Elizabeth Olsen has a IDGAF moment in an interview and muses about a storyline she'd love to do, studio exclusivity be damned:

There has been a lot of talk over the past few months about potential directors for Marvel's highly-anticipated Black Panther, with Ava DuVernay (Selma) and F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton) mentioned as possible candidates. While we don't seem to be any closer to finding a filmmaker to take the helm, The Wrap reports that Joe Robert Cole (American Crime Story) is nearing a deal to write the screenplay. The site also reports that Marvel doesn't intend to search for a director until after the screenplay has been completed. We reported in August that F. Gary Gray was interested in directing Black Panther, shortly after Ava DuVernay backed out. It seems he won't be in contention either, though, since the filmmaker is now in talks to direct Fast & Furious 8, after being listed as one of the top four director candidates just yesterday. Since Fast & Furious 8 will take F. Gary Gray out of contention, the Black Panther director's race is now said to be "wide open." Chadwick Boseman is set to star in Black Panther, but he will first make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which kicks off the studio's Phase Three slate when it hit theaters May 6, 2016. Black Panther currently has a July 6, 2018 release date, so the studio still has plenty of time to find the right filmmaker for this superhero adventure. It remains to be seen what other characters may be included in this stand alone adventure, but there have been clues laid out from previous MCU movies. Very little is known about the Black Panther story, but the character's homeland of Wakanda has been teased before in the MCU. Captain America's practically-indestructible shield is made out of vibranium, a rare metal only found in Wakanda, and this summer's Avengers: Age of Ultron featured the debut of Ulysses Klaue, a character from the Marvel Comics who has been a longtime adversary of T'challa and his father, T'chaka. There have been rumors that T'chaka, the current ruler of Wakanda, will either die or pass along his throne to Chadwick Boseman's T'challa in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but that hasn't been confirmed. Joe Robert Cole is a product of Marvel's writer's program, which is also where Nicole Perlman developed her script for Guardians of the Galaxy. Joe Robert Cole was rumored to have worked on a draft of the studio's Inhumans' script, but he is no longer involved with that project, and if a draft was completed, it isn't expected to be used by the studio. He also wrote and directed the indie thriller Amber Lake, and is currently writing for FX's American Crime Story. Black Panther comes to theaters July 6th, 2018. |

Found it annoying that they meant CA: Civil War but kept referring to Winter Soldier. Amateur hour.

Ugh, Marvel.
Some comics this week are still a part of the Secret Worlds and take place on Battleworld, while some are part of the all-new all-different stuff. They are just as confusing as Secret Wars and you have no idea how the characters got to where they are in them. Why do I even bother reading this weekly? |

Sounds awesome!
I'm very behind with my comics, actually. I love all the movies, TV shows etc, but only loosely follow the comics today (and I'm quite behind too). Been reading comics since 1993, problem is, it's just reached that point where it's repeating itself. Main characters keep dying and coming back, it gets to the point where nothing shocks me or interests me anymore. How many times can Professor X come back from the dead until you stop caring? Everyone has betrayed everyone at this point. Everyone's been heel or face. Nothing seems relevant any more. I'd pique my interest if a main character died and fucking stayed dead! |

Heh, dunno where that little rant came from. Marvel's movies are doing so incredibly well right now, it just seems weird that all their comics lately seem to be getting so much criticism. Last story I was really into was Civil War. Man, that was awesome.
Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Brand New Day etc and the others around that time were all good, but just seems like the last few years have been nothing but let-downs and confusion. |

Fear Itself is about where I'm at now, actually. Again, just heard nothing but criticism for it, though. I do enjoy reading the comics, but it's so repetitive. I want someone important to die and stay dead. "Death of Wolverine" I read not long ago from the library. Is that canon? I mean, no doubt it's set "in the future" or whatever, coz Wolverine is too important to kill off for real.

But once Secret Wars ends there'll be an alternate universe Wolverine in the mainstream universe of course. It's gonna be Old Man Logan. I mean, he pretty much already transferred there. There's also a black British Punisher already (cause Frank Castle died not long ago). |

I have fallen out big time with modern comic books.... with Marvel, I am way behind... probably also around Fear Itself time, but not read that. Just feel like... I dunno... reading stuff from a few years ago and having it all be already reversed/changed/retconned.... like what is the point.... and jumping to the current stuff seems like it would be just TOO MUCH change... like "Wait, what universe/timeline is he/she from?" and "Why is this character a different gender/race now?"
And as far as DC goes... The New 52 pretty much killed it for me.... which is such a freaking shame because I was always more of a hardcore DC guy anyways. If not for the New 52, I'd probably still keep up with it. I mean, I know there is stuff that I could still check out, like Batman stuff... but I just don't "feel it anymore"..... |

I still want to catch up with green lantern since they kept the continuity, but I have no interest in anything else in DC. New 52 killed it for me too.
Still using marvel unlimited though. |

Yeah, Green Lantern is another one I could have kept up with (and one of the only ones I did keep up with for awhile after the New 52), but again I just "don't feel it anymore".....

This would actually be perfect. The only issue is that Marvel is now under the Disney umbrella so I don't think there's much chance of them allowing one of their shows on a Cartoon Network owned animation block. I also don't think Disney would be cool with being associated with something on that level either. It's a shame too cause under the right writing staff and animators it could be something great like Rick and Morty, etc.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!11!1!!!!!one!!!!!
http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/new...arvel#/slide/1 In what may turn out to be the most predictable news of 2015, Den of Geek is reporting that the critical and box-office clobbering Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four movie took has spelled doom for the franchise at 20th Century Fox, and now the thing that has caused such a firestorm of controversy for them is finally going back where it belongs: Marvel Studios. According to the site’s info, which has yet to be corroborated by official sources, rather than trying to integrate the much-loathed FF roster into their more successful X-Men universe, Fox is doubling down on the mutant biz by trading the Fantastic Four rights to the tarnished property (which also reportedly includes rights to key FF side characters like Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom and Galactus) to their Disney-owned rival in exchange for television rights to X-Men. This coincides with the recent announcements of pilots ordered for “Hellfire” and “Legion” at FOX, as well as the three mystery films Marvel just slated for release in 2020, one of which might very well be a Fantastic Four reboot. While Marvel’s first family coming back into the fold sounds like a great idea, Marvel Studios mastermind Kevin Feige and company have an uphill battle in terms of public perception of the property. If one counts the legendarily terrible unreleased Roger Corman production from 1994, this would mark the FOURTH big screen iteration of the characters, who also appeared in two critically-derided but financially-successful Fox movies in the mid-2000s directed by Tim Story. The 2015 film suffered from a decidedly dour tone, budget restrictions, creative meddling and studio-imposed (and highly-noticeable) reshoots that brought forth a film even its director publicly distanced himself from. It wound up only grossing $166 million worldwide, making it one of the biggest superhero bombs of all-time. Like Spider-Man, who Marvel recently partnered with Sony to reintegrate into their cinematic universe, Feige already has contingency plans set up in case the Fantastic Four team is brought back to the MCU. Side characters like Galactus, Doctor Doom, The Silver Surfer and The Watcher played critical roles in the original “Infinity Gauntlet” comics stories of the ’90s and could very well be brought onto the board just in time for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films that the Russo Brothers will direct. As for now, with no official word from either Marvel or Fox, this may simply be overenthusiastic fan speculation, but food for thought for all the true believers out there. |

Supposedly they're trading the rights to FF for rights to film TV shows in the X-Men universe (parkmania's post might be mentioning that, I just don't feel like reading).

Pretty cool if this is all legit. I'm happy to see the Fantastic Four in the MCU (although, we don't really need another origin movie), but Galactus or the Skrulls would make a great end-villain for Phase 4. After Thanos, I was wondering who would be a big enough threat that would validate a whole phase of moves.
