i think that is the brilliance of the film. all 3 spider-men get a narrative that adds to their canon and rewards audiences of all 3 franchises in big ways.
both of the previous spider-men's audiences didnt get closure for the characters but here we get some long needed catharsis from a story that juggles 3 seperate long term protags and gives them all satisfying arcs and in the case of the 2 dormant ones enriches them in ways that allows the audience to be rewarded for loving them along the way. its really smart and handled with a deftness that sony typically lacks. |

Beyond Skyline and Skylines. I'll give them both round about a 5.5. They are just ok scifi action flicks. Don't know if you remember the movie Skyline from like 2010-11, but these are the sequels to it that I never knew they made. At the very least they take the Skyline story to a conclusion after all these years.

Skyline is an underrated science fiction film, but I got about ten minutes into Beyond Skyline and had to turn it off.
The reverence wasn’t there anymore. |

The back popping scene was also great as an add on to his little back line in the second film. I remember laughing at that bit when the second film came out and I was pleasantly surprised they added a little more to it. Does anybody think Andrew will get another go around in the next venom? |

Spider-Man: No Way Home - 4/4
The imperfections of the opening hour turn into a reason for the beauty of the following hour and a bit. This is one of those films that people dream about, a fan-script come to fruition. It’s fantastic and it feels like a real life comic book. Seeing Toby and Andrew again was so fulfilling in the way that the story played out. This should be called Spider-Man: Fan Service, because it gave me everything I ever wanted from this character all at once. Awesome. Completely awesome. |

See when Andrew Garfield came back, I nearly burst with joy.
He is the unluckiest Spider-Man because he has the most pure connection to emotion of any actor, he radiates sympathetic charm. His only flaw was his age and the movies he was in. He is one of the best actors going. |

Also weird when you think about how few films Toby Maguire has done since Spider-Man

Seriously?
Andrew Garfield is a British national treasure... He’s pretty much the best actor we have. Will you give him another chance, for me? |

Garfield’s emotion is insane. It’s not the only movie he’s done it in but man, did I feel that emotion when he saved MJ. I was really looking forward to watching it with my wife when it comes to streaming but I’m not sure where it will land. The other 2 Sony/MCU movies aren’t on Disney+ (at least not in the UK) and I didn’t want to have to pay for another subscription. Tbf, should probably just get it on Blu Ray as I have everything up to Endgame on disk anyway. Felt a bit pointless getting Black Widow/Shang Chi/Eternals when they’re all on streaming.

That’s not a popular opinion btw, Brits tend to prefer a more stoic actor but for me that lad is a genius. Pure talent.

You’ve got me thinking who my favourite actors are now but I get what you’re saying. I have this thing where I struggle to watch people get emotional without getting emotional myself (think it’s called “empathy”). This had me with “something in my eye” in the same way After Life did.

He has the most emotive face in the world.
He’s a natural born talent who will never win the Best Actor Oscar despite having more quality in him than the material ever will. His agent needs lining up and shooting because he is killing him. |

Nightmare Alley 6.5/10
Gorgeous, with an all-star cast, but my interest started to wane by the 90-minute mark. Perhaps I was not in the mood for it. |

i fully expect him to get a best actor nom out of the film. criticize the film if you want but i highly doubt you come out of it able to criticize him. its his best performance. (and i think the film is good in of itself so whatever)

So I now have to watch him do the impossible...
Ok dude, expect me to actually review it then. I love you as much as I love Andrew Garfield though so I think you are really just making me watch a movie you know I don’t want to watch. You’ve done that before you wee rascal... |

While I’m at it, I didn’t watch “If Beale Street Could Talk” yet and I figured it was an equally beautiful yet unlikely film for me to watch... would that be a good matinee?
I think you can find a great juxtaposition to anything if you want it. There’s also a Paddy Considine film about an Irish family moving to New York and meeting a gay black AIDS man that sometimes pulls my heart strings... Would you like to see my lubed up anus now? |

if you dont like musicals youve obviously got a hurdle but i think the film is more than showtunes (technically it only has 1 showtune in the literal sense its mostly rock ballads.)

Why didn't anyone tell me Tick, Tick, Boom was a musical..... dunno anything about it.... apparently it has to do with the musical Rent.... which I also know nothing about except that time Simpsons did it, but I doubt that song was actually in it for real....

Destor, did you see the new West Side Story? I have never seen any version of it, film or theatre.... but I wanted to see this new one cause the trailers looked cool.... waiting for it to come to the cheap movie theater across the street....

looks like i forgot to rate it in this thread.
the remake fails to justify its existence. my stance would be if youve seen west side story skip it but otherwise this is a perfectly good version to watch. it doesnt do anything new or interesting we havent seen before but it does everything very well. the dance numbers are very well shot and choreographed. all the vocals are as good as they ever have been. theres no knock i have against this version but there's nothing about it that has anything fresh either. in fact when watching it i was confused as to why Spielberg made it at all. he had had nothing to say that hadnt been said. best i can figure he just loved the play and wanted a modern version to exist for his own sake. tl;dr if youve never seen west side watch it. if you just love west side and want to see it again watch it. if you just like west side ok enough pass on it. youve already seen this movie. |
