It was entertaining. Didn't blow away my mind or anything. Definitely not as bad as the reviews suggest.

Woody Harrelson was robbed of an Oscar on that one. I love Sam Rockwell but Woody was incredible there.

The documentary took some of the shine off of the wonderful film for me. Jim Carrey not popular amongst cast and crew…

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 - 3 and 1/4 stars out of 4
If this is, indeed, the last ride of the Guardians (at least this incarnation of them) they certainly go out with a bang instead of a whimper. Take everything you might love about these characters and the previous two films and crank it all up about 5 or so more notches and you'll get this movie. Balancing the humor and drama is no small feat, especially with all of these characters and threads that need juggling. The film goes heavier than what we're used to, but it knows when to pull it back and let in some light-heartedness. I appreciate the villain not being some misunderstood tragic entity, as he leans more into someone who's bought into himself way too much and can't let go of the idea that his goal NEEDS to be accomplished. I actually feel kind of bad that he's stuck in here and not more of a major threat to the MCU as a whole in the same fashion as Thanos or Kang or Infinity Ultron. Two other positives to mention are the arcs that come to a satisfying conclusion for some of the characters and the action is probably the best in any of the 3 films, most notably a fucking awesome hallway sequence near the climax that is just pure fun. To speak to the former, a lot of the enjoyment you're going to get from the story depends on how much you love Rocket, because it really is his story more than any of the other characters. Overall, this film might be the thing to get Phase 5 in people's good graces after the rough start that was Quantumania. There really aren't any big twists or seeds that signal where we're going next. This is more about wrapping up journeys and giving us a proper send-off, despite what the two post-credits scenes depict. If you liked the first two films, I doubt you'd find much to hate here. |

Beau Is Afraid (2023) - 9/10
loved it... entire movie is relentlessly nightmarish... maybe too long (3 hours) but didn't feel that long... first hour 10/10 amazing to me, then the pace slows. Heard like 3 separate people say "I hated it" when walking out of the theater afterwards... def can see lots of ppl not liking it |

Two big reviews in a row… I have been waiting for both films to come out. Triple A do you think I will love it or hate it? Remember I did like Hereditary and the incest rape film he made. So…

Going to watch "X" tonight. What an interesting cast. Martin Henderson is a name I haven't heard in a while. I remember Mia Goth from the Nymphomaniac series and Kid Cudi lol

There's Something Wrong with the Children (2023) - 6/10
Felt like a Jordan Peele movie. Had the QB from Friday Night Lights and the girl from Silicon Valley. I would watch it again. |

Watched the hit movie "There's Something About Mary" for the first time since that one time I saw it in the 90s. Enjoyed it, but there are obviously bits that "don't hold up". I actually feel like the "concept" has a lot of potential for a remake, but removing a lot of the more "problematic" elements. Though I guess in today's modern world it wouldn't just be the mentally challenged/handicap jokes that would be no bueno, but even the concept of a bunch of dudes lying to and tricking a braud into loving them would get "backlash". So I guess it will never get a remake/refresh.

Judi Dench made me cry at the end. I don't know what I was expecting from this film but I'm glad I watched it.

Trying to watch the second Shazam movie and there's zero cohesion between the kid portraying Billy and Levi. It's like they're two different people.

They had that problem in the first one too. They tried to solve it in the second by giving Billy very little screen time compared to the first.

Probably because the actor who played Billy went through a major growth spurt and so this time didn't just act more mature but looked it too. Another reason why they minimized his screen time.

Always gonna be the problem with doing a live action Shazam. Kid playing Billy is gonna grow and undermine the premise of kid turning into full grown adult.
