Crystal Dynamics releasing a Tomb Raider trilogy collection for just the PS3 but its not like other remakes or classics done so far on the PS3.
The games being picked for the collection are not from the original PS1 era or the 1st reboot of the franchise but from the 3rd set of games in the series (2nd reboot/retelling). The games included are Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Tomb Raider Underworld. Extras for the collection include trophy support and avatars for PS Home. Also announce for a March 22 release date but no price given. Only reason no collection is coming to the Xbox 360 or Wii (didn't get Legend) is due to those consoles already have the games in the series while the PS3 only received Underworld. http://kotaku.com/5715035/ps3-gettin...rilogy-in-2011 |

How a game plays is classically referred to as the 'engine' of the game. These days engine refers to development tools like the Cry Engine, Unreal Engine, or MT Framework. Old fogeys like me still use engine as a term for gameplay, though.

Then say gameplay, I won't fault you for that. But saying engine, especially since there are a shit ton that just buy an engine to build a game off of (I'm well aware of the Unreal and Cry engines being used in games).

I will use up-to-date terminology on these boards from now on. I forget the lingo isn't standard across the board.

No one praises games based on their engines. I am on quiet a few game boards, and not once have I heard "I like the engine" or "the engine is shit." It is always game play is good, controls are clunky, stuff like that.

I could just as easily say I heard engine used as a term for gameplay since forever, but we roll in different circles, yo. |

Yeah, I thought engine referred exclusively to the text behind a game. Like the Unreal
Engine ranges from Turd (FFXIII) to awesome (Gears of War). |

Epic Games is doing a special promotion for Gears of War 3 where if you've bought and played previous games released by Epic on the Xbox 360, special goodies and content gets unlocked as a gift for Gears of War 3.

http://kotaku.com/5715477/gears-of-w...ious-epic-fans ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- In other news, another remake/HD-enhanced collection is arriving to the PS3 next year from Ubisoft and this time its from the Splinter Cell series. The original trilogy is being ported with extras including trophy support and HD-graphics. This collection will be based off of the PS2/Gamecube set of games and not the Xbox/PC set. |

So I wasn't the only one that was like "WTF." I mean even with a car or truck or something, you probably wouldn't say you like the car because of the engine, but because of the pick up, or that it can go from 0 to 60 in 5 seconds or what ever a good time is, especially since they dump the same engines in a Ford Ranger as they do with the Ford Escape and the van of the same size, don't know what it is called.

You will also have companies utilising different Middleware/Engines for different sections of their games too, pretty sure you've all seen Havoc Physics advertised in games or RAD Sound Tools. The engines are pretty modular in how they work. A bad engine can result in what should be a good game perhaps not performing as it should. As much as I love it, Fallout 3 suffers a bit from this for some people because it uses the Engine Bethesda used for Oblivion still. |

Lei Fie is my main and I was starting to remember some of his combos near the end there. Not really a combo as much as is pressing back and lb twice. Also couldn't figure out how to get into his stance to do that lunging punch. Love spamming that. And then I started to learn the druken guy near then end before I stopped playing this but didn't remember any of his combos.
