Meltzer on how the new TNA contracts work:

Quote:
The way the new contracts work, is that they guys will get a regular paycheck every two weeks, as opposed too being paid at shows or based on dates. There are no bonuses for working dates. If outside promoters want to book talent, TNA will assign the talent to their shows and the promoters would pay TNA for their services. The talent doesn’t get money from doing those shows, as the guarantee is also based on TNA having the ability to exclusively book the talent wherever it wants outside of TNA. So, that puts the contracts in a different light if you think about it. If TNA can sign someone for $100,000 per year, and then book them two dates per week at $750 per shot, with a few weekends off here and there, that can be close to $75,000 a year of income coming in. If they can get $1,000 per shot for them, they’ll make virtually the entire contract back. So the key to making these new deals work from a TNA standpoint is for their TV to get the contracted guys over enough a stars to where indie promoters will have a demand for them. TNA has historically not been very good at that

I think that's actually a decent deal for TNA talent. They don't have to worry about possibly being stiffed by unknown promoters. The only way this really fucks them is if they reach the point where working indy shows every weekend would have exceeded the income they would have made at TNA, but the way this is structured it doesn't sound like that's the case.

TNA basically need to pimp out their talent.

The way I understood reading that is that their contract with TNA means that TNA decides which shows they work and when. It is part of their TNA contract to do those shows.

TNA better be offering good money, because why else would a guy who can pull 1000 a pop from indie shows agree to have that included in his contract. Only if their guarantee from TNA is high.

It COULD end up with TNA asking wrestlers to do too many shows to make up their contracts.

You fucking muties don't seem to understand how contracts and pay work.

Tna used to pay guys X money to do their tna work, and it wasnt as much for most guys as you would think, since it was only so many dates. They were allowed to do Indy dates without tna having any say in it and make hat they want.

Now Tna is signing the same guys to larger, exclusive deals. They can control when and where their talent appear, to give them control over their creative. Now instead of having to book their own Indy dates the front office does it for them, and the Indy pays tna.

So tna can now lock down their talent to more exclusive and lucrative deals while offsetting some costs. And the wrestlers have a guaranteed pay day every two weeks from tna for probably as much as they were making, without having to hustle the Indy scene for bookings.

If no one books, oh let's say manik if he still exists, h still gets his full pay regardless of if he works. Sure he loses a bit of control but the stability is worth it.

This is very common from big names on the territory days.

Andre was always paid by Vince Sr. And Vince would send him to wccw, awa, rocket etc and be paid for giving them Andre.

This makes sense for tna since they can't normally pay big money since they aren't touring no have limited dates. Vince could own Andre then without having to pay him for all th dates he worked.

You realize these guys don't have to sign these contracts right? It's not like tna is robbing them or doing anything wrong.

They are going to work the same amount they would have anyways, maybe more, for pay they agree to.

Smile

AJ Styles as good as said he'd go to the highest bidder, wrestling the Tokyo Dome was big enough for him and fair play to him.

From what's been said, ROH and NJPW offered him 6 figures in a joint deal and WWE outbid them which is fucking impressive for someone who's never been in WWE before. Best thing for him is if he doesn't give that much of a shit of being at the very top of WWE, he'll probably be worth even more to ROH/NJPW after a WWE run if WWE aren't interested in keeping him for big money.

Don't think TNA got to the point of offering money despite what they say.

Just watched the decay debut, awful.

Besides the fact that it's the 10th time they have tried a goth stable, they dropped the ball.

Girl has a good look. The music was great. But that was probably the worst promo I have ever seen. Made no sense, sounded like shit.

Then randomly crazy Steve walks out as a joker rip off...but that is the worst name in the world. Then abyss comes out with his own tune with no explanation.

Stupid names, great theme. Poor promo

I can't help but think that WWE will be AJ's last stop before retiring, or at the very least before he totally scales himself back to a part time capacity in wherever he goes after that. He turns 39 in June and has been wrestling for nearly 2 decades, most of which with a really high octane style. Now he'll spend a few years doing WWE's really rigorous travel schedule. Tough to look past that.

Spoiler tag used since its related to a big rumored post-Mania plan for NXT.
SPOILER: show
Quote:
In what can be considered a major news story because of the timing of everything, Samoa Joe is currently earmarked to start on the main roster after WrestleMania, perhaps as soon as the Raw on the next day. I was told right now the debut is earmarked for Dallas the day after, but that depends on creative and it may be delayed, but the wheels are in motion for it to happen. If Joe beats Sami Zayn and gets the title shot at Takeover in a match that was to be taped on 1/27, then there is talk he’ll beat Balor for the title and they’ll lengthen the program, meaning that would delay his main roster move. If that happens, that would also indicate a Zayn move as there has been consideration to him starting after Mania with a ready-made Owens program. What makes this significant is that when Joe was first signed, it was to be as NXT talent with a contract that would allow him to continue to do indies, similar to that of Tommy Dreamer and Rhino, as an example. Now, there were pitches from the start to bring him up but that didn’t happen. He was to be a credible star that could headline NXT shows against the NXT top stars and help the brand draw hardcore fans on the road. But his performance was impressive enough that he’s being taken from the brand and getting a main roster spot. Balor, who many expected to also debut after Mania, at least for right now, that doesn’t look to be the case as they are still looking at him to be the flagship singles star of the NXT brand past March

As of today, the feeling is that he will likely remain on television in storylines but won't be working matches, similar to the role Wade Barrett has been doing in the League of Nations in recent weeks ...

We are also awaiting confirmation on another upper level WWE wrestler that might be hurt.

That would at least help the crowd have the “right” reaction because Vince usually can turn a crowd at will ... In this case, the idea of Reigns standing there at the end celebrating with one of the biggest movie stars (and possibly that and the country’s most talked about female athlete celebrity) is a pretty strong moment for those watching. It’s the strongest possible scenario for the finish to get media play and Reigns to get the rub like the one Hulk Hogan got with Cyndi Lauper and Mr. T in his mainstream ascension.
Observer speculating on the best possible plan to use The Rock if he really isn't wrestling at Mania.

"This is how much of a hot head I am. We were going to do this Feast or Fired thing, and me and Cody Deaner were supposed to come down with the briefcase at the same time for a tie. The following episode of Impact was going to be a live one, and it was going to be Hogan and Bischoff's first Impact. They were coming in with creative control, and Bischoff was going to be a producer on the show. Terry Taylor tells us Bischoff is going to decide if he really wants to keep us around. We were going to have a match on the following live Impact. The winner got the (unknowingly losing) briefcase. We open the loser briefcase, and we'd be like 'I don't want it, I didn't win it, you won it,'" Daivari said.

This sounds like a plausible story line for a wrestling program, but it wasn't just a story line, it was real. Bischoff was to decide on the spot who really was being cut from TNA Wrestling. Daivari said that this didn't sit well with him and he blew up about it.

"Bischoff was going to legit decide who was going to stay on the show. I was so mad and frustrated that was a question, because I just signed a new contract with them. I was so f--king pissed. We just signed this contract after they were dragging their heels, so I was like 'f--k this, give me the briefcase, it's my last night, if you're not going to fire me, I quit. Give me the briefcase and let me get the f--k out. I don't want to wait for Bischoff, let's do it tonight.' Terry said he had to ask Dixie, so he went and told Dixie how pissed I was and she said 'fine, if he wants to go, let him go.' The worst part is I thought I was possibly saving Cody Deaner's job, but they ended up firing him anyway! It's pretty s--tty," said Daivari.
Another story about TNA using the Feast or Fired match to actually fire someone. In the end both guys involved with the Fired case got fired by the time Bischoff arrived.

Wednesday's episode of MLW Radio, Konnan clarified that the latest round of heat on Lana and Rusev within WWE stems from an incident that happened at an airport last week. Lana yelled at Rusev in public at the airport, which once again has her in hot water with WWE management, while Rusev is now getting heat of his own for not standing up to her.

The valet can't seem to stop irritating the powers that be in WWE, although this is the first time that Rusev has really fallen victim to the heat she has generated.

Lana first ran afoul with management in October, when she accidentally revealed she was engaged to Rusev while she was in an onscreen relationship with Dolph Ziggler. In November, Dave Meltzer reported there was "nuclear heat" on Lana backstage over the incident.

Her stock in WWE has drastically plummeted since April of last year, when she was reportedly being groomed to be one of the new faces of the company.

Pro Wrestling Sheet reported that Batista was at the Royal Rumble and was offered an appearance spot at WrestleMania, but that it was unlikely to happen. Figured that might be useful for TPWW NY/NJ and those near the area.

Some other sheet news includes:
  • TNA currently offering a new non-wrestling contract to Kurt Angle as a last ditch attempt to keep him in the company. Angle is also considering a deal with Bellator if Bellator is interested.
  • Lucha Underground is still struggling to find a new Spanish network to carry their shows with the Observer saying the situation could become really dire for the company's future the longer it takes (or if it never happens).
  • According to the Observer, Hideo Itami is not close to returning back to NXT due to recent complications related to his shoulder surgery.
  • Add Naomi to the heap of wrestlers currently injured in the WWE.
  • According to PWI, another plan for the Rumble match was changed based on Roman Reigns' suggestion. The original plan was for him to get stretchered away to the back to create more doubt for his return but Reigns refused and wanted to walk away instead.
  • WWE is currently selling AJ Styles's debut WWE on iTunes for those interested: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/ww...e/id1079614530
  • In a "WWE Did You Know" type fact, baring any sudden changes 2011 will be the last time the actual main event for Mania didn't involve a part-time wrestler. Mania 27 had Cena vs Miz for the WWE title as the actual main event.

I liked it, best use of Crazy Steve since he got to TNA. Good fit for Abyss to.

I still like my theory that he's actually a homeless guy who wandered into the TNA home office one day to shit in a pot, and was confused for a wrestler by Dixie Carter.

I always go with the casual person flipping channels appeal

If someone is flipping through and sees Rosemary come out to a Manson song, and act all creepy, they will be possiBly intrigued. Maybe they watch a bit and like the product. That's how tna has to nab new viewers, they aren't a household name like wwe. But then when the crazy clown with a bullet hole paint job on his forehead that's cool looking is announced as CRAZY STEVE I think it just wastes the cool effects.

Shit he could just come out and say a new name and no one would care, he's not established as crazy Steve where he has to keep the name.

Have Rosemary come out and do her stick and Steve shows up and says his name is Hot Topic or whatever goth name they land on that's better than crazy Steve.

Agree with that Crazy Steve could have a better name but he really seems invested in this Decay gimmick so I at least curious to see where it goes.

I think it's great on WWE's behalf if they are genuinely not clearing him for health and safety reasons. If there are any underlying issues that people speculate (Vince not liking that he got so over, or whatever), then yeah, load of bullshit.

On a personal note I would absolutely love to see Bryan back in the ring.

Would suck if he left WWE so he could wrestle elsewhere, and then get injured again, though.

Yeah the way Roman was handled was dumb on multiple accounts. First off him essentially walking away under his own power made it look like he was taking himself out of the match. And then him coming out later like a house of fire just made me assume that he had decided to go take a nap so he could come back refreshed.

At least if he had been stretchered out, it'd have looked like it wasn't his choice to leave. Would have made his "house of fire" return later in the match look more Cena-like but still better than him walking out.

The best combo would have been for him to stretcher himself out and then, I don't know, actually show some vulnerability when he came back in. Kevin Owens was still selling his match from 2 and a half hours earlier ffs.

best idea would have been to avoid that spot all together, it makes no sense to power bomb him through the table and NOT put him back in the ring.
