Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome-6/10
Huge tonal and structural shift from the previous films. The beginning plays out fine. Max gets robbed of his pack of camels and supplies, stumbling into barter town, a civilization built to barter and trade goods and ran by auntie, played by Tina Turner. After realizing Tina is the bad guy, Max gets exiled and finds himself among a group of children waiting for a savior to take them to their utopia. The film very much plays like more of an adventure film, with more whimsical gags, far less violence and slower pacing. Didn't notice but found out it as pg13. It was obvious looking back. The movie itself is good. If it wasn't a Mad Max movie with 2 excellent predecessors, I would've liked it more. But for what was the final film in the original series it was a let down outside of the final and only case chase of the film. |

The way they speak in Thunderdome is terrible.
Educate your children folks. |

Lmao I mean I kinda get it. I just didn't care for the tonal shift. It was jarring. Thank god they pivoted back to what works in Fury Road.

I enjoyed the film (and my love, Imogen), but I wasn't wowed by it.

Yeah, Fury Road is as good of a return to form as there’s ever been for a film series.

August: Osage County 7.5/10
The patriarch of the Weston family disappears and turns up dead; the family come together and at the funeral dinner and the subsequent days after secrets are revealed and terrible truths told. A solid family drama. |

Ready or Not - 91%
I loved this movie. What a fun little psychotic romp. Not taken out of the movie at all by the fact that it was clearly filmed in the same mansion they filmed Billy Madison. |

Dave, how far is the airport from the village you're staying in?

Let's see...I have to first seek permission from the village council so that they can sacrifice their first borns in order to collect funds for my flight ticket. Then begins the two day long strenuous trek through the Corbett national park and the Himachal valley. We find sustenance in berries, goat milk, and vindaloo curry which is native to the region. Once the aroma of human feces becomes prominent, that's when you've arrived in the mean "streets" of Bombay. We've been told that roads are coming in 2025. Traffic is a concern as cows often block travelers and aggressive monkeys tend to steal belongings. Once we reach the airport, we present the funds at the counter, and if the representative is not satisfied, we offer one of our village girls for arranged marriage. As you can see the whole process is quite complex and a logistical nightmare. I'd say a good 3-4 days. Unless they're shooting a Bollywood movie, because you're suppose to stop what you're doing and break into coordinated dance sequences as per tradition.

I thought it was pretty good too. Lots of gore but a nice counter balance of dark comedy and slapstick. |

I thought Ready or Not was a really fun, gory time. The co-directors of this are directing Scream 5, which am I looking forward to. |

I gave it a 6/10; there was no ounce of tension and the comedic elements felt forced throughout.

Is that the David O Russell film where Jeremy Davies boinks his mom?
I convinced a local lunatic to watch that once. He was furious. |

Yeah, it has some past Sandler movie character cameos that weren't expected. It also has the gal from Happy Gilmore (the mum in Modern Family).

I think she was at her peak hotness when Modern Family first started.
That episode where she ends up in a hot tub... |
