The Visit- 2/10
Movie was really slow and boring all the way to THE TWIST which you can see coming miles away. M. Night Shamalamadong strikes out again. |

I saw the Sloth promo for Zootopia and it cracked me up; I might actually go and see it when the films comes out in the UK.

Zootopia solid 9/10. The movie had great animation, great characters, and the story was very good if a little bit heavy handed at times. This movie deserves the praise that Frozen got. Definitely one of the best animated features Disney has put out in a very long time. Instant classic in my opinion.

Deadpool - 8/10
Open Grave - 7.5/10 An interesting take on the amnesia genre. The slow reveal of what was actually going on made the end reveal a big gut punch. |

10 Cloverfield Lane - 10 Cloverfields out of 10. I really enjoyed this, which surprised me because I didn't entirely care for the first Cloverfield movie. John Goodman is immense. All three main characters were really good. Lots of really tense moments in this and I was glad the movie "played out" the way it did. Without getting too spoilery, I had a certain expectation going in and was pleasantly surprised when I saw something entirely different.

I learned a long time ago that rottentomatoes is hardly the end-all-be-all for movie ratings. They'll often end up with terrible scores for perfectly fine movies. This one isn't a masterpiece or anything, but it's hardly anywhere near that bad, and this is coming from someone who was uber critical of the movie's trailers.

Rotten tomatoes has two scoring systems. Critics will submit their reviews with their own score, i.e. 4/5, 6/10 etc, but also have to assign either a splat or tomato with their review. So, the meter is based off of that second option. That percentage of critics would recommend the film or categorize it as "good" or "decent". So it can be a bit misleading. That's why you should also read the reviews, which peg it as more of 5/10 or mediocre film.
Can't just read the fucking meter and not get any context behind it. It doesn't help BvS much but it does give you a better picture of what to expect. |

Dale and Tucker vs. Evil - 4/5. Really enjoyable. Completely stupid and daft, but an interesting and original story. Dale and Tucker are incredibly likable.

Zootopia - 8/10 - pretty good for a kids movie
Batman v. Superman - 7/10 - much better than I thought it would be, Affleck held his own at Batman but Eisenberg stole the show in my eyes....and Amy Adams |

Zootopia - 8/10
Really enjoyed it, top-notch animation as always. Really "resonated" with current political climate etc but I felt it was a bit heavy-handed with the message (not to say it was ineffective or anything, just felt really hammered into you). Not a ton of "laugh out loud" moments but there were a few. The one joke I loved that not a ton of people in the theater seemed to pick up on was the "let it go" line that the police chief used... I thought it was hilar |

Batman v Superman-6/10
Great performances from the entire cast almost but don't quite save a poorly edited, structured, paced film with no motive. Deadpool-7/10 Paper thin story but fuck me was it fun Spectre-6/10 Pretty meh follow up to the stellar Skyfall. Villain wasn't too compelling, the ending felt tacked on, story wasn't memorable. |

I dunno. My brother in law had it on his Plex account so I watched it.
Run All Night-7/10 Simple but fun with Liam Neeson as a scum bag dad trying to save his son. Ed Harris is in it and he's wonderful as always. |

Ah okay, that makes sense
I enjoyed Run All Night. Felt like they could have easily slapped a "Taken" title on it and it would've fit right in. Which is fine, the movies are good for what they are. |

Batman vs Superman 6.5/10
I thought the first half was a bit of a mess, but I think overall they delivered in the second half. I generally dislike Ben Affleck, but I thought he was quite good as Batman. I liked Lex's character as well. |

Justice League vs Teen Titans 7/10
Didn't like the voices of most of the characters. Raven's especially bothered me. Character re-designs were hit or miss. Starfire is odd to see at first, but grew on me. Raven's new look was really jarring though. She looked really androgynous and it just felt off, especially with the voice they gave her. Damian was great throughout, and what little we see of Nightwing is pretty funny. Batman has some great "WTF" expressions and moments that had me laughing. Odd that this movie's best comedy comes from members of the Bat-Family, Batman himself in particular, but it works. Starfire acting like an elementary school teacher through most of the movie was actually pretty funny too. They found a nice place for her personality that I kinda hope bleeds into the comics. She's pretty much what you'd expect a less retarded, grown up Starfire would be. The movie does come across like one of those teen shows you used to see all the freakin' time on the CW (maybe you still do see 'em IDK.) It's especially apparent at a specific part of the movie where they even play some stereotypical "teen music." Of course it is Teen Titans so that's kinda to be expected. Overall if you've enjoyed any of the recent DC animated stuff you'll like this. |

A lesson in how expectations can colour your enjoyment of a movie;
Deadpool Went in with massive expectations but didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. 7/10 Man Of Steel Avoided seeing this based on how badly received it was but was pleasantly surprised. Really enjoyed the direction they went with it, this was definitely a post-MCU Superman. 8/10 Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice Again, went in with very low expectations but ended up enjoying it. 8/10 |
