Watching BlacKkKlansman, didn't actually expect it to be such a hilarious film. By about half an hour racial language has been devalued down to a ludicrous level by repeated use in farcical ways. It's a simple way to do it but it works very well.
I think the film would be a bit of a slog if it was like "Detroit" or something. In fact Detroit really annoyed me, this is very good and thoroughly enjoyable so far. Easily Spike Lee's best film since the 90's because I prefer farce and comical undermining to pure demonisation. |

Did not like the pointless love story at all. Spike could have chopped about 25-30 minutes out of that film quite easily and left a much more streamlined and enjoyable film.
It's very good but the addition of the fuckable Black Panther woman was completely pointless. There was no need for it, the film had enough going for it without it. They could have done all of that Black Panther stuff and not had him try to fuck the leader. |

Spent a good chunk of the movie thinking "that guy looks and sounds exactly like Steve Buscemi", apparently he's one of his brothers. Jesus man, hopefully the other brothers are great looking because if they all look like that then how do we know Steve Buscemi hasn't been pulling a Multiplicity on us for years?

Agree that the love story portion was a bit of a drag.

Escape Room - 6/10
It was all going along decently enough until the last hour. Last half hour is a trainwreck. |

Yeah the love plot in BK was highly unnecessary. It didn't take away from my enjoyment but it's definitely a useless diversion from the centralplot.

Yeah she's the hot unattainable chick in that too. 90% of that film could have happened but didn't and yet the central premise that two men are playing the same character when it really only would take one of them is hilariously true. What a weird story. I think Topher Grace is great, he certainly plays "detestable" very well and doesn't shy away from using the same mannerisms that made him a divisive protagonist for That 70's Show. He does have a very smackable face... |

Skateboarders are all lunatics. Skateboarding documentaries are good but documentaries about the lunatic behind the skateboard are literally always great.

Yorgos Lanthimos may be the newest director who disappoints me the most.
Pointlessly weird. At least Dogtooth makes sense. All of his American films have been awful. |

Split-7/10
Really fun performance from James McAvoy. Casey had a really interesting, if not fully fleshed backstory that I wish we saw more of. The upcoming sequel maybe dives into that, but on its own merit as a standalone, I wanted more of her history. The premise was really cool and the whole idea of what the horde considers pure. Hopefully we get everything nearly wrapped and further explored in Glass. |

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse 8/10
i actually really loved this, despite really not liking Mile Morales too much, but I managed to enjoy him in this. Was caught off guard by the modern universe spiderman death, but I guess I should of seen it coming based upon the source material. Nick Cage as Spiderman Noir was amazing. I love how they mocked the origin stories in the movie, and even putting in the Spider-Man 3 dancing bit. Of course it wouldn't be a Spider-Man origin story without someone dying. |

Game Night-7/10
Fun, kinda all over the place comedy crime thriller with a funny cast. Enjoyed it even though the back and forth of that shenanigans got a little murky towards end. But still a fun little throwaway. |

I bet all of the people he has killed since 2007 are equal to or greater than the number he saved in Schindler's List.
He's mad that his glory as Oskar didn't result in Oscar glory and now he's undoing it all, one paint by numbers action movie at a time. Oddly enough Cuba Gooding Jr won an Oscar and went on to kill everybody he could on DVD so maybe winning an Oscar is a bad thing in the action world. |

What a nice documentary. That had very few negative vibes in it and because of the clear and apparent nature of that negativity I think the director did well to avoid delving too deep into it in favour of concentrating on a fond remembrance of an almost forgotten niche in wrestling history.

Tag-6/10
The tag sequences and set ups were hilarious and easily the best part of the movie. The actors are all funny and get fun things to do. The part that kinda killed it for me was the end. Couple of heavy handed outs to move the movie to the ending cause a little tonal shift that's kinda weird, and also felt very hammy and unearned. It was still a fun watch however. |

Perfectos Desconocidos (Perfect Strangers)-8/10
Spanish language film about a group of friends who decide to play a game, putting their cell phones on the table and having any alert or phone call they receive read aloud to the group. Of course shenanigans shortly follow, including an extended gag where one of the characters gets mistakenly and falsely outed as being gay. The lines and dingers are really sharp, largely, I think, because they're in Spanish so there's a bit more flare in how they're delivered. It was a fun devil's advocate, what do you have to hide type of movie. My fave comedy in a while. |

It's a reboot/retelling.
Broly as a character wasn't actually apart of the Main Dragonball Story, as are characters such as Cooler, Janemba, Bojack...etc This is basically moving Broly story into the Main DB Universe, with a retelling of his story. Frieza is handed the keys to King Cold's Empire due to him retiring, where Frieza meets the Saiyans for the first time, gives them Scouters...etc King Vegeta is proud of his son Vegeta as a baby and his power level, and the potential he has, until he is told of another Saiyan baby with a higher potential. King Vegeta is pissed at this and send Broly to be sent to a far off planet that is inhabitable and is dangerous and is more then likely going to kill the child. Paragus follows Broly to this planet to save his son. Frieza learns of Broly high potential and decides to blow up Planet Vegeta, Gine and Bardock send Goku off to earth... Only differences, Broly is not a monster who is triggered by a crying baby, and he hates Vegeta not Goku. |
