Hot off the heels of the new Superman/Batman sequel, Apocalypse, we now know that Summer Glau will be voicing Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl in the animated movie. Summer's made a name for herself portraying deceptively tough females in sci-fi/fantasy genre works, becoming Supergirl seems right up her alley.
I'd like to be right up her alley. Dig through her trash, see if she got some Terminator props in there. |

The only one that I have liked enough to watch a couple times is New Frontier. Though it has the advantage of having source material that is one of my favorite stories.

I know that. But it isn't one of my favorite stories like New Frontier is.

Just making known Public Enemies has the advantage you mentioned.
I loved all the movies. Some I liked less, though. |

Didn't say the advantage was being based on source material.
Said the advantage was being based on source material that was already one of my favorite stories. But yeah, none of the movies have been horrible. Haven't seen Wonder Woman or Crisis on Two Earths yet. |

Wonder Woman was surprisingly good. It's honestly one of the very, very few takes on Wondy that I really enjoyed.
Crisis on Two Earths was okay, nothing terrible, but hardly the worst thing they've ever done. I did like their take on Flash, and Owlman was pretty badass. |

Back in the books, Wonder Woman is getting an overhaul with a new creative team and direction. Jim Lee designed a new look for her, as her series aims to level more evenly with the other 2 major players of the DC Universe.
Not fond of it, but I'll give it a while. |

Looks like the jacket 90s Superboy wore. Never been a huge WW fan or anything but dunno how I feel about them retconning her history. Mainly as to how it will affect the rest of the DCU (Donna Troy, Wonder Girl)...so does this mean she never killed Max Lord either?

Apparently all the current WW history is still there, Diana is just working her way back. All that seems to sound like a convenient fail-safe in the event people end up hating the new stuff. "Oh well, the timeline is fixed, yay, classic WW is back!" Or if it resonates they'll fold this urban WW into the DCU proper.
To be honest the whole premise of a city raised Diana would actually make for an interesting movie or live-action TV show. |

Gen13 would make a shitty movie. It wasnt even a great comic...it was just 'risque' for the time. It was the Skinemax of comics.

Ya know what, I'm warming up to this new Wonder Woman. If her power level is shifted to be between Clark and Bruce (rather than be the lady who can fight Superman), and her personality is more modern progressive than 'feminazi'; I see this lasting longer than Blue Superman.
A Smallville appearance with her new suit and backstory could build massive awareness and appeal to sell the update. Being that Jim Lee designed the suit, perhaps they could slip it in DC Universe Online. I'd prepare a cross-media blitz of Wonder Woman if I were taking it seriously. |

Wonder Woman just looks like she raided Black Canary's closet. So now instead of looking like a stripper, she looks like a hooker. Blecch.

Smallville's SDCC Panel:
* Tom Welling will be there! The show’s leading man and exec producer will be making his second appearance at the Con. * Welling will be joined by returning series regulars Erica Durance, Cassidy Freeman, and Justin Hartley at the show’s panel on Sunday at 10 a.m. * Showrunners Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson will also be present to answer all your burning questions about the show’s 10th and final season. * Did I mention acclaimed Smallville writer Geoff Johns will be moderating said panel discussion? * Last but not least: You’ll be treated to an exclusive first look at the season premiere! |

He played Clark Kent for ten years. Tom and everyone involved in Smallville are pretty much doomed to either legacy roles or something comic related (voice work in future comic animation or games, appearance in otherwise 'geeky' media).

If that's legit there's plenty of reasons for him to do that at the time. Smallville's done after this season.

I might have to question Chris Nolan's sanity if he asked Tom Welling to play Superman in a movie.

As far as risque 90's comics go, Danger Girl blows Gen13 right out of the water.

If you want risque comics, go find Empowered. It's a series of b/w graphic novels by Adam Warren of Dirty Pair fame.
It's about a girl who gets a super suit that as she uses its powers, it starts covering less and less of her body until it gets a recharge. |

Thomas Jane voices the title character in Jonah Hex, a DC Showcase Original Short included on the Blu-ray and 2-Disc Special Edition DVD of Batman: Under the Red Hood, due for release on July 27th (see “Batman: Under the Red Hood”). The voice cast also includes Linda Hamilton, Michelle Trachtenberg, Michael rooker, and Jason Marsden.
Jane actually wanted to play the title role in the live action feature. “I actually wanted to do the live action film,” Jane said in an interview provided by Warner Home Video. “When they were casting the movie, I had a guy come and do my makeup, we took some photos and sent them off to Akiva Goldman.” Josh Brolin got the part; maybe Jane dodged a bullet on that one. Jane spoke well of the animated version. “The animators did a great job in capturing the ugliness of the character,” he said. “He's not a pretty boy. He looks like he's been butchered by a blind barber. He's mean as hell, and I can't imagine anybody wanting to make love to the dude. He must be awful lonely. And that just makes him meaner.” Jane claims geek cred by noting his love for the comics medium. “The medium is so broad, much more so than film,” he said. “There's so much more room in comics for genres, styles, flavors, different auteurs. That's what makes comics a great and timeless medium -- a medium that will always be a compelling way to tell a story.” |

I love Thomas Jane. He's one of those semi-obscure actors who I enjoy consistently. Everyone tends to have one of those.
Although, he's gotten a bit more recognition lately because of Hung. I was a huge mark for The Mist, and probably only enjoyed the first Punisher because of him. |

To anyone that hasn't yet seen The Mist, or enjoyed it, I reccomend seeing it in black and white.
It was intended to be released that way, and was shot to have a lot of bright lighting and such to suit it. The studio didn't want to allow it though. It looks fantastic. The special effects look top notch because they weren't meant to be seen in full color. It's great because it has a classic horror movie feel and just suits the tone of the film wayyyy better. The dvd I bought features the B&W version. |
