Metroid: Samus Returns is finished. Incredible game. The joint-op between Nintendo and MercurySteam was a success.
Although, the franchise could use something fresh. Like a hardcore-ish first person shooter on the Switch. Finally going to fire up MvC:I. |

Been doing more JC3. Finally liberated the first of 3 regions...other 2 both seem pretty massive.

I've been playing Y's VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana.
Pretty fun game tbh. Def up to my JRPG standards of goodtimez. Currently standing in front of the boss for the post-game dungeon. It's a beast of a boss and introduces a mechanic no other enemy in the game has; said mechanic is also frustrating af. |

I'd give it a solid 8. I've been playing it on PS4 and it would be higher but I'm a graphics/tech whore and it isn't the prettiest game with it being originally designed with Vita in mind. Not ugly by any means, but the graphics are pretty generic in most cases, with a few standout moments here and there. Also didn't really care for a couple of the features, most notably the 'tower defense' missions that occasionally pop up, and a type of related side mission where you have to 'control' dungeons you previously cleared. I'm not even sure they are required, but the game makes you feel like they are.
Story, setting, and gameplay are all there, though. There are a few cliché RPG moments here and there, but at this point I don't even think you can avoid that happening altogether in games. Everything has been done at some point, you know what I mean? I didn't have faith in an isolated island setting being the greatest either, but they proved me wrong with the design and variety of areas (which seem samey at the beginning of the game, but quickly change once you move out of the opening areas). Gameplay is where it is at though. Love the combat. Way better on harder difficulties though as they basically force you to use some of the more nuanced features of the combat that you can get by without for the most part on lower difficulty. Timing and strategy become extremely important when you crank it up. Especially timing. |

I'm also a big fan of RPGS that let you jump and have some platforming elements at such. It allows for much more verticality in level design without having to find stairs or a ladder. More of them need to have that feature. I can think of a lot of great RPGs over the years that would have been so much better if you could just freaking jump when running around.

Glad you said that. I've been thinking real hard on picking up Persona 5 in the next few days. I read a game informer article where they already had it ranked in their top 20 rpgs ever and while I find that hard to believe, everything I have heard seems to indicate that it may not be an exaggeration.

Btw, are the persona games standalone in their story like FF games? I've never really played them but don't know if I want to jump straight in if they are a continuous related story without at least reading up on the prior entries.

Purchased Dark Souls III last weekend in a Steam sale, so I'm going to finish Blood & Wine and then either start that bad boy or finally play Dishonoured 2.

Still playing Pillars of Eternity. Seems like it is coming to an end soon since The world map isn't that big. Hoping I am wrong. Just finished Act 2.

That blows. Did you turn the auto save feature off? Mines saves every time I enter a new room.

Just bought Persona 5. Bout to start it up. Had to put that kick ass skin on my controller first lol, was pretty annoying because I get anal about things like that and have to make them perfect. There is always that one little air bubble that makes me want to destroy all humans. Did the best I could.

Also, somehow managed to liberate the capital of Medici, Citate Di Ravello, which is MASSIVE. Deactivating the 8 monitoring systems across the city in under 3 minutes was a real son of a bitch, but I persevered and finally did it.

More on point though, the monitoring systems were often the most difficult part of liberating any settlement in that game to me. I found myself basically resolved to failing most of them on the first try just so I could learn where all the monitors were roughly located and plan out a better route for my second attempt. |

LOL as soon as I realized I was going to fail one I would just go find a good spot to hide where I could wait it out....the usual result of me getting a 3 star wanted level was blowing up some choppers and going up to 5 really quick lol.

So I got started on Persona 5. I am digging the story and setting very much so far, but God does the whole "tutorial" section at the beginning of the game take for-freaking-EVER. Just give me freedom already, I GET IT.
The only gripes I have is the HUD is a bit intrusive and that annoying border around the screen in dungeons. I get why the border is there but still wish there was an option to turn that shit off. Would be so much better without it and a couple elements of the HUD. The battle system is fantastic for a turn based RPG too. Like...REALLY fantastic. Favorite one since Lost Odyssey. |

Also this game scores a 37,000,000,000,000/10 in the style department.

I do think the AI might be sorta broken in some way as pertains to wanted levels, especially at lv. 1 and 2, as there was several times where I'd "hide" in plain view of the cops from building roofs, some I swear would look dead at me and the timer would just tick away as others looked in my direction and ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, and I'd somehow be in the clear. |

Completed Witcher 3 and the two DLCs (at least the main stories).
Detzlaff was a whiney cunt, but a bastard to kill. Installing Dishonoured 2, and should probably be able to play that at some point in the middle of the week. |

Got my hands on a SNES Classic and played Yoshi's Island the most so far.
Think the farthest I ever gotten before with the game was somewhere in either World 3 or 4. |

It would be like playing KH after playing KH2. The story holds up but the gameplay is a step back...wpuld depend on how cheap you could snag it for imo.
