Something to point out: firing Joey Janela and Brian Cage doesn’t do anything to help the bloat. They’re not even featured on television anymore. Cutting them is inconsequential. The bloat comes from acts like Matt Hardy, Chris Jericho, Adam Cole, Orange Cassidy, Red Velvet and things that are actually on your TV turning away viewers. You can hire as many people as you want for Dark/Elevation.

Of course, this is coming off just weeks after losing this lights-out match. And it hasn’t slowed down Britt at all. Frankly, Adam Cole, all the great matches and all the great wins he’s had. I don’t think that’s going to slow him down at all. We saw on Rampage, he looked better than ever. I thought his promo was very strong and I expect more of that from him, convincing performances, strong promos. So he is a very highly regarded person who has been incredibly valuable since he arrived in AEW.”

Lots of things wrong with this. Seeing a loss is more important than whether or not it is technically on someone’s bullshit record or not. People saw a skinny white guy lose to another skinny white guy. People are not tuning in to see these acts. They are laughing at them and then switching off to the product and likely wrestling forever. Causally linking attention to approval is such a Vince Russo trait. These acts are not growing the promotion. They are getting comparative attention compared to a flat product no one watches because they cannot sincerely emotionally invest.

This is why Danhausen’s merchandise selling (allegedly) very well by AEW standards is an indictment. It’d be like Kaientai’s “Indeed” shirt doing well compared to The Rock’s and people saying “Wow! Kaientai is over!” No. What the fuck have you done to The Rock?

There’s a reason they don’t give you the actual numbers for these shirts. And there’s a reason people check out of this product.

Why are they putting Jay White's debut match on Rampage next week? That seems real shortsighted to debut him on a taped edition of their B Show. Also, if they want him to be a big deal, couldnt they have done better than Trent Beretta?

Yeah. OC should not be a main player. I liked him best when he was more on the fringes like that one match where there was a brawl backstage and someone gets tossed through a bathroom door and OC is just standing there.

I get that those are the things that get him popular enough to be featured but he's basically a comedy act like Santino. He can have a moment or two but he should not be involved in title matches and main events with main event guys on a regular basis. He should top out at things like his match against PAC at Evolution a couple of years ago.

He shouldn't be beating top guys. End of story.

One of the biggest things that pissed me off was comparing it to Britt Baker's loss in a similar match. The difference being that one of them lost to an opponent who's greatest career accomplishment prior to AEW was winning titles while dressing up as an ant in a comedy promotion. Britt's opponent's biggest accomplishment prior to AEW was being the NWA Women's Champion. Only way it would be comparable is if Orange Cassidy falls off the face of the earth for months at a time, and that isn't happening.
