Speed Racer: 7/10
-Nothing too offensive, and if you can turn your brain off, the ADD the movie has is actually almost cute. I also liked the way it kind of broke out of any kind of time line. There were some good technical ideas in there, even if I thought the kid and monkey were more annoying than cute. The Happening: 6/10 -This really wasn't that bad. I mean, I was going in expecting something shit like The Village or The Lady in the Water or whatever that shit was called, but M. Night actually didn't create something that made me want to kill myself. Actually, that might be all Zooey Deschanel's blessing. The execution was really quite good in parts, with some moments of suspense, but then there were parts that were crappy (I don't understand why Mark Wahlberg's character didn't try talking to the source of the problem more than he did, after he had started putting things together). It was a bit annoying how obvious the message of the movie was, but M. Night Shyamalan seems to be maturing to the point where he doesn't need shitty twists in his movies. If he can now grow a little more in the script department, I might like him as much as I did after Signs. |

Lady in the Water 5/10
I liked this better than the Village because it didn't seem to feel like it had to have a huge twist. I don't agree with M. Night casting himself as The Writer, but whatever. The story was alright, felt like it might have been for a younger audience, but I really liked the characters, especially the critic guy and the dude that lifts weights on only one side of his body. |

Wanted. Saw it last night. Fucking wicked movie. Aside from the Bourne flicks, I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an action flick this much. 9/10.

Day of the Dead (2007) 5/10
This strikes me as an odd movie to remake, sort of like remaking Friday the 13th Part Three and intending it to be a stand alone film. It was okay, but works better as a Romero series. |

WANTED 3.5/5
It was a very fun movie. This is to me the definition of a summer action thrill ride. Bending bullets, fast cars, cool effects a good story and Jolie's ass..what more can a person want? If you get the chance, go see it its worth the $10. |

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
10 out of fucking 10 A lot of people didn't like this movie. It's extremely long, and it is not an action film. It's a modern western drama with some very harsh violence when it actually happens. The cinematography in the movie was some of the best I've seen. Even with as long as it was, I wish I could see the original 4 hour version that was shown at the Sundance festival. Brilliant movie, and Casey Affleck did some of the best acting I've ever seen. Pitt did some of his best in this film too, but Affleck stole every scene he was in. Pitt didn't really say that much, but just how he came across was extremely convincing. One of the most brutal and realistic deaths I've ever seen in a movie too, partially because of the build-up to it. (No it's not a spoiler.. it's in the fucking title) |
