The interview was somewhat vague since it is almost like he hints its possible in the future for EA to drop single player from games especially after their sports games gained a ton of money from DLC and online purchases ($45 million alone from FIFA 09 & 10 in DLC, Madden 10 or 11 had 35 people spend $1000 each on stats cards).
It was also odd for him to even mention it as a possibility based on the studios they owned and the games they make but since he mentioned how all the bosses had a meeting and discussed it, EA must have been considering it as a possible plan for him to leak it. It is similar to Activision saying how its possible to charge a subscription for their games but it hasn't gotten past the idea phase. If anything EA will probably test the idea with a game and if the consumers hate it, they'll forget the idea even existed. |

I doubt Microsoft wouldn't hesitate to take them back, given their track record.

Looks just like the Ghost Squad gun in Dave & Busters arcade area but $40 for a plastic shell seems too high when the shells on the Wii range anywhere from $9.99 to $19.99.
I think Sony made fun of Nintendo and the Wii for having useless accessories and now Move is suddenly starting to flood with the same type of accessories. |

A video of the next James Bond game (the stealth one) leaked out earlier. I was too late and it's been taken down by Activision which I guess is enough proof that it was genuine.
If anyone knows where to see the video, post it or a link to it. The stealth parts have been compared to Splitter Cell by some people at Kotaku and to MGS by others. |

Video shown after the brief intro but no textures or anything graphical added since they only showed off the animation of the stealth. |

In LOL-worthy news, EA's online store accidentally gave away stuff about Mass Effect 3 that was meant to be debuted on Spike's VGA show this weekend.
Similar to the Halo series, ME 3 will have Earth be the main setting of the game since the enemies of the series managed to find and attack Earth. The rumor of a Mass Effect multiplayer spin-off game to arrive somewhere in 2011 was confirmed to be fake and that the teaser video shown is actually part of the Mass Effect 3 debut video. PC version pricing also leaked at being $59.95 on EA Store and $59.99 everywhere else. http://kotaku.com/5711606/mass-effec...ttle-for-earth -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In unrelated news, Nintendo reveals parts of the story to Super Mario Bros that people might have missed or never knew in the collectible book included with the anniversary edition of Super Mario All-stars. The blocks Mario always smashes are actually Toads turned by Koopa magic, Goombas are corrupted toads, and the Piranha Plants are actually corrupted fire flower plants. Also, Peach at any time could have reversed the magic but felt like having others do it for her. |

New SSX announced:
Another "dark and gritty" take on something that doesn't need to be "dark and gritty". I wish they would just stop this crap already. I loved SSX Tricky btw. They should have gone back to the OTT style of that game or one of the others. Until CoD and such like die (which isn't for a very long time) all these other franchises and series are going to go all "dark and gritty" one by one to try and get a similar fan base and sales figures. Pretty soon games will be as varied and as colourful as a pair of identicle twin emos. |

I just don't understand why anyone would take a series that looked like this:
Which was successful enough for multiple sequels and suddenly think going in the completely opposite direction would be a good idea. I can understand wanting to "reinvent" the series but if they wanted to do that, they could have picked something closer to the original games. Anime style or Jet Set Radio graffiti style. Anything with a bright, light hearted look but not the dark and dull "gritty action" look. It doesn't fit or make sense for SSX. |

We're in a dull, depressing generation.
I 100% agree with you, though. Loved Tricky and SSX3. Have both for PS2 (Tricky was my first PS2 game). The game should be up-beat and bright. They could throw in a few "serious"/"gritty" portions, maybe in a career and a few tracks or something, but if the game's overtone is all doom and gloom I'm not sure how I'll feel about it. But we don't know if that was just a trailer to make it look "cool" and "modern". Could be one character's introduction and others will have different personalities (wacky, colorful, etc). Which, if that's the case, it'll be fine. |

Actually, if the game's subtitle of "Deadly Decent" sticks my previous post is moot and it'll be all doom and gloom. Fuck.
But it could go either way with that. Again, could just be a preliminary trailer for a character. |

Can't wait until Madden comes out with a Storyline mode in which you're a thug coming up from the streets and the majority of it is playing football on the street in between street fighting Streets of Rage style.

I dunno, I'm kinda liking the whole dark and gloomy idea. The whole premise of trying to descend all these dangerous mountains seems pretty cool to me. I will be keeping an eye out for this

To be fair, it's cool that they're doing something different. And who knows, it MIGHT be good and it MIGHT be successful. I loved the colorful stuff so much, but if the gameplay is FUN and not an all-out sim, it has potential.
Almost thinking it could be a combination of SSX and Road Rash now, which would be pretty cool, especially with weapons. |

But it's not SSX. They could/should remove the SSX from the title and just call it Deadly Decent because it has no resemblence to the old games in any way.
Then they can go and send another team off to make an actual SSX game. |

Maybe that is why it appeals to me so much, because I have never played a SSX game. So I wouldn't have any problems with whatever brand name they slap on it.
