Austrian horrors and psychological thrillers are uniquely disturbing. A lot of the inspiration for that comes from Angst.

Lady Bird (2017) - 3/5
I had really high expectations due to all of the awards this movie was nominated for and I was disappointed in the end, mostly. The film is a simple story of a modern family from Sacremento trying to make it work. Dad and Mom have a 17 year old daughter and two adopted kids, money is tight, dad loses his job, the girl gets laid for the first time after she falls for the gay kid who has to act straight because they go to Catholic school. Anyway there were some amazing acting scenes throughout no doubt. Tracy Letts and Laurie Metcalf are always brilliant in everything they do and the lead actress playing Lady Bird also was brilliant I just couldn't help feel underwhelmed by the script. I guess considering Letts and Metcalf I was expecting some sort of dark twist in the tone of 3 Billboards. But it is great for what it is, I just wanted more. |

The Sisters Brothers (2018) - 2/5
Yeah I'd say barely 2/5. I really feel like it's a 1/5. But I have to give credit to the solid acting throughout. However the pace and script are a mess. I feel the production of this movie must have had some real issues with editing or decision making I don't know. Some scenes go on and on in near pitch black with no storytelling that I could find... I just felt the scenes were endless at times, and usually pointless. The story is about two brothers who are sort of Outlaw Bounty Hunters or hit men who are charged by their boss with finding someone who has developed a chemical that will illuminate gold in water so you can just bend over and pick it up. It turns from one goose chase to another and as it goes on just gets worse and worse. I love Pheonix and John Reilly and usually Jake Gyllenhal but this movie fucking sucked. And John C. Reilly is the only really good thing about the movie because he is hilarious in about any context but especially in the wild west. |

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019) - 4/5
Great movie. I won't talk much about the story as I can tell everyone has seen it. I loved the turn and the pop it got in my Cinema was awesome. Seeing violence like that pop a crowd when it would normally revolt them was f u c k i n g brilliant. I LOVED Leo, he just get's better and better. I also loved Brad Pitt, what a bad ass dude. That said the movie is way to damn long and I'd love to see a half hour of bull shit cut from it, I wouldn't even notice. |

Well, that was excellent, a real feel-good film with some great laughs. In fact the laugh count was exceptionally high for a superhero film, it was like Thor: Ragnarok that way. Lots of laughs and fun to keep the action flowing in a way kids can enjoy.
I liked the child cast too, particularly the little girl and little boy with their wisecracks. The older kids were good, I'm not sure they cast the right kid for Billy Batson but I'm glad the boy from IT was paired up with Adam Brody. They look very alike. This is the most fun DC film, possibly ever. |

I enjoyed it a fair amount more than Aquaman.
Aquaman was a fun film too but there were some scenes that made the film way too slow and it definitely needed a shorter run time. |

That scene where Aquaman and whoever that red headed twat was. Where they were walking through a city and she's never seen flowers and other shit and she's acting really retarded and he's acting really homo and the music is like R&B meets Nickelback.
That scene almost made me cut myself. |

SHAZAM has a coherent, clear storyline which is built up and staged excellently. The action is secondary to the world-building and I think that was a smart decision. The comedy was a mixture of one liners, sight gags and some outstanding references. The performances were also stronger than in Aquaman. There's even a mild Aquaman diss in the post credits.
It was a 4/4 film. |

Aquaman had Willem Dafoe on a seahorse though, so there is that.
I think I gave Aquaman 3/4 because besides the length and boring or unnecessary parts it was a breath of fresh air for DC and overall an enjoyable and solid film. |

It Comes At Night (2017) - 1/5
I watched this due to good reviews, I have no idea how they procured money to shoot this much less any good reviews. The story is that it's the end of the world, nobody knows much other than people are getting sick and you need to stay away from everyone because you don't know who has "it". A family has stowed themselves away in the woods and comes upon another family who needs help. They join forces and survive fine until it all goes to shit in the end. There is a constant allusion to "something" some "foce" that I guess "comes at night"... but you never see it any it doesn't play as aggressive a role in the film as you'd think. I can't believe I made it to the end of the movie, I kept expecting some kind of cool payoff that would make sense but there wasn't anything. The lead character literally shoots a baby boy and his mother, like that is the arch of this movie. Horrible. |

It's not really an apocalyptic horror film. It's a character study of trust, paranoia and fear. You need to read full reviews, the snippets will mislead you.

Have you seen Mayhem? It's got Glenn from Walking Dead and my overall #2 boner maker Samara Weaving. This virus gets loose in an office building and they are quarantined. The virus brings out everyones true feelings and desires and hatreds and shit. And it's kind of a mix between Belko Expirament and Scott Pilgrim vs the World. It's pretty good. And Samara Weaving makes my boner sprout arms and hands to jack it self.

Bone Tomahawk (2015) - 4/5
Watched on Prime. This is cool, Kurt Russel stars as the Sheriff of a small western town, Patrick Wilson is a rancher with a bad leg injury staying with his pretty wife who is a doctor's assistant. One night the Sheriff calls upon the assistant to remove a bullet from a prisoners leg. The sheriff leaves the jail with his deputy watching over the doctor and the incapacitated prisoner (David Arquette) and when he returns in the morning, it is obvious that an abduction has taken place. The clue lead to some sort of Cannibal tribe who live in the mountains, not Indians but savages, Troglodytes. So the Sheriff, the husband, the assistant deputy (Richard Jenkins, amazing performance) and a friend of the sheriff (Matthew Fox, Jack from Lost) go into the mountains to rescue the ranchers wife, deputy, and even the prisoner. That's the story simply put with no major spoilers. I really enjoyed this movie. The actors were all a great combination for me as I love them all from all types of different work. I'd highly recommend this if you haven't seen it. It has some elements of horror, some elements of western, funny at times (Thanks to Richard Jenkins, so fucking good here probably his career best). |

The Woman in Black (2012) - 2/5
I watched this on Prime, and I didn't like it. From the first scene you can tell there is something bullshit about this movie, they way the 3 sisters move in perfect synchronicity spelled the end before it even began. However it strengthens early. Radcliff is a solicitor and has a job in a far away village. He's to address an old dead lady's estate and sell her house. There is obviously something going on in the town, everyone treats him like he smeared shit on the carpet. As he begins to work at the house he unleashes a spirit who hates children because she lost her own. The movie looks fantastic and the acting is on point. It's just that the movie gets really stupid in the final act and I really didn't like it. |

We're Still Here (2015) - 3/5
I watched this on Prime. The story is super simple. A middle aged couple have lost their son in crash and move out of town to a remote house in Connecticut. Quickly they began experience some scary shit and invite hippy friends to the house to do a seance. The wife is sure that it's her deceased son trying to reach out. But she's very wrong. So I wrote a really long review for this that just got deleted due to a random finger closing out the page on my keyboard. Anyway. The film is really fun and easy, but still scary. It reminds me of a modern take on the Hammer Horror style. The acting and script are not... good, but they really do tell the story effectively. It's like that perfect level of horror acting that wouldn't work in any other movie but is entertaining here. The production on the entity is probably quite financially reserved but very scary. It doesn't appear to use a lot of CGI, just good old fashioned lighting and makeup/costume. This movie has a similar tone to some Stephen King movies like Graveyard Shift, Pet Sematary, and Thinner. I really enjoyed it. I can't really give it more than a 3 out of 5 but it's a strong 3 for me. I picked this because I though it was a Ti West film from the poster on Prime, a total copy of that style. |

Vampire Circus (1972) - 3.5/5
Watch on Prime. I had just watched the movie above and it was like 1am and I needed more. The movie is about an hour and twenty so I gave it a go. I love Hammer Films and I have always avoided this one because the title is so stupid and conjured up ridiculous themes and ideas in my head, well for some reason last night I was like "alright" and clicked play. The story is set in a 19th Century Serbian Village. The Count of the Village has been abducting all of the young girls for months and everyone it too afraid to do anything about it until one man see's his missing wife abducting a little girl and taking her into the Count's Castle. He runs for them but they are behind closed doors before he can get there. This starts a town frenzy with the whole town losing their shit with this dude and going to get their women and little girls back. And yeah, he's totally fucking all of them. There is a pretty uncomfortably long moment you think the vampire is about to put his dick into a young girls mouth but instead he kills her, and then goes to fuck this one dudes wife. And she's hot and 70's hot with the supple boobs and everything. The movie is very sexual and erotic and I was quite surprised by it. The town folk are able to kill the Vampire (so they think) but they are unable to save anyone and the man's wife is pulled from the castle only to run back into the flames to die with her vampire lover (or so we think) and forsake her husband. The Vampire's last words before a stake is in his heart are "I WILL KILL ALL OF YOUR CHILDREN FOR THIS". 15 years later. The town is a shit hole, nobody wants to go there because they think there is some disease, but that's just the vampirisim that took place 15 years ago. Nobody is allowed in or out. But somehow a freak show circus comes into town, and they are fucking awesome. A panther than can change into a handsome Spanish guy, a charismatic dwarf, a strong man and of course a temptress and others. Basically the Count has hibernated until this point to extract his revenge through this Circus, and tries to kill the children of everyone involved with his death 15 years ago. It's a solid horror classic and I'd recommend and say you'd be just as surprised as me. |

Just watched Mid 90's... shitty... just a director masturbating over things he liked from the 90's. oh look there's a bevis and butthead t-shirt, now they're playing a wu tang song. it addressed domestic abuse in a pretty raw way though.
