Yeah I’d expect updates to be primarily cosmetic (wrestlers, arenas, etc). Maybe a few logic/gameplay tweaks here and there and that’s about it.

If they were to add anything beyond that (match types, etc) I would say that would be fairly stunning given the reality of what is happening at Embracer. Assets get reallocated/studios closed and moved to the bigger name IPs all the time.

As someone who is/has been a massive fan of the Tony Hawk series, the THPS 1+2 remake/remaster was fantastic. Immediately sold a million units within a week. Fans of the series gave it overwhelmingly rave reviews. And even after all of that, Activision killed the 3+4 remake by folding Vicarious Visions and moving them over to work on Diablo.

So yeah there’s no way a niche game like this is gonna get much in the way of support. The folks who act like this is gonna feel like a brand new game in a year are gonna be in for a rough time.

Initially they were talking like this was going to be an ongoing support game, hence the title "Forever," but there's just no chance of that happening at this point. Im hopeful theyll focus 90 days or so of patches and focus on collision detection first and foremost but we'll see.

Jade Cargill’s social media conduct seems to suggest that she is disenchanted with wrestling and might be looking to move on. Could be nothing, but she certainly doesn’t seem rah-rah about making an AEW return.

At the very least, the community manager has made themselves present on reddit and is keeping people updated on what they're working on. That being, stabilization of the ps4 version at the moment.

I could see it going either way with Cargill. Wouldn't be surprised if she wanted to move on from wrestling, but we also live in an age of social media angles. To which I'd say that IF it were an angle, it actually kinda works.

First off, it'd be totally in character for her to not be in a rush to return after finally taking a loss and losing her streak.

But the bigger thing is for a "I'm not coming back" social media tease to actually work, it has to be believable. Most people who tease this you know they're full of shit because you can't envision them outside of the wrestling bubble. Not the case with Jade Cargill. Someone who looks like her should absolutely try to go Hollywood.

I’m a bit burnt out on the “the company I work for sucks and I want out” stories. It doesn’t make anyone look good. Jade has that super-athlete “pay me, pay me, pay me” thing about her, but it doesn’t do them many favors for this to be worked. It’d be better if losing the TBS Title made Jade more humble and she teased a face turn to go against some of the assholes on the roster, tbh.

She could just be firing off at the gums following whatever synapses are shooting at the time. She strikes me as being of “that generation” that really doesn’t understand how you can be unprofessional over social media. But she could also just be like “been here, done it” about the whole thing.

Jade could absolutely have Hollywood potential. It's not like she was some 5 star bball recruit that went to Tennessee, UConn, etc. Now look at her. Apples to oranges to cranberries but you get the gist.

All of this leaves me with a "wait and see" approach, because, while people do use social media in attempts at kayfabe, some use it as exactly the opposite more often. Sometimes, the same people will use their shit for a total work, then turn around and say some things that completely countermands what they even do for a living. Cargill doesn't exactly have a long, trackable history of doing either.

Side tangent: I personally think the Jungle Boy heel turn was less of a plan in motion, and more a result of him being a shithead at meet & greets and such and someone suggesting he just roll with it. I think the two things were about as unrelated as the time Austin Aries walked out of TNA and people thought it was the start of some "anti-establishment" angle. Nope. He was literally just being a dick and really ditched them. And JB was like "You know what, [person suggesting]? That's a good idea. I get to do less meet & greets if the fans don't want to see me!"

Back to "Jane".

That is a decent point of Jade being essentially a nobody of a tier lower than most WNBA stars you couldn't name before this whole thing started, and now, within the timeframe of a presidency term, she's a global fitness postergirl even if she never takes another bump. She could have done all this in the vein of the clout chasers WWE were hot to get with their whole "all we want are young people without wrestling backgrounds anymore" mandate they were doing and possibly still has in place of some form.

Could be a work, could be a shoot. She might actually have "the bug" for the business, or she used her time in AEW the same way folks parlay reality show fame. She could be acting like MJF with the strictest of kayfabery, or giving the entire game away like Ronda Rousey tends to do.

I'll wait and see with her.

If its not an designed angle... she should quit. Because she sucks.

That's a bit unfair, given that the "big angles" she seemed to be set for were Thunder Rosa when she got mysteriously chased off/potentially jumped depending on where that story was recounted, and one of the times Kris Statlander got hurt. Didn't really seem to be anything going on once Cody and Brandi departed. There wasn't any real contingency, and Jade seemed she existed as an island unto herself away from most of the other women's talent, such as they were. Not the time to litigate how good they were or weren't... but it wasn't like she was matching up with Riho or Britt Baker on the regular. They fed her mostly job girls who were never seen before or since and didn't seem to have any real "plans" for her otherwise.

I still say "wait and see". Even literally being Girl-berg (as in, being an uninitiated rookie with minimal wrestling training given the same push that Goldberg was as an uninitiated rookie with minimal wrestling training), it's not like she's that unmitigated disaster WWE tried to push, fired, and then rehired and tried to push again in the uncoordinated mess that was "All Red Everything" Eva fucking Marie. There's enough incompetence in AEW that this could be an angle or they legit still have no real plans and will allow her to walk. Either way, her stock is up from when she started.
I again say "wait and see".

I just don't see the allure of her as a wrestler. Like sure, muscular and fit. But after being 60-0 in the ring, I would expect her to be an elite level talent, not botching some of the moves that basic rookies can do.

She’s still pretty damn green. 4 years experience and the last 3 plus of that has been on national TV and ppv well before she was ready. I certainly see the potential in her and think there’s more there. She doesn’t need to be an in ring savant to succeed. She’s mostly look, presence and presentation, like Britt Baker.

What she hasn’t really had in direction and good storylines to work with. She’s been mostly fed jobbers of the week. She had a pretty good match with Tay Conti last year. But I think she needs more time thinking she getting matches in off TV and given real direction when she gets back.

Your second paragraph answers your first. The very best in the industry say how working with people better than them helped them elevate their game. Jade has been put with jobbers mostly her entire career. They’re jobbers for a reason. Even a Tay Conti is just about passable in the ring. I know it’s slim pickings for great female talent on the AEW side of things but there are girls there she could have worked with, or get a veteran to work with her 1-on-1. What’s Finlay up to nowadays?

  • High-risk dives or top rope moves (450, 630, double moonsaults, SSP, etc.)
  • Intentional bleeding (of any sort, not just blading)
  • Throwing people into/through/over ring steps, commentary table, bell table, or guardrails/barricades Weapon usage:
  • Chairs, pipes, kendo sticks, hammers, ring bells, bats, chains, etc. Title belts
  • Thumbtacks, skewers, barbed wire, and other sharp/puncturing objects o Powders, aerosol sprays, or liquids
  • Throwing any weapons or objects- chairs, etc.
  • Choking/strangling with hands or a weapon or hanging spots
  • Injury spots or angles, whether or not medical is involved/called to the ring
  • Any physicality in the crowd or crowd brawling
  • Any physicality involving referees, managers, extras, celebrities, or special guests"
