Doctor Strange-7/10
Typical marvel outing. I really like Benedict in this movie, and the visuals and fight scenes were entertaining. Moana-8/10 Cute movie. Moana's dad reminded me of Peter Maivia. The songs were good and the movie was fun. |

Kong: Skull Island-7/10
Very fun monster movie. Lots of Kong destroying shit and people. He wasn't as humanized as the Peter Jackson version, but he was given a nice amount of sentimental touches. Also, I'd marry Brie Larson's smile. Logan-10/10 Best X-Men film to date, by a mile. Gritty, thrilling, touching and overall exhausting. Jackman was excellent and even jarring with his performance. One of the best comic book movies of all time, I think. |

I saw an awesome little Western style cop thriller called "The Hollow Point" recently.
It has dreadful reviews but I loved it. Patrick Wilson is the tits and there are a few cool little trope busts in there too. Critics are joyless bastards at times. |

Logan - 9/10
A beautiful sendoff to the character. Easily one of the best "superhero" films ever made. Manchester by the Sea - 8/10 Too many feels in this movie. Casey Affleck was exceptional. |

Get Out - 8.5/10. Absolutely loved it, and I'm not usually a fan of the "horror" type movies, although I'd classify this one much more of a thriller. Regardless, it was wonderful....

Logan 6/10. Action was great but I lost all interest in the girl once she started talking.
Kong Skull Island 9/10. Damn good movie with a stellar cast. Sets up this Monsterverse pretty well. |

And that's your opinion. I don't feel bad about my opinion at all. I've talked to others that didn't care for Logan as well. It was a good movie but wasn't this masterpiece people make it out to be to me, other seem to think it is, that's fine.

Haven't seen either of those movies but I think you may be over reacting a bit. You didn't like Kong I get it, from what I've seen and heard a lot of people did. Just like I don't think Logan was all that great, but a lot of people do. You don't have to be snobby about it though, we could have a good conversation about what I liked and you didn't I think.

Some good stuff but it never really came together. Not terrible. If you're looking for good sci-fi concepts, nothing much to see here. Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are pretty good in it. |

Simple Fan is citing possible plot holes in Logan but defended Batman v Superman and its many plot holes to the death. Claimed people were going in looking for a problem.

I guess it kind of funny but I didn't go into Logan looking for a problem, maybe you didn't with Dawn of Justice. I've stated the problems I had with Dawn of Justice but I did think it was a great movie. I was actually excited to see Logan with all the positive reviews but it just didn't live up to them for me. I wouldn't call my what I had to say about Logan as plot holes either, they were just minor things that threw me off from the movie. I liked it I just didn't love it like most.

Yeah. From a story, character, pacing, editing and overall presentation standpoint Logan is miles better than BvS. You may enjoy one more than the other. But it doesn't change that Logan is far better structurally as a functioning piece of story telling than BvS or Kong, and I enjoyed Kong.

Skull Island didn't leave me with any head scratching questions and I thought it set up this Monsterverse well so I gave it a high rating. My experience at the theater was good. When seeing Logan there were parts of the movie that threw me off of the story and left me questioning why they did it, so I gave it a lower rating but still a good one. Once I watch it at home I may like it better. |

That's how you see it I guess but I'm not comparing Skull Island to any other movie when I rate it. It's purely how I felt after seeing the movie. For me Skull Island was a good movie that I had no problems with so 9 felt right at the time. I will say I had more time to think about Logan and talk about it with friends befor posting my rating because I didn't do it after seeing it.

I just think you take your movies more serious than I do. I know my taste are different but everyone can't be the same. Hell I think the best comic book movie ever is Punisher War Zone and people hated that movie. Was hoping Logan was going to be as profane as it.

War Zone was good. Like a 7/10. Really fun wish theyd make more. Keep the budget low...series is cannon now thougn so its moot.
The disconnect here is i see a medium for art and you probably go off adrenaline highs. Still kong was flat for an entire act. Movie totally phoned it in and played it safe. You've seen that movie dozens of times. We all have. Maybe you like "that movie" theres a reason they release "that movie" a coiple of times a year every year...but a 9/10...crazy |

Good to know someone else likes War Zone. That's just how The Punisher should be represented. You are correct movies are entertainment to me not a work of art. I can get safe but they wrapped safe in a lot of action and I loved the fact that Mason and Conrad didn't have a long drawn out love story in the middle of the movie. It was just satisfying to me while Logan was a lot more confusing at parts of it.

The Karate Kid - I had never seen this movie before, so it didn't have that glow of nostalgia while watching it but it was good I guess. Ralph Macchio is actually a good actor, very natural, and likeable as New Jersey wop. Little bit corny, but I still liked it, a little bit long though.
The Karate Kid Part 2 - Daniel Larusso and Mr Miyagi go to Okinawa! Surprisingly well shot with a nice score,it almost would have felt like an art-house movie if not for scenes of a scrawny teenager karate chopping blocks of ice in a crowded bar. Plot is a bit shit, and it's almost comical the way Mr Miyagi's old rival (now successful business man) keeps showing up and challenging Mr Miyagi to a fight. Stuff about honour and saving a village and then there is a big storm. The ending goes off the rails with the business man's nephew zip lining into a dance and challenging Daniel to a fight to the death! I still liked it, a little bit long though. Battle of Algiers - This was a re watch. One of my favourite movies of all time. The film is over 50 years old and it's still the best movie dealing with Western powers fighting guerrilla forces (terrorists). You would think some contemporary filmmaker would apply this movies style to a more modern conflict like Iraq or something. Great movie. |
