The Accountant - 5/10
Disappointing. It starts great. Autistic accountant doing all kinds of wonders with numbers for criminals and regular people alike. No facial expressions as he's constantly focused so the casting of Ben Affleck is perfect. Then it turns into a Bourne movie and turns out the accountant is a master of martial arts, marksmanship and whatever you can think of. |

Justice League-6/10
Has all the same problems the two previous crappy Snyder efforts had; pacing and editing issues, character development and motive, and a compelling villain. THE GOOD 1. The team-this is the highlight of the film. The casting of the heroes and their chemistry together is top notch. They mesh well together. 2. Superman-they finally got him right. Allegedly, all or most of the scenes were Whedon reshoots, and he did in 20 minutes what Snyder failed to do in over 5 hours of film, and that's get the tone and personality of Superman right. 3. The Flash-this is a breakout role for Miller. He's been on plenty of movies already, but he's now in a big tent pole style movie, wear he steals almost every scene he's in. TEH BADZ 1. Steppenwolf-Good God he was fucking boring. A cardboard cutout of a villain with little motive, none of which was compelling, boring dialogue that came off as just rambling, and a horribly rendered cgi model that looked fake as shit. 2.editing/pacing-this is something Snyder has always sucked balls at. You just jump scene to scene with little if any set up. For instance, we get the scene from the trailer of Bruce removing his snow goggles, looking down on the bar in Iceland or wherever he found Aquaman. His lines about a stranger from the sea kicks in literally right after. You go from him looking down from the top of the mountain to him talking to the patrons. This could've easily been fixed by having Bruce walk thru the doors, a clear outsider, with the patrons stopping what they're doing to look at him as he walks thru the bar. He can get to the front, look around, and start talking. But they skip all that. This is the whole movie. It's one scene right after another. There a few scenes where the movie will slow down to let the characters breath, and those are the best moments. But they're too few and far between. 3. Stakes-there were non. Except for one family in the end. But you don't see how the worldis rearin reacting to Steppenwolf, to scientists being stolen, to the world seemingly about to end. It's all very....contained. In the Avengers, you see the teamsaving people but also see just how big a threat the invasion is to civilians. In Justice League, you don't get the sense anything that's going on is of much importance to the world. 4. Action Sets-they're boring, and uninspired. Outside of one scene involving Supes and the League, the action for the most part is meh. The end of the movie, with shoddy cgi, just drags, much like the last 2 efforts, and is really the least interesting part of the film. 5. Character development-sure, the characters are fun, but because the film is so short and they have to rush into setting up the team to battle Steppenwolf, you never get a chance to sit down and really invest in these characters. There are moments that give you an idea, and they're interesting, but the brisk pace and jumpy editing of the film doesn't allow these scenes to be fully developed. Especially Aquaman. As cool as he was, and as funny as a scene with him before the final battle was, he wasn't really fleshed out much or given much motive to be there. I gave Bvs the same score, as I feel from a film standpoint these movies are about the same in quality. In terms of watchability, however, Justice League, is a much better waste of time. It has great character moments and is light on the usual overbearing style of Snyder's attempt at dark and complicated and focuses more on trying to just be a simple crowd pleasure. Which is why I feel it's a very small but very certain step in the right direction. I wonder if this'll get a sequel. Affleck looks like he's all but done, but everyone else seems on board. So I'm interested to see if they somehow rebuild the train wreck Snyder has left them. Amazing he lasted this long. |

Get out: 8/10
Was going lower until the 3rd act. At first its just a reimagining of the stepford wives but the 3rd act really let itself go to a dark place. The film's ability to shift gears so many times and remain not only cohesive but compelling is really impressive. |

Godzilla (2014) - 3.5 out of 5
Found it better than Shin Godzilla overall but this film's Godzilla might have been on screen for less time than in the Shin film. |

Moviepass #20 Roman J Israel Esq. 8/10 - I don't see how Denzel doesn't get a best actor nod for this. Best of all the movies I've seen.

I give Roman J a 3/10. Was all over the place. Denzel brought a lot to the table for the movie. At times Denzel was acting autistic, then next seen he'd be delivering a line like he's Classic Kick-Some-Ass Denzel. Story was weak and not that engaging either. it had some interesting things going for it, but the dots never connected for it.

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - 8.7/10 didn't go into this movie with any expectations but really enjoyed it. kept me engaged the entire time. Would have liked to see another final scene. Was surprised by how deep the cast was, every other scene a recognizable face is popping up.

Tim Allen as a biker is only a bit more believable than as a cage fighter.

Amazing performance by James Franco. Burned alive within the first 5 minutes of the movie, without even opening his eyes, much less moving. |

The Long Goodbye
This was very good I thought. It's based on the Raymond Chandler novel, and to date I've never read a Raymond Chandler novel, but they make for good movies. Robert Altman is one of my favorite "stylistic" directors, all of his movies are set in cool ass buildings and houses and stuff. |

Doctor Strange - 4 out of 5
Really good overall even though it follows a similar pattern Marvel have been using for their Cinematic Universe films. The first half being slow and mainly spent on building the origin while the latter half is when things start to really move along and act more as the character's showcase. |

Last movie I saw was the Brit made psychological thriller Fright. Ian Bannen plays an escaped lunatic who terrorises babysitter (Susan George) while ex wife Honor Blackman is out with her fiancee. Any one seen this fine chiller.

Dr. Strange - 5/10
I loved the shifting landscapes. I liked Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor. I hated the plot and the shocking performance of Tilda "Don't put me in comic book films. I stink." Swinton. The little boy in The Last Airbender should sue Tilda Swinton. He'd have a hell of a case. |

Bad Moms - 4/10
Kathryn Hahn saved this from the bin. So talented and enjoyable is Kathryn Hahn that I watched an otherwise deplorably bad film. Mila Kunis is quite frankly a terrible actress with no redeeming features in a movie designed to take away her only appeal by ageing her. Don't cast Mila Kinis in a lead fucking role. She's shite. |
