What’s the finish for Clash at the Castle? I cannot see them simply having Drew lose in the UK. But it doesn’t seem right to take the belts off Roman. I’ve seen it suggested that Theory enters the match, cashes in, makes it a Triple Threat and Drew pins Theory to win the belts, which maybe becomes him winning one belt.
I dunno. I’m still thinking they might just have Drew win cleanly, have him reign for a couple of months and then go back to Reigns around Rumble time for whatever their plans are. |

CM FRAUD
The thing he has used to prop his career up, the "pipebomb", was fully approved by Vince McMahon and ghost written by Ed Koskey.
https://wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/ex...ahons-reaction Turns out Phil didn't "FEDBAD" from the heart for all the Marks, he did it to get a raise and promotion. How ya feeling about your little MMA Failure dork bud now, hmmmmm? |

Of course it was approved. Interesting to learn that Punk didn’t write it. Was definitely a fun promo at the time, but it was just a promo. I used to try and will Punk across the mattering line, but as talented as he is, the special around him is constructed by internet fans who rally against whatever is established at the time.

Don't worry guys, I am sure there will be a staunch CM Phil defender who will watch the full video and decipher the inflection and tone to try to spin it in a way to make Phil look good. Just wait for that play by play recap

Because I am the only truly impartial contributor here (and #2 Christian fan) I did the work. Talk on Punk starts at 39:57.
A) of course it was approved. The guy sat there for 5 minutes before the mic was cut B) he says that Punk “worked with Ed Koskey” on it but that it came from Punk’s heart and brain. Not at all the same as having it ghost-written. C) there was “real life feeling and realness” in the promo D) Gerwitz says he’s sure there was stuff in there that was improvised on the spot |

"We knew going in what it was going to be" A.K.A. NOT a shoot, A.K.A. lying to everybody for 11 years, A.K.A. CM Fraud. AEW is STILL to this day living off a kayfabe WWE storyline. FEDBAD, held Punk back, no creative freedom, yet Punk has the same music, gear, logo, and storyline WWE "made" him do when they were stifling him 11 years ago??? Also just an FYI, a ghostwriter is hired to write literary or journalistic works, speeches, or other texts that are officially credited to another person as the author. Koskey sat with Punk ahead of time, prepared an outline of the script, disseminated copies, got it approved, and likely timed it out with Vince and Dunn for when to do camera cuts for Cena or the fans reactions. Taking Punk's statements and views and constructing them into the pipebomb, that is Ghostwritting. |

Yeah nothing at all, other than it was not a shoot, so pretending it is 11 years later because it is the only character Punk can present, because otherwise he is just an old looking 170 pound guy who got his ass beat twice in UFC and has zero credibility, but yeah, nothing at all, but that

I genuinely enjoyed Punk back then and still look fondly back on it... but yeah, there was that element of being presented as "the alternative" that the internet fans latched onto and boosted him up. Kind of "apropos" that he ended up in AEW which is an entire company much of whose success is propagated by the same internet fans buying into "the alternative" and boosting it up.

CM Punk is one of the few left in this business that pay close attention to details and actually trys to ensure that everything he does makes sense.
His credibility obviously took a hit with the MMA stuff, but theres too few people like him for me to just write him off for that. |

What part of him attempting and botching moves he could not do 10 years ago makes sense? What makes sense about a fragile old man with zero athletic ability trying a 3 foot stage dive and "shattering" his foot? The only sensible thing Phil has done is facing a guy who is so bad at throwing strikes that it gives him a better chance of not getting injured again. |

He wrestles like a 170 pound broken down old man, but because he is doing it in the Dub, we are supposed to pretend it is good, why? How he puts together matches lol, he puts matches together that have him, a broken down bum who is the worst UFC fighter of all time, puts together matches that he actually fucking wins, and that makes sense?!?!? That in fact is the most nonsensical thing in all professional wrestling. So no, that means he makes no sense. He can beat up nobody in reality, yet he can single handedly beat up 5 JAS guys at once??? For fuck's sake |

Punk’s not as athletic in the ring as he tries to be, hence the botches, but he is a good wrestler. He just doesn’t make you care as much as he thinks he does. And MMA didn’t help any aura he tries to project.

Feel like if Ttiple H was in charge back then he would have definitely forked over the money and we would have had Punk back in WWE.

Triple H may have been more likely to smooth over the differences and ease tensions with Punk. But I think the issue with Punk is that he wants main event money and a main event spot that he very publicly never appreciated. I don’t know of a 5-time World Champion that has complained so much about a company giving him so little. Are you going to push that guy — who has never really drawn money and flopped in the UFC — ahead of cheaper, harder working, higher grossing talent with better attitudes?
It would take some concession on Punk’s part. Would he have been willing to come in, start at a certain position for a certain amount of money with growth over the later years of his contract? Maybe. |

He tried to go back to WWE, they said no. He tried to get in by getting that hosting gig with Fox, WWE said no again. Fox offered to pay his WWE contract with the only condition being that Punk be on Smackdown and not Raw, WWE said no yet again. Then suddenly, AEW is "pro wrestling" and Punk is back! And guess what is back on the menu... FEDBAD! FEDBADing is his rallying cry, and the Cultist just eat it up. Celebrate a guy who failed at everything he tried, MMA, Acting, Comic Books, Reality TV, and even including getting WWE to take him back. Celebrate a guy who didn't want anything to do with the Dub and talked all that shit. Celebrate a guy who is only there because he realized he can milk a bunch of money from a mark billionaire's son and get a big push despite it all. Everything he says is bullshit, everything about him as a tough guy is bullshit, and luckily there is a niche audience that will see all that bullshit and lap it up as eagerly as Tiny Khan's nose does when presented cocaine. |

There’s definitely a major disconnect between what live AEW audiences are feeling and what the general audience member does. AEW fans are losing their minds for Punk in the building and TV viewers are like “Really? This guy?”
One thing you have to admit about the guy is that he’s not afraid of failure. |

I am in fact gloating that there is an accounting on record of somebody in the know to show the "mark fuckwads" that thought it was real, that they have been praising the FED for a FEDBAD promo all these years. This is not even surprising though, I did say that "I am sure there will be a staunch CM Phil defender", and while you took it in a bit of a different direction than I expected, you still jumped at the chance to defend a guy who himself never learned how to defend, despite years of training in MMA. |

I’d say that no one thought the pipe-bomb was a shoot, but there are people who thought Adam Cole/Pat McAfee was a shoot.

Yeah, it’s easy to put yourself in the shoes of someone who knows better, but there are plenty of people who see a slightly different presentation of something and think “that must be real.” People are not as hard to work as those who pretend kayfabe being dead means you don’t put any effort in think.
I mentioned Adam Cole/Pat McAfee. A lot of people thought Cole’s blow-up on McAfee’s podcast was legit. Prevailing wisdom always suggested that Punk got approval for all the things he was going to say, but there are people who think he totally went off the cuff. There are people who still wonder what he was going to say about bullying like that wasn’t where the promo was scripted to be cut off. I was intrigued by the idea of Ed Koskey coming up with the ideas, taking them to Punk, even scripting them out. Turns out he was just producing it like every segment. I don’t know of Punk to misrepresent that, but it would come as a surprise to quite a lot of people, even in the wrestling sphere. But I wouldn’t call it “fraud.” It was just a promo that stood out. |

I’m trying to imagine what a CM Punk return would be like in a post-Vince world. Let’s say he gets sideways with TK because he doesn’t want to do a garbage style match with Moxley. Whatever. Where would he plug in?
I’m actually way more interested in him working NXT guys than most people on the main roster. Punk stealing The Diamond Mine from Roderick Strong could be a cute little angle, with Wade Barrett on commentary mentioning he did that to him too. Punk as NXT Champion. The gimmick would be the falsely gracious champion “grooming” the future. Eventually he brings in FTR to replace The Creeds. In 2024, if they can’t get him before then, MJF comes in as the necessary evil to dethrone Punk. |
