Convoluted, too many plots, lousy pacing. I get why it's getting trashed in the reviews and bombed at the box office. But I wanted to give it a chance.
Better off reading the book. |

Superman Returns-5/10
A boring, uninventive, suffocated slog that tries too hard to pay homage to the previous films so much that it fails both as an extension of the original 2 it's supposed to follow and a platform for future movies that could've been. The actors, Routh especially, are so bogged down in trying to playv an actor playing a character that it comes off as a high budget fan film. The recycling of plot, motives, lines, and assumptions in knowing the source material going ruined this movie. As much as I disliked Man of Steel, I respect that it very much tried to pave its own way as a new direction for its title character. Returns just apes the original and isn't even fun in doing so |

dawn of justice - 6/10
it was fun i guess. can't understand why he didn't give that spear to wonder woman instead of sacrificing himself like a dumbass. good think i watched on the pc. could skip emotional bullshit like supes conversation with his dead dad. if i watched it in the cinema the rating would have been lower. |

High would be my bet.
I watched Hackers for the first time last night and it was funny seeing the imaginary visual side of hacking. I guess it was Science Faction if you could call it that. Kinda reminded me of The Net and Johnny Mnemonic, ExistenZ and all those other dodgy yet awesome techno-net films nobody really admits to watching back then. I also saw Spotlight and despite it being a very good film, solid performances across the board and very well researched it is no Best Picture. People will forget it existed in a few years and in a few decades it will be on lists of least stand-out Oscar winners ever. That is a big budget daytime movie dressed up. Lastly The Internet's Own Boy is excellent. I knew next to nothing about Aaron Swartz but this kept me involved all the way through. Give it a go. |

I watched "Rising Sun" with Connery and Snipes which was fairly awful, "Down In The Valley" with Ed Norton which was pretty fantastic with a bit of a crap ending and "Deep Blue Sea" with Saffron Burrows and Sam L Jackson because it's just class.
I keep buying movies for a pound from the charity shop. Some sucker priced Con Air on Blu Ray at £2 so I had to buy that too because what sort of a man would leave it there? |

John Wick: Chapter 2 - 10/10
Everything I loved about the first movie was done better in this one. I will say, the first bit of the movie is a little too samey as the first, but after a little bit it definitely feels like its own movie. Loved it. |

Finally sat down and watched The Last Samurai and I have to say it was the tits. It was a little corny how much they played up the "way of the samurai" as a noble thing but the action sequences were tremendous. I even held my breath a few times but that may also be down to the flu. I'm going to go on a Tom Cruise jag and pick up Magnolia and a few others.

I remember absolutely loving The Last Samurai when I saw it...... and I kept meaning to buy the DVD to watch whenever..... and I think I almost did a few times....... but then for whatever reason I never actually did, and I don't think I have seen it since that first time that I watched it. Which is really weird considering how much I loved it at the time.

I watched the documentary The Wolfpack tonight. Wow man... That was something else. Half the time I spent in awe of these guys and how amazingly well adjusted they were considering their awful upbringing and the other half I wanted to shoot their parents for causing their fairly obvious social issues.
It is ultimately a lovely inspiring film but it will piss you off if you have any compassion. |

The Lego Batman Movie - 5/10 - Honestly, I thought it would be more like the Lego Movie... but I understand that I am probably not the target audience.
This should have been a direct to DVD movie. |
