I would love if they added a 1 hour studio show aka Powerrr in the old WCW Saturday Night spot at 6:05pm. It could even be a mix of that with Tuesday Night Titans or Prime Time Wrestling, where they kick it over to a match or two previously taped but unaired, as well as showing promos and vignettes. |

Dave Meltzer reported that its going to be a different show altogether.
Assuming its airing during prime time, wouldn't be surprised if it didn't air on TNT because their NBA commitments already ate up all the other good nights available or would cause potential problems during the NBA playoffs. |

If they keep it as a Tuesday show, that wold explain why it might not be on every week on TNT due to their NBA stuff. Same for if they decided to move it to Mondays or Thursdays.
Also probably for the best they don't actually tape 4 hours of stuff on Wednesdays since NXT had the same problem during their taed era where the crowd during the 4th show was almost always the most exhausted and least active. |

This sounds just like their current deal only extended and supplemented with more content.

Pretty much but the biggest change being them actually getting paid to produce shows and no longer only earning money via ad revenue splits.
It does mean production costs are now coming out of their pockets but the new deal is worth almost double per year than what TNT was initially paying going by weekly production estimates. |

I got what you were saying, and think that would be good. My fear is they wouldn't be able to help themselves and would turn it into hour long Being the Elite episodes.

It's far from the worst deal ever, obviously, and it's a safe move by Tony Khan, but I think it's being hyped up to be a way bigger deal than it is. |

Supposedly TNT was spending around $400k per episode which seems to be around the upper range for tv wrestling shows these days, at least for any not named RAW or Smackdown.
Last I remember, RAW was around $1 million per episode and Smackdown was around $750k per episode to produce. They could be cheaper but WWE has a ton of added costs to their shows mostly due to having more people working on them and in RAW's case, the extra hour needed. Think NXT used to be around the $250-$300k range during the taped era and now seems to be around the same as AEW per episode. Pretty much this new revised deal means AEW is now making good tv money during their first year than having to wait 4 years for the next tv deal to start doing it. Also means Khan did the one thing his father requested when it came to getting the money to start AEW, have a good plan in place to be profitable in a few years. Of course since they aren't a public company, we won't get to see any real financial reports, but at least knowing they have a tv deal in place buys them time to show year to year growth. |

So it turns out Cody doesn’t have the trademark on Bash at the Beach. He was denied in December. WWE might be suing.

Marty Scurll was supposed to be revealed as the leader of the Dark Order at the end of the December 18 Dynamite when they beat down the Elite, according to Meltzer...
Scurll signing with ROH threw a big monkey wrench into their plans for one of their major planned angles for now, it seems... Quote:

Also according to his filing, USPTO is giving him till this June to resolve the issues or else it gets dropped. https://trademark.trademarkia.com/ba...-88344260.html |

If AEW was airing or charging to watch old WCW footage then yeah WWE has all the legal right to go after them since they own the rights to the footage.
In terms of the name itself, WWE doesn't own the right to it due to letting the trademark expiring in the early 2000s. Its how MLW was able to get the War Games trademark and some other company trying to get the Halloween Havoc trademark despite WWE owning the footage for those events. Think Cody still has priority if WWE were to file for the trademark since his filing is still active till this summer despite the refusal. |

You can't obtain protection or USPTO registration prior to using the mark in commerce. You can file an USPTO intent to use application but your registration is not actually granted until after the mark is used by the applicant in commerce. You must then use the mark in commerce (usually) no more than 6 months after the intent to use (ITU) application. The reason to file an ITU application is because your registration date (if later granted) will be effective from the date you filed the ITU application and not the later actual date of first use or actual approved registration. WWE let the original Bash at the Beach trademark registration expire. Merely owning the copyrights (logos, graphics, animations, videos of PPVs) (and licensing those copyrights among a group of others to the public) that contain a former registered trademark may not necessarily meet the proper legal definition required of use in commerce. Use in commerce is one of the elements required to receive and maintain trademark registrations and rights, either for USPTO, state, or common law protections. If WWE was still putting out Bash merch, selling Bash at the Beach DVDs or individual old Bash streams, or putting on new Bash events/PPVs, then that would definitely be use in commerce. Simply having the old PPV events still available to stream on WWE Network may not be enough, though WWE should and will likely argue it is. |

They’ve announced Dynamite for Rochester, NY on March 18. That is Luke Harper/Brodie Lee’s hometown and it is the second Dynamite after his 90 day clause runs out.

Regardless of where he winds up I hope he takes some NJPW dates too. He would not look at all out of place running around with Suzuki-gun. Brodie Lee in the G1 would be fantastic.

I risked a lot coming into this thread today but I've stayed spoiler free for tonight!
Listening to one of the Dave's shows from the boat he mentioned that It's not a lock Brodie Lee goes to AEW. With a solid offer from ROH at 40 dates over 300k + NJPW bookings, he would be making a lot of money and doing good work (likely). Dave mentioned that he herd Brodie wants to work NJPW. That's why I am predicting an ROH signing. |

Also on Dark Order....
After viewing Raw on Monday and seeing Matt Hardy work for the first time in a long time... 1. He looked amazing. Imagine Matt 20 years ago, and then imagine what you'd hope he'd look like in 20 years if he stayed healthy. That's what we got right now. He's completely changed his physical appearance. It's quite a feat of fitness. Now after seeing this appearance, I really want him to be the leader of The Dark Order. I think his creativity would SOAR in the role. This Broken gimmick was indeed Broken by WWE.... but so was DDP and he just kicked ass on Dynamite last week and was super over. So happy for Matt to turn his life around AGAIN. Insane. 2. Jim Cornette ... with him truly ripping up AEW weekly this role would make so much sense in a very inside shooty type of angle wrapped in the cloak of The Dark Order... would be very intriguing to wrestling fans. It wouldn't be quite a simple of a fit as Matt Hardy would be but a story of Jim Cornette using jobber goons to try and prove a point and take out The Elite of AEW and become a control player behind the scenes would be really cool. The thing is that you'd still have to find a guy, an avatar to lead the physical push of The Dark Order. |
