ruins everything |

I also really enjoyed Green Lanterns, the book starring Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz.... a shame that they canceled it to have Grant Morrison (generally overrated) write the only Green Lantern book.....

Order will be something like: Green Lanterns Titans Suicide Squad Detective Comics Hal/Green Lantern New Superman Teen Titans Batgirl Deathstroke Supergirl JLA The Terrifics Probably missing some. Gonna hit it all though. Maybe not Cyborg or Blue Beetle because I haven't heard good things and zi don't think I'm be missing out on anything imperative. |

Did you do Aquaman? Aquaman was consistently good through the New 52 and into Rebirth...
Or are you one of THOSE people who hate on Aquaman |

Naw, Im down with Aquaman. Just forgot to put it on there. I heard Aquaman Rebirth was good. Forgot Green Arrow too. Ill eventually get through it all. Try to read at least 5 comics a night if I can. I have babies coming soon though so I might be doing this at a snails pace soon.
Dc Universe App isn't current with all the issues either so I'll eventually have to completely catch up with everything. I'm looking at it like a project. |

I agree on Flash Rebirth -- I'm not sold on the forces but I've loved the run overall. I really, really liked the Flash: Year One arc.
Co-signed on Tom King. His Bat/Cat stuff is great and, I don't know if you've heard of this, he did a one-shot Batman/Elmer Fudd crossover. Yes, that Elmer Fudd. Yes, I know that sounds ridiculous. Yes, it is also amazing. Ohhhh Lock Jaw and I are so on the same Bendis page w/ Supes. Everything Bendis has done to Supes just upsets me as a comic fan so much. I think I'd consider it the worst run on a character in DC history possibly. Elmer Fudd/Bats by Tom King tho -- amazing. |

Scott Snyder also partially to blame for stealing Lex Luthor.... feel like the years long arc of Lex Luthor playing hero had a very "unsatisfying conclusion" of pretty much "yeah, forget this"..... feel like after all that, I wish the payoff was more....
Not that I have read any of the Year of the Villain stuff.... mad behind.... last Justice League I read was that crossover with Aquaman.... |

Where do we all stand on Heroes in Crisis? Lots of fan boys motherfuck Tom King to death for HIC. I actually liked it but it definitely had a fatal flaw. The big gaping problem to me was that there's no justification for Wally reacting that way to the situation. I can buy that it happened and how it happened, I cannot make sense of what he did afterwards (being vague for spoiler sake. Don't know if anybody cares or not.) It just feels like it flies in the face of everything WW stands for. Story pretty beautifully written though.

I liked the idea behind Sanctuary, but yeah... Wally reacting how he did seemed pretty far fetched....
Have not read his "Flash Forward" series to see if they already somehow Parallaxe'd him or something |

I wish HIC had a stronger ending tying up Sanctuary -- but I did really like it quite a bit. Loved the art. Loved the little character bits we would get in each issue.
Wonderfully written and fantastic concept. |

Yeah, Im back in on Seeley Nightwing. The bastard roped me back. Nightwing Must Die was better than expected. He's pulling in alot of stuff from Grant Morrisson era Batman and I'm a bit if a sucker for it. Also, Seeley is really good at capturing the Grayson/Damian relationship, which I'm a solid fan of.

For real had no idea slik was a comic book guy until he started commenting on my comic posts on Facebook. Pleasant surprises all around. Lock Jaw and Kalyx are the usual suspects.

Last thing I did read was actually Marvel, was catching up on Star Wars comics..... |

I read digital so it's easier to do alot at once. I guess that's controversial to some people. I tend to buy the trades that I like though

I read mostly digital..... Last stuff I was buying was the Superman Rebirth stuff..... bought a bit of the Bendis stuff, but stopped due to the aforementioned frustrations....
Also bought Metal/Doomsday Clock/Heroes in Crisis..... As far as trades go, I bought Green Lanterns and New Super-Man. Would have bought more Rebirth stuff, but I think I am largely "done" with physical copies.... dunno... Only thing I see myself buying is future hardcover editions of "Saga".... |

I'm excited for Keaton but he better be in a damn batsuit.
Always thought they should've done an animated film for the scraped 3rd Burton film much like they did animating new 60s adventures. Honestly, if the Snyder JL cut is a hit in terms of viewers, maybe throw money at him and the cast to get them to finish part 2 if it ends on a cliff hanger in animated form |

Yeah I dunno if casting Keaton as Batman is a great idea creatively right now...
I understand the financial rewards of this sort of thing but it reeks of pandering and I think a few of us are getting sick of mechanical nostalgia. Stranger Things was so bad... |

I’ve honestly been a lot more into image comics than either Marvel or DC. Much nicer reading one book for one story, without having to worry about about how 70 other titles and an annual crossover are going to affect it. |

James Tynion's first arc on Batman as headwriter ended today with quite the twist, setting up his big "Joker War" arc he's been hyping.
I gotta give DC credit on this, for keeping this twist from being revealed earlier. Joker's going to have some fun w/ Gotham and the Bat fam... SPOILER: show |

I mean, those movies were 20+ years after Batman Returns and neither were Batman type characters. At least the vulture wasn't. I haven't watched Birdman. This is pretty cool. I was 3 when Batman 89 came out and that's the movie that hooked me. So for me, this is fucking awesome. Keaton is the Batman of my childhood.

Caught up on Nightwing Rebirth. I wanted to like it all the way through but it got real fuxkin weird after
SPOILER: show I wasn't a fan of the Defacer stuff in the beginning, then they sold me on it, then they abandoned it. So what the hell. Raptor was pretty dope though. I'm firmly in the camp of "Nightwing needs his own villain instead of Batman retreads" except in the case of the court of owls. I'm alright with them exclusively being NW territory now, it makes sense. Highlights of the run was definitely the "Rise of Raptor" and "Better than Batman" stuff. Oh and the arc with the Judge was fucking incredible. Lowlight to me was the Wyrm arc and the Ric Grayson shit (which I almost couldn't bring myself to finish). Was slow to finish this because it got really slow and I wasn't excited to read it after awhile. I do two rebirth series at a time so now I'll be on: Red Hood Outlaw/s Rebirth (still) Aquaman Rebirth |

Keep in mind I'm not fully caught up, just caught up on what they have on the DC Universe app. I think this series stopped at 62. Ill keep up as issues are put on there each month.

Dick Grayson sure been through the ringer past number of years..... "killed" and becomes a super-spy (I actually really enjoyed the Grayson series)... then brought "back to life" and becomes Nightwing again.... only to be shot in the head and forget who he is and become Ric Grayson

This thing with Punchline is dumb but I have a strange kind of foresight telling me that the general direction between Harley and the three Jokers thing will lead to Harley becoming the new Joker in a twisted spin on the mantle passing thing. Won't be now, or even next year, but it's coming.
