It should def end with him Superman after he saves Lois he then drops the famous "Statiscally speaking flying still is safest form of travel."
Then it can end. It probably won't end like that |

Also, wasn't the mantra at the beginning of Smallville "No tights, no flights"? lol.

You can only go so long in life without tights and fights. This applies to television characters as well

Yeah the motto is stupid now.
Anyone that has stuck around wants to see Clark as Superman. |

I really can't wait for the next Batman. Now that Lost is over I need something to look forward to.
Hardly any good big blockbusters coming out this summer, or next really. 2012's summer is going to be wild. |

Would I like Smallville? I'm in the market for new shows. I mean going back and watching too, not just jumping in.

The whole "no flights" thing is especially ridiculous. I could buy it before, because its not really something he would think he could do.
But then Kara comes in, is flying all around. Kandorians come in, are flying all around. So Clark KNOWS this is something he should be able to do. Apparently, it should be quite easy too since all these other Kryptonians can do it within seconds of getting powers with no practice. |

You can easily jump in. It's not hard to follow or catch up on.
However you probably wouldn't like it. |

Pretty much just Avengers and Batman 3. Those are potentially the last two big payoffs in the comic movie boom. Pretty huge.
On the other side of the coin, the 80 million dollar yet 3D, high school reboot of Spiderman is coming out. It would be nice if it didn't suck, but I think that will start the shark jumping of the trend. JJ Abrams' next Star Trek is coming out that summer and although I'm not much of a Trek fan, I loved the last one and am really interested to see what's done there. Should be great. |

I don't have very high expectations of Thor, but it should be decent. That's really all I'm looking for really, is a decent movie that sets him up well for Avengers.
Captain America I have higher expectations for, because setting him up well and making that movie hit will be a big factor in whether or not Avengers flies high. This should be in the other thread, I suppose, but we've digressed to it. |

I have a feeling that Thor and Cap are going to suffer from being "Alright! Let's set up The Avengers!" rather than "Let's make a great Thor/Cap movie."

I don't know, the Thor guys sound fairly passionate about it, and the Cap production would be that way by design (just look at the title).
Here's hoping for a behind the scenes doc on the Avengers production on the Iron Man 2 DVD. |

be interesting to see if they go with hal or not. they probably will, since he is the primary figure in the comics again but i always liked jlu's john stewart. way more than in the comics.
also, hopefully they won't put an origin story in. between new frontier, first flight, and the upcoming live-action film, i think we've heard the tale of abin sur's death quite enough. |

It'll probably be Hal. With the movie and all, they want to cash in on that. Though maybe they'll go Corps style and just have them all.

The three-man writing team that did work on the Green Lantern screenplay, Greg Berlanti, Michael Green, and Marc Guggenheim (see “Green Lantern Movie Gets Writers”), has been hired to work on a sequel to Green Lantern and on a movie based on the Flash, according to Hollywood Reporter. They will produce treatments for the two films, then proceed to write a screenplay for one of the two, according to the report.
Green Lantern is cast and shooting in New Orleans (see “Angela Bassett in Green Lantern”), but it’s very rare for a sequel to be begun before the first film is even completed. The Flash movie, which DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns is producing (see “Johns to Produce Flash Movie”), is now moving ahead based on Johns’ recent comic work on the character. It will utilize the Barry Allen version of the character, according to the report. |

DC is grooming Blue Beetle (the modern one) for a live-action series (presumably for the CW). No idea where DC's sudden confidence in the character is coming from though it should be noted that DC/WB wanted a young male superhero on TV just a few years (the thankfully aborted Dick Grayson prequel series). Also consider they may be planning Smallville's successor (which, imo, was really the whole deal behind The Graysons and that Aquaman pilot).
It seems Blue Beetle is actually far along and may have a showing at this year's SDCC. |

This is a 'force-feed' push, I'm thinking, going from cameo appearances to a live-action series just doesn't seem natural to me.

yeah especially since they canned his solo title pretty early on, surprised they'd be backing him as the protagonist of a tv show now.

Margaret Weis Productions has added another game title with a tie-in to a popular media property with the Smallville Roleplaying Game, scheduled to release in August 2010.
Based on the CW’s TV series of the same name, Smallville focuses on super-powered action and coming-of-age drama. Players can take on the role of familiar characters from the series, such as Clark, Lois, or Oliver, or they can invent their own original characters and insert them into the world of Smallville. The game uses an updated version of Margaret Weis Productions’ Cortex System called Cortex Plus, featuring the same core mechanics as its Serenity RPG and other products. Cortex Plus focuses on the character’s values and relationships. The Smallville design team is lead by Cam Banks. The 192-page rulebook includes complete game rules and full-color interior pages. This will be a hardcover book. Suggested retail price will be $39.99. Stock number is MWP 1030. Planned follow-up books include the Smallville High School Yearbook for October, and The Watchtower Report for December. ***************** Talk about waiting too long to bring something out... |

The animated sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies is coming, and it's called "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse". It follows the second arc of the Superman/Batman series which introduced the modern Supergirl. Hopefully the classic voices return as it did with the first movie.
This makes Public Enemies the first of DC Animated's films to get a sequel. |
