Idea: The Ryback should gain a massive amount of weight and come back, but now he chants FEED. ME. LESS.

Just checked it was. Aaliyah picked up the win vs. the #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. They’re really going the extra mile to say fuck you to NXT.

I remember Aaliyah being heavily featured in that Breaking Ground series on WWE Network. She was awful then. And seems to have gotten worse somehow?

WWE and NXT are using a booking tactic of terrible wrestlers and writing to highlight the few great wrestlers and solid bookings that they do have.

Eva Marie is better in the ring than Aliyah. Let that sink in.

It's also more proof that Vince gives zero fucks about anything happening on NXT, as Dakota Kai is the #1 contender for the women's title, building to a Takeover match against an unstoppable champion she turned on. And she loses to Aliyah.
Lmao. |

It would be so worth it to learn Japanese just to watch old NJPW and AJPW events and be able to follow the commentary and promos.

Just got back from the local Indy Fed. No Dawsons, which sucked. Timmy Lou Retton broke his leg during a ladder match, which sucked more. I am still haunted by the screaming. Like, it was blood curdling. For a fucking crowd of maybe 400. Stupid, and I'm not going to let up on this fact. The matches will be discussed in no particular order.
James Storm was great. Had a bit where he told a fan he was nobody. His opponent, Chip Day, Nailed him, called the same fan a somebody. Then they exchanged gut shots, calling the fan a nobody and a somebody after each blow. Did a big "Rah Rah Indy Shows and Rah Rah Murrica" promo after his match. Said Ladder Match was a 5 person Ladder Match. Wade Adams (his gimmick is he's Canadian, but he talks a lot, and he has a defined Southern Accent) did do a bit where he slammed the ladder down across three people's back, which was something I hadn't seen. He's kind of a comedy character. Owen Knight is very good, I would check him out. Retton is alright, but his leg is fucked now. Rob Killjoy is 1/2 of the Ugly Ducklings, but his partner is dealing with cancer (get well soon, Lance Lude). Vary Morales did some exciting stuff, and he also whiffed blatantly on a kick. He looks like an unmasked Juventud Guerrera with those contacts Rey was wearing at one point. I can't think of a single Ladder match I have seen at an Indy Show that doesn't look shitty. Because either the ref has to balance the ladder at some point (making the whole thing look fake), or they aren't the double sided ladders. Both happened in this match. Again, a man broke his leg for maybe 400 people. He started screaming and rolled to floor, and hit like a sack of shit. I knew it wasn't a sell from the second the screaming started. He landed in front of my section (I was second row. I didn't get up to look at it. I am not that curious.) A kid said his leg looked "Like jello." Wade Adams won the VPW Outbreak Title, but he didn't get to have much of a moment, because again, a man broke his leg for maybe 400 people. Replacing the Dawsons was the Revolt: Caleb Konley (with a K, and pink hair) and Zane Riley. He declared that they weighed 515 lbs. I am disappointed that no one asked if he weighed 15 lbs, because Zane is a large man (a couple years ago, he was doing a 305 Live gimmick, and the crowd was jacking up his weight to get a reaction out of him.). They were up against the All Star Special. William Huckaby and Hold My Beer Hanson. They have a Waffle House gimmick, because Why Not? I probably would have preferred the Dawsons, as it would have been a fun Hoss Fight. Hanson busted his lip or nose at some point. Any event, All Star Special won the VPW Tag Team Titles. Zuka King vs. Lodi was interesting. Yeah, Lodi was wrestling. He was wearing his West Hollywood Blondes tights and doing his typical knockoff Raven routine. He wasn't awful, but it was what it was. Dude was jacked. Zuka King... wasn't. Dude looks like a Potato, and wants to be a heel, but isn't quite there. The real MVP of this match was Perry James, his manager. Dude was an excellent heel, and did I wanted to see him get decked. King won after nailing Lodi with a foreign object tossed to him by James. Joe Black vs Jon Davis was kind of a thing. Crowd wasn't into much of it. Joe Black was billed at 210, could have had 20 lbs added to his weight Kayfabe and no one would have noticed. Dude was jacked. Jon Davis' nickname is "That Dude." Generic as shit. Decent match, but didn't really stand out. Black went for a chair, referee got it away from him. Retton bitched him out (this match took place before he broke his leg in front of maybe 400 people). Davis beat him. Montana Black vs. Joshua Cutshall was a bit of character work. Cutshall has multiple personalities: The "Monster" Cutshall, Vegas, the Cyclone (a Hurricane inspired character), and Cooter (sp?). He works the old school trunks over tights (a look that should come back, truth be told). Gimmick was, when he got hit in the head, he would change personalities. Black is a beast of a human being. He should get looks from bigger companies. Cutshall went from Vegas pretending to be the Monster, to Cooter (Sp?), to the Cyclone, and then back to Vegas. Black put one and one together, that there was no "Monster," and started wrecking him. Cutshall looked decent, but Black was the star. He ended up outsmarting Cutshall and beating him. Then another monster announced he wanted to face Cutshall, and he was trying to bring his personality back. Before I mention the main event, I wanted to talk about the fact that this was the 5th anniversary show for VPW. In between matches, we got some comments on various folks in wrestling, including JD Drake, Christopher Daniels, QT Marshall, Suicide, Ricky Morton, and WWE referee D.A. Brewer, who is best known in the area as Da Fireman. He was also in attendance at the show. He was one of the many folks checking on Retton when he Broke his leg in front of maybe 400 people. Main Event was Sean Legacy vs Darius Lockhart for the VPW Heavyweight Title. Story goes like this. Lockhart was the champion, and he has screwed Legacy a couple of times over the past two years for the title. This was the blowoff match, 2 out of 3 falls. Both men look like stars. Legacy chopped the post and hurt his arm early. Legacy won the first fall with the Bret vs Bulldog finish from SS 93. Lockhart worked the arm for much of the second fall, but Legacy kept fighting. Legacy attempted his springboard stunner, and Lockhart countered with a backslide to win the second fall. The third fall was just two men fighting with everything they had. Legacy got cut open from a belt shot, but it didn't put him away. He ended up winning with the Springboard Stunner. He celebrated with his close friends Wade Adams and one of the promoter's sons. Talked about fulfilling his dream. He then hugged his mom to end the night. Overall, a great night of wrestling and storytelling only marred by a man breaking his leg in front of maybe 400 people. |

Whoa I didn't realize Timmy Lou Retton was T.I.M. thats been on AEW dark or w/e. That absolutely sucks about him breaking his leg when it seems he might have been about to make it to the big leagues.

Gavin also reporting that WWE is planning to pull top talent from NXT to work dark matches for Raw and Smackdown going forward. Also NXT creative is working on new obstacle courses for the talent and using more experienced NXT talents as VETS and the younger talents we haven't seen as ROOKIES, going forward.
