The credits scenes were pretty predictable in all honesty. Good flick though.

Just received my copy of Kolchak: The Night Stalker the TV show that spiritually preceded the X Files. I mostly ordered it because of Darren McGavin but I hear it is legitimately good stuff.
Anybody seen it before? I'm hoping for a jovial monster of the week type deal with a bit of substance to it. Like a cross between The Twilight Zone and Eerie Indiana. |

Yeah, have to agree. As soon as the scene started I was like “I know what’s gonna happen here”. Still cool though.

Robin Hood - 6.5/10
Not sure why they tried to modernize the costumes so much, it didn't help the story and it was really distracting. Decent action scenes but middle of the road, plotwise. |

Unless you have Alan Rickman chewing the scenery and practically stealing the movie, a film on Robin Hood is not worth watching.
The Robin Hood film from 6 years ago (or so) was okay, except for Russell Crowe's dodgy accent and anachronistic WW2-esque troop carriers. |

Moor was a term used to describe Arabs, Africans and Muslim Europeans of the time.
So yes, a Moor could be black. |

It may go some way to explaining the confusion as to why a character can be black and Arabic.

Three screenwriters is never a good sign. All male too. Clearly never heard a mother-in-law joke they didn't piss themselves at.

Rainn Wilson is always worth watching and the kid in this is quite cute so there are good bits in between the varying examples of gross negligence.
The action is predictable as hell though. It's not as good as Deep Blue Sea, far from it. It's probably around the level of Jaws 4. |

The Equalizer 10/10
Someone could probably critique that there is no tension in it because Denzel is basically Batman and barely breaks a sweat, but fuck it. Sometimes it's just really satisfying to see a revenge movie where a dude just stomps the shit out of a bunch of evil fucks, tension be damned, and this delivers in that regard, possibly better than anything I've ever seen. I got it in a two pack with the second one, so I'm gonna fire that up in a bit. |

The Equalizer 2 6/10
Fuck, not nearly as good. Pacing is really bad. Part of what made the first one so good was that the people he fought were real scum bags. These guys are bad people but they're just kind of random soldier guys. Nowhere near as slimy as the russian mafia from the first. Main antagonist sucks. Also, the other instances of him helping neighborhood people feels a bit more forced and out of place within the main narrative, whereas in the first it felt more organic. Finally, there is a twist that fucking anyone could see coming. |

I too watched The Equalizer 2 last night. Not as good as the first, the tone is consistent but the story isn't depicted nearly as well and it's lacking in the sudden, jarring action.
It does have two excellent fight scenes but they're early on and mean nothing to the story. I like Antoine Fuqua and I love Denzel but they can do a lot better than this. The first was a strong action film that suffered a release too close to John Wick. The sequel is definite proof that Wick deserves a franchise, Equalizer does not. They should have tied Denzel down to a short run tv series remake. They struggled to fill two hours with the plot here. |

I can't really find any fault with it. It's not a classic so I can't give it a 10 but it's perfect in every other regard. |

Into the Spiderverse-10/10
Best Spider-Man movie to date, imo. Miles as a character is great. There were real stakes and consequences, the animation was outstanding. Like a motion comic. And I liked what seemed to be the Raimi Spider-Man and seeing how his life turned out. Overall I absolutely loved this film. Cannot recommend it enough. The end credits scene is stellar. |

I'd say it was my favorite Spidey film alongside Spider-Man 2 (The Raimi one). When you think how off the rails this story could have gone it makes it all the more impressive.

Aquaman 6/10
Kinda naff, and ends up becoming a huge CGI mess; it will not age well. Wonder Woman remains the best of the current DC films at the mo, but that is not a lofty position. |

I just saw it too, and ended up stopping and buying Spider-man on PS4 on the way home. So that should tell you how I feel about it.
