I mean, circumstances and Vince involvement aside, the only time the "B" show has beaten the "A" show has been when Heyman has had the book. I'm not watching Raw and it's not a sustained run yet, but Heyman did the same thing with SmackDown when he had the book way back in 2002/2003.

YT views are shockingly low for the day after RAW (especially Brock, whose usually at or above 2 million views by now):
Big Show returns - 840k 6-man tag - 812k Lana/Lashley/Rusev - 604k Brock in the Rumble - 470k I can't recall the last time at least one vid had not hit a million views by now |

RAW ended up being down compared to last week but not by much. Also didn't take advantage of the lack of major sports competition last night but did beat their blood rival Love & Hip Hop.
8PM - 2.55 million 9PM - 2.40 million 10PM - 2.19 million Overall - 2.39 million Next week RAW likely is going to get hammered badly since its going up against the College Football title game. |

Say what you want about the quality of WWE, those numbers are pretty impressive for today's day and age. A 2.39 is several time the size of the AEW audience. Heyman is doing the job he was put there to do.

Tuesday's episode of WWE Backstage ended up doing 124k viewers, #145 ranking, and a 0.4 in the key demo.
Last week's episode did 97k viewers, #124 ranking, and a 0.3 in the key demo. Despite having a better demo number than last week, the competition ended up being stronger this week in the 0.6-0.4 range for why they dropped hard in the rankings. |

Is he really though? I don't have the time and/or energy to tune into a 2+ hour show that doesn't matter or won't matter in 3, 6, or 9 months from now.

Well, if he was put there to stabilize the ratings of a shitty three-hour show that isn't going to matter in 3, 6 or 9 months from now, then sure. I can't imagine Vince being anything other than happy with the past two ratings.

Results for last night's AEW and NXT episodes:
AEW got 947k viewers, #6 ranking, and a 0.36 in the key demo ranking. NXT got 712k viewers, #55 ranking, and a 0.19 in the key demo ranking. NXT got a sizeable viewership bump but wouldn't be surprised if the drop in rankings in recent weeks is due to them dropping the ball during the holidays in terms of maintaining momentum and potential burnout starting to show in terms of audience interest for non-TakeOver quality shows since NXT went too hard in that direction and countless title matches for early shows. All the gains NXT made in recent weeks with the key demo group pretty much are gone and AEW starting to regain their big advantage in that group. |

A good number of viewers for both shows, but damn @ NXT demographic tanking, that actually surprises me. |

Outside of a few weeks since the Wednesday Night War stared, NXT pretty much has been carried heavily by WWE's older tv audience which completely goes against Triple H's claims about the brand and the idea of NXT helping build WWE's future audience.
Even NXT's turn around in fortunes in terms of competitiveness was more due to WWE having to give it main show and roster exposure and not because of the brand's own doing. Also the idea of DVR hurting AEW way more in terms of younger viewers based on Meltzer's and others data. NXT probably will top AEW again once the Rumble nears because of the rumors of their involvement with the event but that would just prove once again that NXT needs WWE's main shows for major ratings boosts and interest. |

Haven’t been paying much attention but I remember NXT finally winning the ratings war and people seemed to think the shine had worn off and AEW had officially fallen behind for good. What happened to change that?

NXT had a couple of dry weeks. They technically aired programming, but one was a taped show and another was a year recap sort of thing. AEW virtually went unopposed and they're riding that momentum. When NXT gets back into the swing of things, they'll beat AEW again.

And then the cycle will repeat for every major WWE show with likely exceptions here and there during the year. NXT has the same exact problem as RAW and Smackdown in regards to the viewership being propped up way too much by WWE's older core audience. Until that drastically changes, NXT is going to struggle to maintain any long term momentum against AEW. Meanwhile AEW's biggest problem right now is their audience is still too volatile and swings too much in either direction almost on a weekly basis. That's due to their younger audience not really settling in yet unlike NXT. |

Lol, NXT will turn this around in a few weeks. Good booking and consistency will get them there. They've lost their momentum because they took the time off and did some lazy stuff around Christmas, so people are checking out AEW. NXT had them knocked about like crazy every week except one after they got the main roster rub.

RAW got hammered badly by the College football title game between Clemson and LSU.
Down by around 355k viewers compared to last week, down by around .13 in terms of the key demo (0.74 to 0.61), and down big in terms of rankings from #1-3 to #9, #10, and #13 this week. 8PM - 2,218,000 9PM - 2,059,000 10PM - 1,814,000 Average - 2,030,000 |

Tuesday's episode of WWE Backstage didn't rank in the Top 150 shows according to Showbuzz Daily.
Means the show did less than a 0.4 in the key demo and potentially less than 100k viewers. Last week's episode did 124k viewers, #145 ranking, and a 0.4 in the key demo. |

AEW got 940k viewers, #5 ranking, and a 0.38 in the key demo ranking. NXT got 700k viewers, #31 ranking, and a 0.21 in the key demo ranking. Seems AEW's audience might be starting to settle in since that's the 3rd week in a row its been in the upper 900k and NXT finally managed to get their key demo rating back to the 0.20s since the Christmas week episode. |

As long as the SD demo stays in that green color-coded area consistently I think FOX will be fine w/ things honestly.

Pretty much that and staying within the 2.5 million range for viewers since that was FOX's minimum to stay happy with the crazy amount of money they spent on SD.
FOX likely is going to lose a ton of money from this tv deal due to SD not constantly being in the 1.0 range for the key demo nor in the 3-4 million range for viewers but they gave up on those lofty goals just a couple of weeks into the new deal. |

Fox was airing reruns for the most part on Fridays anyways. We will see if the Road to WrestleMania bumps the ratings a little bit. Fox starting at WWE's weaker story period could have played a role in that.

I'm wondering if their videos just aren't being featured or displayed as much for some reason. I've noticed a lot less visibility from them on both facebook and YT. There has to be some other factor, the drop was way too big and too fast.

Probably people starting to realize why bother watching or getting quickly caught up with what happened on RAW. Also Smackdown arguably did a better job with the Rumble build than RAW despite personally not being that interested in their matches for the show.
Like the Lana/Rusev storyline was only very popular online due to the train wreck quality of the storyline and not something that was actually well written or would entice people to stick around for the long term. Same for RAW's other big storylines lacking that hook to keep people interested after a while. |

In terms of live viewers, ESPN's NBA pre-show might do some damage but only the last 30 minutes of NXT and Dynamite are going head-to-head with the Spurs vs. Pelicans game. NXT's over-run might also suffer but that usually skews a lot more towards older viewers.
AEW and NXT's tape delay on the West Coast likely are going to get hit hard though. Those airings are going up against the bulk of the Pelicans game and any post-show stuff. |
