Hmmm, gotta agree with destor on this one.
Despite how unorthodox and unique it is, i'd still say it is definitely an rpg. All the core elements of a turn based jrpg are there. It is so unlike any other rpg though, that I can understand the hestitance to categorize it with everything else. Was explaining the combat to a friend and used Tsundereplane as an example and he lost it. |

it has a ton of overlap with mother/earthbound...combat being the major departure...course it started as an earthbound rom hack so its to be expected

Just started with The Outer Worlds. Haven't put much time into it, so maybe this is my relative naïveté talking, but so far at least, I don't get the comparison to FNV.

Its not just new vegas in space if thats what you were expecting, but theres definitly some of their signature in the combat and overall engine.
The humor is straight out of classic fallout though. |

Y's IX down. If any of you play it, mainly RP because I know he also enjoys Y's, play it on one of the harder difficulty levels. They have scary names but trust me, normal/hard are wayyyyyy too easy. No one died in my party for the entire game and while I am good at these games, I in no way think I am just magically good enough at this game to explain never even fearing a KO. I only went below half health one time and that was due to not dodging an instant death move in time (tbf I didnt know it was an instant death move) and only survived because I was set up to take one fatal blow and survive per battle.
Otherwise the game as a pretty interesting story. Not cliche like most RPGs at this point. Gameplay is fun and it controls good and the exploration mechanics work nicely. You are gated from going to areas by story progress though so you can't just freely wander wherever you want from the start, though every chapter the area gets bigger and bigger. Soundtrack is standard fare for the jrpg genre. Nothing great but also not bad at all. Just way too easy lol. In the end it's more Y's and I like Y's. The unique story helped this one a lot. Looking forward to the next one. |

Guess I’ll find out how I feel about it at that point, but I don't think it’s fair for me to say just yet as I probably have less than an hour invested so far.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.
Just got to the dual-class part of the game. Combat feels REALLY fun and the dual class is even more craziness. |

Wait till you hit that wall with the glyphs (or wtf ever they call them) needed to do runs that actually will power your character up a bit.
You can 100p grind for them, but using the low-hanging f2p model that it is, it'll take ages. I'll just go play Diablo III |

We somehow got caught up in doing rounds of Trivial Pursuit Live. Need to get the sequel if this is going to continue. It'll tide us over until Jackbox Games decides to put out another You Don't Know Jack game.

Say what you will about Call of Duty as a series, but they've easily got the best free to play game on the mobile market. No pay wall, no time gating, no pay to win, and tons of content updated on a frequent basis. Was hoping Diablo would take a similar approach since its the same publisher, but I guess not.

Bioshock Infinite is probably my third favorite FPS ever made, behind Half Life 1 & 2, and Bioshock 1 is probably only behind those three and the two Portal games for me in the FPS genre. Assuming you don't count Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 as FPS. Though maybe Portal should be thought of as more a puzzle game than an FPS, in which case my top 5 fps would probably go:
1. Half Life 2. Half Life 2 3. Bioshock Infinite 4. Bioshock 5. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare |

That PlayStation new tier subscription is live. I must say, looks very inviting.
The second tier looks like a no brainer. Has Miles Morales, RDR2, Ghost of Tsushima, Guardians of the Galaxy etc included. Haven't seen the whole catalog but what a way to start.… |

Also Starfield looks pretty ambitious. Definitely the second best thing by far shown off in these summer reveals. With the #1 thing of course being Persona 5 Royal to PC, will be Day 1 buy so I can play it in Japanese.

Interview with Todd Howard revealed a few mor details.
Despite all the procedural generation, Starfield will have more hand crafted content than any previous bethesda studios game. Basically confirmed that it will be just as modabble as previous games Four major cities with one of them being the biggest theyve ever built. Going back to silent protagonist, as opposed to fallout 4. |
