Sting has presence in aew, and feels special. AEW has done a much better job of utilizing him than WWE did.

Cody Rhodes has apparently not signed a new contract with AEW. Probably a boring fucking angle or something, but Sean Ross Sapp seems to think it is a legit situation.

-Really enjoy Silver and Reynolds as a plucky undercard face team -Uno and Grayson haven't been given a chance to show what they can actually do...the Bucks worked with them a TON on the indies and went out of their way to sign them within a week of the promotion forming, how those teams didn't meet up during the Dark Order/Elite feud is beyond me -Anna Jay shows promise and is a total smokeshow -Colt Cabana has always been one of my faves -Don't really care about 5 or 10, unfortunately. But they're Nightmare Factory products and I assume they'll always try to keep a few of guys like that around. As a group though I don't really know what they bring to the table anymore. Hangman is basically a member by proxy so it sets up a bunch of goofy faces for all of his heel challengers to run through but that's about it. And yet I am pretty confident that out of every stable in AEW, Dark Order will be the one that permanently sticks around. Members may cycle in and out but I bet they're always going to keep Dark Order alive solely because it was Brodie's group. I don't think that's reason enough to keep the group going but I think it's what TK will do. Dude probably envisions Brodie Jr. running the stable in a decade. |

Brandi has also taken “Chief Brandi Officer” out of her bio. That’s what indicates that it might be a work to me. But fingers crossed.

I’m now dreaming of a world in which Cody negotiates a one-night return to the Royal Rumble, preferably as Stardust, and then waltzes out on the next Dynamite to huge heat.
It’s not happening, but that would be fucking hilarious. |

I thought all the EVPs signed 5 year deals? If they were 3 year deals then those would be expired, as they originally signed on January 2nd, 2019.

Also, I don't think anybody from AEW's top level would be booked well long term in WWE, but Cody would be the one with the best chance.

I heard The Bucks and Cody had re-signed, but maybe that was The Bucks and Omega? Although I thought Omega was signed for 4 years.
Whatever. Cody will probably try to dip his toes further into “acting.” He might do a few matches for the NWA/ROH somewhere if he leaves. Which he probably won’t because so much of his stuff is tied up in AEW. |

This just reeks of an angle designed to make Fightful look stupid, and so Cody can come out on Dynamite and talk about not being appreciated while being TNT Champion, etc. A knockoff of the CM Punk leaving ROH angle.

The best way for Cody to go full heel would be to show up in the Rumble. The reaction on Dynamite would be like that RAW after Reigns beat Undertaker.

Lol, I saw a tweet poking fun at the idea that this is the best time for Cody and Triple H to go and start their own promotion together.
Cody and Jeff Jarrett I can see. |

The contract situations for a lot of guys is going to be interesting over the course of the year.
Moxley is coming up to 3 years with AEW. When’s his deal up? With everything he’s gone through, who knows how he is feeling mentally about where he’s at? If Cody did leave and start up his own thing, who would follow him? There used to be quite a few guys who were known as “Cody guys.” MJF, Shawn Spears, FTR, etc. Would they all leave at this point? Would Dustin go with his brother? How easy are AEW deals to get out of? |

Wouldn't you know? The most interesting thing in AEW that doesn't involve a Twitter Meltdown centers around Cody.

Maybe it's technically true that he's a free agent because he hasn't been there in person since the start of the new year to sign an extension... and maybe they are milking it for a storyline on "Rhodes to the Top" or on AEW TV

Maybe they'll include a clause (kayfabe) in his new contract where he's now eligible to challenge for the AEW World Championship

Trying to turn this into a poor man’s CM Punk angle is probably not the best idea. Doesn’t make anyone look particularly good.

Oh this is good. Or he just finally goes rogue and abuses his powers after Sammy beats him for the interim title. At the very least they’ve got people talking about an actual talent instead of time deaf tweets.

I assume we get Mox going right for Danielson as they were to face off before he took time away. Either that or he comes for Hangman directly and starts to go heel.

Feels hobbled together. I wonder where Mox would rather be or if he even really wants to keep doing this at all while managing his condition? When’s his deal up?

Lol, Meltzer is really defensive about the Cody story. He’s acting like it’s a foregone conclusion he signs with AEW. I wonder if TK thought the same thing leading to this potential mess?
Would be kind of funny if Cody played being a free agent for a while and did work in ROH, New Japan, maybe Impact Wrestling and handing over the Dusty Rhodes Classic trophy in NXT, all as part of his next Rhodes to the Top story. Money and happiness are the two biggest factors when it comes to people making these sorts of career decisions. It’s pretty easy to see how Cody might be disenchanted with his place in the company with a bunch of other guys being signed and the creative opening up the whole company to the tools Cody would use to get himself over. Don’t get me wrong, he probably does re-sign with AEW. But then schadenfreude if he doesn’t is going to be pretty damn amazing. And imagine if Mox goes too. Or if AEW loses access to New Japan and Danielson leaves as well. |
