Makes me think it’s WWE. Surely AEW would want the Exalted One to be revealed on TV.

I feel like it's an open field for Hardy. Imagine the offer ROH has for him, what, 40 dates for 500k or more?

Yeah, if Sinclair are paying for keeps, even though I feel like Matt Hardy is past it, I can see them making a juicy offer. He can work with Bully Ray and mentor some a tag team in storylines or whatever. He's not worthless, he's just not as brilliant as he thinks he is and it's hard to get excited for anything he does.
This would be another case of AEW frankly just not being able to get the talent they really want to get in order to paint themselves as that "Ellis Island of Professional Wrestling." |

If that’s how they reveal that Raven is the leader that’s really lame. There’s gotta be more to it.

According to the Observer Newsletter, seems demand at the moment for WWE non-Mania events are at its lowest in years.
Besides hurting WWE, all the indie promotions running events that weekend also are likely looking at lower numbers this year if the traveling crowd is at its weakest in years. Quote:

AEW coming along hasn't reinvigorated anything, it's dried it up.

Not really since that's more of an indictment of how low the general interest is for WWE this year and less about other notable promotions like AEW or even ROH and their collapse last year.
WWE's response to AEW's early success was pretty much doing nothing in response to fix the serious issues and perception with their main shows and becoming too involved with NXT to its own detriment. |

Nah, it’s also an indictment on how bland AEW has been. WWE also put on a great Royal Rumble and have pretty good focus going into WrestleMania. There’s just too much content in general. NXT has been kept relatively cold. WWE haven’t put much into it at all (unless you consider winning something like the Survivor Series a lot).
Those are some of those Meltzer myths designed to make WWE look rotten and anyone not WWE look heroic. Bland wrestling is everywhere. |

Your hatred of AEW and Meltzer has really clouded your view or perception in recent months.
Plus WWE has been a lot more active with NXT than they were prior to the USA Network deal. NXT being "cold" is due to Triple H completely misjudging both AEW and his own view of NXT. |

I don't hate Meltzer, I'm just weary of his bias and how he's been wrong about lots of AEW/NXT related stuff. AEW lost me -- that's their fault. I'm not obligated to enjoy anything else put out by any other company just because they're not WWE.
WWE are a little more active with NXT, but that would have been expected even if there was not competition for it, but it is nowhere near what that narrative of things makes out. For months Meltzer and Alvarez were blasting WWE for not advertising NXT on Raw or SmackDown, and scratching their heads as to why. Which way do they want it? Did WWE do a shitty job promoting NXT, or are they throwing so much into it because they're obsessed with AEW. They're opposing dichotomies and Meltzer and Alvarez just switch depending on how they want to position them that day. I'm nowhere near a Triple H fan, but it was pretty obvious what NXT was doing from the start. And it's pretty obvious that they are not running full sprint with this thing so they don't burn people out on it. It's cool to say that Triple H doesn't know what he's doing and he doesn't understand AEW or NXT, but I just don't think that's the reality of what's happening. They knew full well what they were doing when their biggest attraction for a few weeks was a tag team tournament. And no, I don't think Triple H expected Charlotte Flair to boost the ratings by hundreds of thousands of people. |

Becky Lynch, AJ Styles & The Revival? Sure. Then they stopped doing it and have let it settle back down before they do it again.

Noid currently jacking off intensely, reciting that incredibly weak retort under his breath while thinking about that one time Jim Cornette got his dick out in public to show everyone how much he hates Vince Russo.

So, not only are they going to have to do it again because they can't beat AEW without doing it, but they also know this and aren't doing anything to improve and change that? And that's their actual fucking plan and strategy? Yeah, such a great fucking analysis, plan, and strategy by HHH there.

It’s pretty obvious they want to grow NXT largely away from WWE and without going too hard or hot-shotting. It seems to me that they are weary about stirring up the fan-base about being “unfair” and creating more of an underdog culture around AEW. It’s pretty obviously slow and steady with them, which is why it is absolute bullshit when Meltzer says stuff like “Vince wanted them dead.” Yeah, the Dusty Tag Classic was really going to achieve that.
The ratings for AEW and NXT are both so low and so comparable that it’s really a stalemate. The way you say “they can’t beat AEW” has this taint of AEW being some sort of juggernaut or something. It’s a distant, distant 3rd/joint 4th in the race, isn’t growing an audience and is a mess when it comes to coherent stories. They’re thriving off the hardcore fan-base that are going to have their dicks in their hands whenever WWE stock goes down and are going to support AEW no matter how much they suck because they’re not WWE and still have new car smell. Double or Nothing II hasn’t sold out (yet). The buildings aren’t selling. The PPV retention rate between Double or Nothing and All Out was something like 30%. They’ve lost about 500k potential viewers. Any criticism you have for WWE can apply to them. A lot of the time they even act like a more bush league version of WWE. It’s not completely cold with the passionate fan-base yet, but it is cooling. When that final straw of goodwill finally snaps, it will be just another TNA. It’s sad, because someone really could come along and challenge Vince right now, but it’s not going to be a promotion that treats Glacier like a legend. |

People are allowed to be biased, by the way. If people want to gush over AEW using the exact same tired tropes as WWE, that’s their prerogative. But I’m kind of over the vibe in the air that you have to like them or that they are objectively good. I’m so fucking tired of pro-wrestling underwhelming that more underwhelming wrestling isn’t going to get my patience. Sorry.
