I wonder if they could do a single character sandbox game about World War 2. It would be unorthodox but I think it could be done.
Wouldn't be suprised to see something set in Medieval times, or a pirate world. |

What we really need is a caveman sandbox game. Hunt dinosaurs, be hunted by dinosaurs, tribal warfare, discovering fire, the wheel and other inventions etc as you expand your tribe threw good health (plenty of food, water, warmth, safety etc) and mating. Meanwhile merging, enslaving or wiping out other tribes.
Imagine RDR, Populous and Monster Hunter all rolled into one. Fighting a T-Rex with just your spear and a couple of AI tribesman where you have to scale the Rex "Shadow of the Collosus" style and take him down to provide meat for the tribe and reduce the threat of attack by T-Rexs' to the tribe. I could go into so much more detail because I have a bunch of ideas but you get the point. Throw out "minor" details like humans never actually lived in caves or when dinosaurs were about and you could have a pretty awesome game. Lionhead had plans for a caveman game called B.C. but scrapped it. |

Since Rockstar hit the home run with RDR and brought out pretty much what I wanted out of it, this would be AMAZING under Rockstar development. |

Only a day after CoD Black Ops gets released Activision is already spilling the beans on what the next future Call of Duty game might be about. Since Activision is now on a 3 studio rotation for the series, its either going to be from Sledgehammer Games or another studio they own.
Plan is for the game to take place farther in the future than Modern Warfare series into the sci-fi/space warfare range. Won't go as far as Halo in the future but at the same time might not be a pure FPS. Activision wants the series to branch out into the Action-Adventure genre with the new game. http://kotaku.com/5685668/report-cal...-space-marines |

No but it should arrive in 2 years since its now unknown studio, then IW, and then Treyarch for Call of Duty series rotation or at least Activision's plan for the series.

K2Networks has purchased defucnt MMO All Points Bulletin. Interesting move by them, APB was a game with a good concept behind it but unfortunately the game itself was... well for lack of a better word crap. Balance issues, performance issues, gameplay issues it seemed rushed and with the exception of the customisation needed a hell of a lot of work. Not really sure what K2 can do with it but there might be life in it yet. Edit: http://www.pwgaming.co.uk/?p=1340 Harmonix has also been put up for sale by Viacom. Apparently some companies think Valve and Steam are killing the PC market mostly because of how efficient and good Steam is. Some retailers and Digital Distributors in the U.K. are already telling some gaming publishers they will refuse to carry games that require Steam or be playable on the service (ex. Steamworks).
This was one of the actual reasons given to why they hate Steam: Quote:

Wait what? I don't understand. So because Steam is good to their customers, other companies won't sell their game discs? Huh?
Someone help me here, I think this is actually breaking my brain. |

Ok, the article itself is clearer, but it's common sense. If you want to sell better than Steam,be better than Steam.
As for the brick and mortar guys, it makes sense in a way, but some people (like me) prefer to actually have physical media. Thus when the option arises to buy digital or physical, I opt for physical. |

I dunno. Steam is gonna end up being a monopoly, but not by underhanded tactics. They just do really good at what they do. It's kinda scary, because that's how google got so big too.

If they're good, they're good. Instead of bitching, as people have already pointed out, perhaps competitors should cowboy the fuck up and provide better service. It's not like Steam's crooked and a public option is needed for the people.

Its similar to what iTunes did for the music industry when it was in a slump and Napstar was dominating downloads. Apple changed the idea of buying music to buying songs cheap and it ended up helping the music industry. Years later the music industry started to hate iTunes dominance and Sony tried to create an alliance to take out iTunes and increase music prices per song.
Valve did something similar in helping the PC market when a lot of developers and publishers moved to consoles. Over time, Valve improved Steam and managed to prove the PC market can be strong enough to survive. Now since the model worked out very well, their competitors want to knock out Steam even if it means weakening the PC market again. |

After 5 years of the $60 price tag being the new price for "HD" games, THQ realized maybe it isn't such a good idea to make every game cost $60.
After having a bad year, THQ noticed most of their sales came when their games were $40 or less (ex. Red Faction) with only their best games getting good sales at $60 (ex. UFC 2009). THQ's problem is every game they make, they assume its a AAA-quality game so they charge $60 regardless if they didn't spend much to make or made no effort for quality. Before they just blamed the Wii or handhelds for lack of sales but this year their "HD" systems are loosing sales as well. Now THQ thinks $40 might be the real sweet spot but also said they can easily make up the $20 "loss" on DLC without having to change their thinking on making games. http://kotaku.com/5688119/a-publishe...games-any-more |

Developers of Angry Birds planning to release the game on Xbox Live Arcade and Wiiware but haven't decided on a release date. They also plan to release the game on PSN and the handhelds at a future date but for now XBLA and Wiiware is getting the game first.
Also announced was no sequel is being developed although they hinted the next game might take on the role of being the Pig in the current game. http://kotaku.com/5688964/angry-bird...e-wii-releases --------------------------------------------------------- In other news, Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's manual is only 1 page long since the rest of the manual is inside the game itself and also assumes you owned previous Assassin's Creed games. It is very similar to EA Sports manuals that are short but assume you've played previous games in the series. |

Blizzard rumored to be bringing Diablo III to Xbox 360 and PS3 based on rumors of them starting to hire more console-specific programmers and staff. PC and Mac versions still expected to be released first.
Currently the game is being developed for the PC and Mac but Blizzard has ported their RPG games to consoles before in the past although nothing since the PS1/N64 days. It is expected that Blizzard will either use the PC version and downgrade the game on consoles to make it work or less likely "water-down" the PC version to make all versions as identical as possible. http://kotaku.com/5690583/blizzard-s...le-development |

I'm guessing because it had the word "erection" in it. Although, technically, the erection you were dispensening could have been a statue or monument.
The motto is only rude if the person reading it has such a mind. It's not like it said "Dispensing a RAGING boner". |
