Modern Times: 10/10
This is an amazing film, and the most impressive factor is the fact that it was produced in 1936. One of the greatest films I've ever seen. |

Gone Girl - 10/10 Rosamund Pike was amazing in this movie. This didn't feel like a Fincher movie though (other than the dark gloomy look and soundtrack). |

Citizenfour - 7/10
Documentary about Edward Snowden by the journalist originally contacted by him. Mostly footage of Snowden's first meetings with her and Glenn Greenwald, where he is explaining all the NSA stuff to them in person from his hotel room in Hong Kong. "Subject matter" is extremely interesting. Movie itself was pretty good... was "presented" in an annoying way kinda. h8 Obama... |

Maybe it's cause Travolta supposedly thought he was making his "Stairway to Heaven", the ultimate hit and masterpiece.

Have yet to document my recent solo_movie.saga experiences...
The Equalizer - 8/10 Felt kind of "formulaic" in the sense that "revenge movies" seem to be in vogue, but Denzel was awesome in it and it was more gruesome than I expected. Gone Girl - 8/10 It kept me guessing and made me feel strongly about the characters in different ways throughout the movie. Did kind of drag, though. There were two or three times where I thought the movie was wrapping up and became conscious of how long I'd been sitting there. The Judge - 7/10 I hate reading other peoples' reviews of movies because I find myself adopting their opinions of it. For The Judge I read Wesley Morris' review and the jist was, "the movie is trying to do too many things", which I kind of agree with. I enjoyed it though, RDJ can make me enjoy any movie at this point. Fury - 8/10 I was expecting it to be super gory but it really wasn't. Characters were really good, didn't seem overly ridiculous or beyond the realm of possibility... good movie John Wick - 7/10 I found this one hard to rate. It was another "revenge" type movie. Like the storyline itself was interesting enough and all, and whatever. I loved the kind of "world" it presented, this underbelly of hitmen that gathered at this hotel. Had a very cool vibe to it. Lots of the fight scenes were good. I liked Keanu in this. There was a lot of ridiculousness but I liked the vibe of the movie overall. |

Is it me or has Jon Bernthal been type-cast; all I ever see him play are pricks, whether in Fury or as Shane in The Walking Dead? Granted, in both cases his character is disturbed in some fashion, but still.

Also, I'm pretty sure he's not a prick in Mob City, though someone would have to confirm, cause I've only heard opinions. |

John Wick - 8/10. Moral lesson of this movie: Never steal a mustang car and kill his cute dog or he'll go Matrix jujitsu on everyone's asses. Neo still has that dodge bullet time power skills.

They didn't really use any kinda gimmicky bullet time stuff in John Wick which was nice. I thought the fight scenes were pretty well-paced. Really liked the way Keanu moved when he fought for some reason. Seemed very deliberate and mechanical.

Nightcrawler - 6/10 ... maybe 7/10. It had a bunch of stuff I liked and 6 seems like a low score but a "7/10" is the most uninteresting rating for something ever

Interstellar
Interstellar is both terrific and a mess. The 1st third is excellent, The 2nd third is pretty good and the last third is baffling and nearly incomprehensible. However, is it fair to let the last third derail how great the 1st third is? I would say it's definitely worth a viewing. InterCeption might have been a better name for the film. 1st third - 10/10 2nd third - 8/10 3rd third - 5/10 |

Interstellar - I agree that it was pretty excellent until the last 30 minutes/"denouement" of the film.
On the whole 8.5/10 |
