Played the Killzone 3 SP demo and it's awesome. Graphics are fucking beautiful. I stopped several times to look around in awe and got shot in the face.

Fucking hate this discussion. Art is a word that people created and gave a definition. I don't know what you think you're arguing over, but it isn't about the meaning of "art."

Totally agree. Some games are as creative as things in other mediums, but I couldn't give a shit what some guy pretentiously stroking his beard thinks it is.

Bioware and EA having a promotion involving the demo for Dragon Age II with free unlockables as the prize.
If the demo reaches a million downloads when it is released on February 22, Bioware will give away 2 special in-game magic books for everyone who downloaded the demo and has an account with EA community. Quote:
The demo prize offer is available for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC users and will be tracked as a whole and not platform specific. http://kotaku.com/#!5763359/a-millio...on-age-ii-gear ---------------------------------------------------- Ubisoft decides to finally add some single player DLC to Assassin's Creed Brotherhood for the price of 800 MS Points or $9.99 on PSN. So was playing The Combatribes a random game in MAME. Surprisingly fun Final Fight game using an upgraded version of the WWF Superstars engine. Last boss was some chick who I decked and then my guy walked off got the greatest ending ever.
A small picture of her face down and the 3 characters walking away just saying "Then they disappeared and noone knows where they went" There's no intro either so I have no clue why these guys were fighting in the first place! |

EA announces Medal of Honor reboot series will get another game this year and it will arrive around the same time frame as the yearly Call of Duty game.
Unlike last year, EA won't be pushing out a Battlefield game for 2011 and the plan is to alternate between a Medal of Honor and Battlefield game every year. Dager Close was picked to work on the new Medal of Honor game but no news if Dice will be doing the multiplayer like in the previous game. It wasn't announced but its assumed the setting will either be Afghanistan or Iraq for the new game. http://kotaku.com/#!5764470/youve-be...f-honor-sequel ------------------------------------------------------------- Final Madden 11 roster patch arrives today and unlike a normal Madden roster update process, no new patches will be possible once the NFL goes on strike. EA also stated even if the strike ends, they will not do the traditional final patch before the next Madden arrives. EA did state their goal for Madden 12 will be to fix features while adding new ones since the roster will be the same (except for the upcoming NFL draft) for the next game. |

This update was in the oven for a while. Not sure if I will play it, though.
And BTW, how many FPS games are out there? |

Mirrors Edge 2 isn't canceled according to Sent U A Message on the UK 360 dashboard. According to them, EA have said it's just "On Hold". So we could see it eventually.

Just specced up my new gaming PC for April. Building it myself, highlights are core-i5 760, 16gb RAM, 2 (two) 1gb GTX 560 TI's in SLI and a stereoscopic 3D monitor. Can't wait.

Anyway, I feel like since Street Fighter 4 reinvigorated the fighting game market, we've seen more fighters coming out, which is good, but now it's starting to reach the oversaturation of the 90's. |

I don't agree that that's why fighting games died for a bit. 2D fighters died because the community became exclusive, not too mention the death of arcades in general. 3D fighters flourished on consoles because they made bigger strides for features and accessibility. So DoA, Tekkens, SoulCaliburs, and such went on for successful console releases. KoF never really stopped releasing games on console, but KoF was always a niche game (to this day). Capcom just didn't give a shit about making SF, Darkstalkers, Rival Schools, anything for a good while. They had to have their arm twisted to even make SF4, and a small project in TvC motivated them for MvC3.
Many new fighting games are due to 1) Capcom getting their balls back and making waves with SF4, and 2) Many smaller devs bringing their projects to the limelight (indy development is going on in all genres anyway). We were going to see a new Tekken, Virtua Fighter, KoF, and SoulCalibur regardless of what Capcom was doing. They never stopped. And the digital platforms, XBLA and PSN made porting older fighters easy. And it's great that new fighters are making it on as well, with Arcana Heart 3 coming to PSN. That's not oversaturation, it's just healthy. I mentioned shooters because if anything that's an overblown market, and nobody seems to give a shit. Some companies feel like they need to have a shooter just because. It's not like these companies are releasing fighting games to meet fiscal quotas (in many cases projections are always kept low). Personally I don't there's enough fighting games from enough people. I wanna see new IPs from new studios. It's something I watch with vested interest. SO I MIGHT BE BIASED |

As an SLI user, it is usually not even worth it. Tons of games don't even support it.

You Don't Know Jack is really awesome. It's almost a good filler for 1 vs 100. Too bad nobody here will have it for the PS3.

Fighting genre isn't over saturated. If anything, it's quite the niche market. The games coming out these days are pretty different from each other and tend to have "easy to learn/hard to master" complex systems to them.
The 90s went overboard. Street Fighter spawned 34786234764685 clones and that was fine. Some of them were damn good. The 3D era had a lot of cool ideas with kinda crappy execution, but there were also gems in there. Plus there were a lot of original ideas. I'd love to see Fighter Maker on this gen of consoles. Keep the graphics at slightly better than PS2 level and you should have plenty of processing power to develop a full blown custom fighting engine. Plus they could do it Rock Band Network style and have the best creations get upped, voted on and sold to everyone at maybe $5 - $10 a pop. |

Funky, I was arguing that the fighting genre is or isn't. I was simply stating that just because fps might be (also not arguing if it is or isn't), that doesn't justify the fighting game genre doing as such, if it is.

According to the Scott Pilgrim series creator, Scott Pilgrim vs the World could have been a completely different game had Ubisoft accepted Telltale Games idea for creating the game.
Telltale Games wanted something similar to the books by making the game more into an adventure game although it wasn't mentioned if the game would be episodic in content like the recent games from the studio. Ubisoft rejected that idea and the request from Telltale Games to develop the game since they wanted the game to be more of a beat-em-up with homages to certain games of the past. Ubisoft also pushed for the 16-bit style feel to the graphics but also ended up not including online multiplayer when the game was initially released. http://kotaku.com/#!5766446/the-scot...-big-adventure -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Time to celebrate as Legend of Zelda celebrates its 25th year anniversary today in Japan (US/Canada didn't get the game until August 22, 1987). Zelda was originally released on the Famicom Disk System and later ported to the NES for global release. Not counting the packed-in games with the NES, when Zelda's NES gold cart was released, it became the very 1st million seller for the system. |
