Suddenly have the urge to play Sims 3 on PC. Did a test and my pc just falls short of the requirements. The website that tests the pc came back with all this stuff I don't even understand. My pc failed in just two areas.
RAM Minimum: (XP) 1 GB RAM; (Vista/7) 1.5 GB RAM [If built-in graphics then add 0.5 GB additional RAM] You Have: 895.2 MB Video Card Minimum: 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 (NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 or above / ATI Radeon 9500 or above / Intel GMA 3-series or above) You Have: GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a Features: Minimum attributes of your Video Card ------- -------------Required-- --You Have Video RAM:-----------128 MB---- 512.0 MB 3D:--------------------Yes---------Yes Pixel Shader version:----2.0---------3.0 Now I understand the RAM issue and how to fix it but I don't understand how my video card can be insufficiant when it has more RAM tham required, has 3D and has a higher version of Pixel Shader. I must be missing something here. Can anyone let me know? It says I can run Spore without any issues but Im put off by the things I've read about Spore installing monitoring software on your PC. Is that true or false? |

Yeah, I looked it up and I think that's what I meant. Not sure why I read it was a monitoring software. It's actually some kind of rootkit.

Is the graphics card on-board, as in not seperate? I'm guessing it is judging by the amount of RAM you have (as the video card will be hogging some).
I'm guessing your video card fails in terms of model number, as on-board cards can be clocked a lot slower than dedicated ones. |

I like The Sims as I am a massive sociopath and enjoy killing members of a family in pools of their own urine after breaking up said family by sleeping with everyone in the neighbourhood.

The Sims is for girls, faggots, and fat nerds that don't know happiness.

Playing a game that simulates you being a god or having complete control over peoples lives doesn't seem girly to me.
Running around in muddy arenas full of sweating macho musclemen with large over compensatory weaponery on the other hand, sounds like something a girl would enjoy or maybe a gay man. Gears of War being the biggest example. Plunging your red hot "chainsaw gun" into another mans sweaty, quivering body doesn't exactly gain it any hetero points either. No idea if you play GoW at all but just saying Sims games are no where near the gayest games in the mainstream. |

No, sims is gay. I don't play Gears of War, but Sims is gay and lame. "I'm going to pretend I have friends and a family, then I'm going to just make them fat and die." That is what girls do. Men go out and kill things face to face with a chain saw gun.

I'll agree overly macho games are for 13 year old boys "who don't grasp the difference between being a real man and being a macho meat head" and closet fags. But Sims is still gay. I play Red Dead and Monday Night Combat.

Activision willing to get rid of Bizzare Creations after owning them for 3 years. Lack of sales and reception to both Blur and James Bond: Blood Stone made made Activision want to drop the studio.
Before the move to Activision, the studio was responsible for Geometry Wars and Project Gotham Racing series on both the Xbox and Xbox 360. Activision's current plan is to sell the studio but if no buyers appear, they are willing to shut the studio down for good. http://kotaku.com/5691455/bizarre-de...may-get-closed |

Its pretty good actually. The D pad is very passable for fighting games. My gf had a habit of knocking my controller off the couch, so both of my old controllers RB's went to shit.
So i figured why not. That, and Amazon is selling it for $51, plus i had $20 credit with them. |

Just finished my file of Final Fantasy 9 that I started maybe a year ago where I got everybody up to level 99 and did pretty much everything. I ended up getting almost exactly 100 hours total.

I happen to like Blur. Another victim of the "_____-Killer" type marketing. You just don't do that.

I played the demo. Seemed like a decent game, but it's not better than the game it claimed to be better than. It's not mind blowing, but I'd bargain bin it. Seems like Activision killed off what made them great by making them do things outside of the way they do things. I'm sure if BC were left to their own devices they'd have more interesting shit to offer.

Not really just the marketings faut, it wasn't bad but it sure as hell wasn't good either.
Also the timescales wouldn't have helped. Think Blur was the first game they released on time, every PGR and MSR were delayed. |

Blur was feature rich and more strategic than Mario Kart. It actually played closer to Diddy Kong Racing, which I personally preferred to Mario Kart... so it was my cup of tea right off the bat. I also find the online community pleasant compared to the Reach and CoD fraternities. Overall I think it was well made, hearkened back to good times.
Bad marketing, I say again, because most complaints I heard referenced the anti-Mario Kart promotion. |

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, that marketing played a part, I just feel it wasn't the only reason for it failing.
And most small communities online seem much more pleasant if there's no guns involved. |

To be fair, he did try to come up with a way to have all future Activision games be on an online subscription or pay-to-play model regardless of consoles. It wouldn't have been as bad as the online pass since he wasn't as upset over used sales as EA and THQ were.
Only reason it didn't occur was due to every studio Activision owning being against the idea. |

Frankly, Rock Band, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Burnout Paradise have it right. Support your fucking games. Keep that DLC coming until you've got the next game out.
Oblivion and Fallout 3 have plenty of DLC supporting the games and keeping them interesting after the initial sales window closes. Then long after the games have come out but far before the next one hits, you get the game of the year edition with the DLC included. That is a friendly way to combat the used market. Rock Band (meaning the series here) and Burnout Paradise are prime examples of how you treat the consumer: "Thanks for buying Rock Band 2, here's 20 free songs." "Oh, changing discs sucks? No prob, Bob. We can't make it free, but here now all your RB1 songs are in RB2. Don't worry we'll keep it cheap" "So glad you like all our DLC you spent money on, here now it carries over to the next game" "Glad you like our cars. Oh, btw, here are bikes FOR FREE" "Not enough? Here's some massive tweaks and a free car pack from time to time mixed in with these paid DLC additions" Yeah, and don't get at me with the expensive horse armour or the paid local multiplayer. Local MP was never intended for this shit, considering how much they poured into online. And it's fucking horse armour. You don't need it, so don't lose sleep over it. |

Gamestop leaks out plan by Sega to release a compilation disc of Dreamcast games. Its expected to include the games released on XBLA and PSN with a potential for a few unreleased others.
The article and picture is mostly about the collection coming to the Xbox 360 but other places have confirmed it also planned for PS3. Expected price is about $29.99 and a Feb. 15, 2011 release date. http://kotaku.com/5692792/theres-a-d...-says-gamestop Last edited by Emperor Smeat; 11-17-2010 at 10:06 PM. Reason: suck at spelling |

id Software or more specifically John Carmack (Doom series creator) wants to create a game for Kinect but also hints it might be better as an XBLA type and a non-shooter.
Ideally, they would develop the game similar to how they develop games for the iOS platform instead of being a full-blown Xbox 360 or PS3 game. Quote:

Just turned on my 77 hour file of Pokemon Red that I hadn't played in a while, probably 75% of those hours were spent in the Safari Zone trying to catch Tauros. Anyway I beat the Elite Four just now, not sure if it was first time in this file mates

Gran Turismo 5 optional install range anywhere between 256 MB and a few minutes for the basic installation to around 10 GB and 50 minutes for a full install.
The benefits for the 10 GB install is mostly to speed up waiting for an online race and quicker loading screens. Both benefits can be negated if other racers in a track don't install before racing online since the installation is not mandatory. More space is needed due to the game installing/unzipping itself while you play since the initial install only uses up 6GB and then does the rest while playing. http://kotaku.com/5694720/gt5-instal...-hour-to-spare |
