C'mon LJ, a standard paint by the numbers summer comedy cannot possibly earn such an enjoyment induced rating.

2001: A space odyssey- 9/10
I think the largest testament to this film is that despite its age this films themes become more relevent as time moves forward, and i think that will hold true for future generations as well. Timesless to be sure. |

Ghostbusters-7/10
Not bad. Characters are thin. Movie moves pretty fast so nothing really gets to simmer. The cgi was pretty mediocre at best and the story lacked stakes and was not particularly intimate. The end devolved and drug on a bit. And the villain stunk. The lines however are funny. The characters work as a group and are better together than the sum of their individual parts. It was a good waste of 2 hours with laughs and an overall enjoyable time. But that's about it. P.s. keep an eye out for the secret ending. |

No chemistry with cast, no story, low aimed humor (queef jokes and fart jokes?) I liked some of the ghost designs, the equipment, the opening sequence. Felt more like a spoof of GB. |

Thought it was pretty good. Well balanced, good cast and a plot that did the job. |

Star Trek Beyond- 9/10, Felt like an action episode of TOS. So, it was very good. Very glad that Earth wasn't involved at all. Enterprise almost never went to Earth in the shows.
6/10 "Ghostbusters" Ecto Cooler gives it a few extra points. |

Batman v Superman - I wanted to hate this movie, the only reason I watched it was because I thought it would annoy me, and sometimes I like to feel annoyed, but this really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and if it wasn't for the stuff with Doomsday I would have actually liked it. First 2/3 had flaws (too may story threads) but I still thought it was alright, and I think a Synder Batman film would have actually been pretty good, I liked how Batman/Bruce was kind of like James Bond. Too bad it shits itself at the end. 5/10

It was not necessarily a bad movie. It just didn't live up to its potential and themes that would rival those of Bollywood.

Been hearing about this one for years and about how it was "good", but first half of the movie seemed "terrible" and then second half seemed "average at most"..... |

Suicide squad: 3/10
Horrendous pacing issues. Exceptionally weak script. Onlynsaved by Deadshot and Harley managing to make bad material entertaining. This film is almost as if they took every critism applied to BvS and did it 10 fold out of spite. This isnt even fit fpr direct to dvd. |

Star Trek Beyond - I like that this had zero fat on it, just a nice tight plot. There are no double crosses or characters dying and then coming back to life, or cities being destroyed, or Batman looking at videos of other super heroes on his computer, or Thor slipping into an electric bath, it just goes from point A to point B. A total waste of Idris Elba though, I didn't really understand his character's motives either. 7/10
Blood Simple - I haven't watched this movie in like 10 years but it was just as good as I remember. 8/10 |

Suicide Squad-5/10
Villain was lame. The idea that a team of meta humans needs to be assembled in the event of an anti Superman event is interesting, except the Squad only had one real meta human. Most of the characters outside of Deadshot and Harley are extremely short changed and get very little direction or development. The save the world plot with essentially a group of skilled humans didn't make sense when they had a popular character like the Joker ready in waiting. Speaking of which, for all the hype he's barely in the fucking movie to the point that a fair take on his version can't made. Big time disappointment. |

Sausage Party - 7/10
It was everything that I'd expect from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Folks that accompanied me to the movie did not enjoy the film and told me how stupid it was. Made me sad. |

War Dogs - 7.5/10 - Pretty good overall, one of those "based on a true story" movies that is almost unbelievable to have actually happened. Jonah Hill is so much better fat.
